This seems to combine a good amount of dirt moving power along with great precision. Being able to spread the road base to the exact thickness should save money on materials and also assure it is not thin in some spots. You did really well Tim.
I've run farm equipment all my life and been on a skid steer or two....but there's something about that setup that really intrigues me! Such a cool machine.
Grade control is a very popular tool. Glad you touched on it with your channel. As it was stated It is being fitted to a variety of machines, in two industry settings that I know of, farming and construction.Farmers are using the mapping to increase efficiency too with planting harvesting and erosion control.
@@themintlord4744 I am curious what a JCB with side entry would be like with a dozer blade. I am Deere guy all the way, but I do hate climbing over the bucket or blades etc to get into most skid steers. JCB has that side entry model that if I were buying a skid steer that would be the only 1 I would be interested in, at least till Deere or CAT comes out with a side entry model like the JCB.
@@jdfleetguy28 I absolutely hate the JCB skid steers because of the one arm design, but I guess it's just personal preference. It would be interesting to see one with a dozer blade. When it comes to that type of equipment, takeuchi is by far my favorite brand.
Spectacular views, along with “Country Roads.” Great job of explaining and showing how this is done, along with utilizing technology. It’s really a soil and dirt art form to accomplish that. Blessings.
Hi Tim, great video. It’s amazing how technology is now playing a huge role in these machines. Recently rode with my neighbor in one of those huge John Deere tractors with all the GPS gadgets. Now I see how they can make the rows so straight. Really enjoy your channel.
tue GPS is incredible I like catgrade better than trimble on the bigger dozers it seems a lot more accurate and a better end product and it also shows your contour lines so you can go at tricky slopes from the correct angle
Thank goodness for GPS, you did well, you slowed down and let the machine run the show, you stopped fighting the system.. great job Tim.. nice to see and learn how it works...keep trying to improve your over task... Great video.... I'm impressed with the quality of the machine 👌 👏
Experienced operator with GPS makes the job look easy, but it’s saving time and money getting the work done quickly. Just like what your doing back on the farm in Indiana.
Fun video to watch, lots of JD Green and a Yellow one too. Watching what the track loader can do with GPS was amazing even if it's not the high-end ones on the big road graders. Christy when you were talking about the roadbed material you should have gone over and grabbed a hand full for the camera.
Uhoh. I think we had a close-up…I guess we forgot to get it into the video. Oh well. I think the GPS system is high end. I believe he was saying that a road grader is simply better mechanically … therefore easier to do a detailed job.
I can definitely tell the altitude is giving you a workout, but it will do that to most people. The grading systems we have today, while expensive, sure makes cutting grades like buttering a piece of bread. Glad you were able to get some seat time.
This is my part of the country. I pass right by there on my way skiing in the winter. Have a cabin just north of there in Wyoming. It's beautiful country.
Nice video. I'm not sure I understood a lot of it, but that's how we learn. Personally, I hope you don't get one for the channel. I know that I could never afford one and watching one is a nice diversion, but I would rather watch and learn about tractors since I have one of those, rather than spend a lot of time watching something I'll never have. But on the other hand, you have certainly done a fine job of building your channel without my two cents, so obviously you should do what you think is best! 😁👨🚒
Obviously been out of the loop but I've never seen a dozer blade on a skid steer which is awesome excuse me more excitement for the next skid steer I get and I'm sure it's probably been around a while I just have not seen it I guess in the circles I've been in or the videos that I've watched I'm just not seen a dozer blade on this thing but that is that is awesome and now what obviously technology which I got two opinions on that some of it's good some of the bad but you can grade with it what the GPS that's pretty that's pretty great as well man I hope Lord bless me where I can get to this point it's what I want to do
I still think a skid steer will be part of your arsenal Tim. See what your dealer can do for ya! I would get one if my finance committee would approve!
You need to visit dirt perfect and watch Jerry grade without GPS and see the year's of experience. You did great for doing for the first time, iknow I'd have a hard time letting the computer take control since I'm a control freak 😆 🤣
I feel like it would have been so much easier to cut the ditch with just a loader bucket once you have road done. But I'm probably wrong. I have never run a grading system before
Really interesting! And I hope those "green tractor or nuthin'" types stuck around to watch GPS road building. No need to worry about showing interesting equipment in interesting places.
It blows my mind how many construction guys are either unfamiliar with gps blade control or won’t use it and stick with grade stakes. I’m in the ag land levelling business and we’ve been 100% gps for ten years. Before that we were using lasers and have been since the late 70’s.
I don't like computer assisted machinery, that's just not my generation. My wife has a Lexus that I refuse to drive. I wouldn't trade my Tacoma for 3 of her RS350s. It's a good thing it drives for ya because you're distracted with all the programing. lol
Same GPS system would work on a dedicated dozer. Of course a large dozer would push more, other than that, I'm not sure there would be much difference.
@@TractorTimewithTim I know Chris with Letsdig 18 and Dirt Perfect can handle a skid track loader better and faster than anybody I've seen on you tube. I just wonder how you ended up in Colorado but you had fun and that's all that matters!
@@TractorTimewithTim little short answer Tim,lol. Might have offered a challenge instead. I liked the video, didn’t realize these had that type of tech.
Ok how much this system cost? The gps seemed to be all over the place. Even when the proper operator was at the controls it seemed like it only could maintain grade for 50 feet at the end. Hills and curve are challenging for sure. Its my opinion but for the cost I expected a lot more.

Impressive capability out of a skid loader for sure. Makes for a pretty decent little dozer.
Good video TTWT !!!
I'd love to see what one would do on new hollands new big skid steer that's designed around a dozer... I bet it would be even more of a beast

Trimble is by far the best for deere. I used the two post system on a john deere 850L, I'm not a big fan of topcon. Trimble is also alot cleaner.

I hope this helped. It is hard to describe….we thought showing the in cab display would help.
@@TractorTimewithTim it did. I’ve always wondered how it worked.

GPS isn't cheap. When all your equipment is completely different, moving sensors doesn't work great.
Is it just me or does it look like that grade is going to run the water straight to the house?
We ditched around the house before we were done.
Also, there is not much water. This is the top of the ridge.
I think you should ask for the machine :)
Sounds like you are out of breath, that altitude is killer!!!

Wrong machine for the job a wheeled excavator with e.n.g tilt rotator on can also fit a tipping trailer to them no place for that CTL
