    Wowzers, I just happen to stumble upon your video as it showed up on my suggestions. I never knew this was a thing for people. After watching your video and reading the comments I can't help but think everyone with this problem has fallen down the good ol UA-cam rabbit hole. First off I'm no gunsmith but I have been playing with guns for 40 years and I do know that mag tube ring acts as a secondary recoil lug, (as it would on a rifle) and should not be sitting off the barrel ring. I hate to say it but you did mention briefly in the video that you shoot high regardless of what gun you are using and you mentioned you were going to try and fix that with your style of shooting. I'm a pretty good shot and I rarely miss (I mean we all have our bad days), but from the first time I shot at a moving target at the age of 13, the object was always above my gun barrel. This gives you a larger field of view and you're able to anticipate where you need to be and not stuck in "where you're at mode". I mentioned I have my bad days, brain farts and loss of focus, that's usually the result of me putting my object in line with the barrel and not the bead. Get under your target with both eyes open and you will see a massive difference in your success rate. I will add I have always had high viz aftermarket beads on my rails which greatly help in pointing at the belly of my object and not aiming ahead of it. I mean I'm still ahead of my object on a side swing but my starting point is always under the object. Put a truglo glo.dot on there, both eyes open and throw some shot at the cardboard and you'll be where you need to be.

      Somehow your comment was held for review and I missed it! Thanks for your input. I've been hunting with a shotgun since I was a kick 40+ years ago...no real training at the shooting arts. I never had this much problem with my Remington 11-87! Clearly a different gun though...I like your idea of an aftermarket truglo sight...others have said the same thing... Honestly a little professional instruction would help as well, I'm sure my form needs work.

    Did you try it again after the second adjustment where you gave it more clearance? You should also use some sort of rest, make sure the rib is "flat" (can't see the front or the back), and use the top of the bead centered on you point of aim. My SBE3 12 ga with 3" chamber has .010 clearance with the forearm off and barrel fully seated. When I tighten the magazine cap that gap goes to zero and the gun shoots 60/40. I'd shoot it to see where you are now, but I'd probably redo it by loosening all the way, clean and put new thread locker on, run the ring all the way down, install the barrel and tighten the cap fully, then run the ring up until its just touching. I bet you will be good then. Conversely, on my SBE3 20ga there is no ring, and mine shot 90/10 from the factory. My only way to adjust is to add tension on the barrel ring by tightening the mag cap beyond hand tight. I did this with a piece of leather and channel lock pliers. End result was 1/4 turn beyond hand tight and I now get a 60/40. The downside is I can't take it off without tools but I'd rather that than learn to shoot differently with this retarded idea of "Europeans float the bird"...

      This guy has your answer. My SBE3 is about 70/30 off a bench at 40 yards. My 20 gauge is about the same but I also tighten the holy eff out of the mag cap on it, because apparently Benelli can't figure out how to do their tolerance stack up to make sure shit fits together properly. My upper receiver has about a 1/32 inch gap if you tighten it to what one would consider a normal tension. I tighten that SOB super tight to get the barrel to sit flush against the receiver (they aren't permanently connected on the 20 gauge like they are on the 3.5 inch 12 gauge).

    What’s the problem the gun factory shoots high? I shoot the benelli super vinci and want to buy a new gun but if the guns gonna shoot high I’ll probably go to a beretta. I love my vinci but they don’t make them anymore

    • @SaltWaterSalmon

      There are many folks that find their SBE3 shooting crazy high. Not everyone though, and not everyone has an issue with it when it does shoot high. I do though. I grew up with a Remington 11-87, I know this gun will shoot different but Geez for $1800 you should be able to hit the broadside of a barn.
      It is a fixable issue if you care to fiddle with it, honestly we should all be patterning our new guns anyway. So, that’s what I know, yes many shoot 90/10 or higher from the factory.

    The sight plane and the bore of the barrel are not parallel, it will never shoot low sighting down the rib. The mag tube ring has pretty much nothing to do with it. I went down the benelli rabbit hole with a m2 that shot 100 per. High when aiming down the rib. Shimming only works when pointing , not aiming. To shoot 50/50 they need a flat rib, not a high at the rear low at the front. I machined the rib off my barrel ( everything but the bead ) now it points and aims 50/50 . A flat rib is the only fix for a Benelli. There fix is a montefeltro , its a flat rib gun

    Moving the collar on the magazine tube, is only a short term answer, and will in long term ruin the gun.
    The reason it touches the barrel ring is because it is meant to hold it in place from both sides by tightening the magazine tube cap.
    Now you have play from the back side by moving it lower. Yes, you adjusted the "shoots high" issue , but now you added another problem to the gun which is a loose barrel ring. In time it will crack from the barrel. Now you have a different problem.
    Good video. Just not the correct solution. just a band aid.
    not knocking anyone down, just my two cents...

    • @SaltWaterSalmon
      @SaltWaterSalmon  3 місяці тому

      Man, it doesn't take a genius to realize that you are 100% correct. I didn't even consider the magazine collar being a backstop for the tube cap! It will probably take "a minute" before there is an issue but someday that barrel ring is going to separate from the barrel...dang it! Thanks for the comment! Now I should just send it in for a factory fix....

    • @mhertoro
      @mhertoro 3 місяці тому +1

      I believe you are on the right path. However, the correct thing to do would be: Back off the collar until it is away from the barrel ring. Install the barrel and tighten the magazine cap tube. At this point you have the lowest aim point possible. With the magazine tube cap tight, hand snug the collar back to where it is toughing the barrel ring from the back for support and lock tight it in place. Ensuring the support.
      Again only my two cents@@SaltWaterSalmon
