Prop boats are great but nothing beats a jet sled for getting into the shallows when the sockeye are hugging the beach...you can get TOO shallow though! My @MarineJetPower Ultra Jet 340HT's make me proud on this set in Bristol Bay's Ugashik district...

Thanks for your videos. This reminds me one time fishing the strawberry entrance in Cordova. We still had an hour in the period and pulled the net due to high wind and tide opposing, breakers forming, and the danger of the bar closing.

If this info was available when I had mine I would have tried it. Loved the gun until I hated it. Mine shot even higher than yours did. Solid 12 inches of the bottom of the pattern at 20 yards. I sold it. Went back to the trust 50/50 shooting maxus.
daaang! Yeah, I bought a Stoeger, $300 gun that shoots where I point it! Lol. Maybe I will send this SBE3 to Rob Roberts and see what they can do with it...

@@dq96708 I had the time and the energy to stay late this year! Had an issue with the port engine’s after cooler and had to put it on the blocks sooner than I would have liked 🤦🏻♂️ Glad you were able to fish late!

@@kenaidog6974 so I get quite a few comments of this nature. Problem is that we’ve NEVER had a backlash doing a speed set….so we have that going for us. I have blown up the drum motor which is significantly more of a pain than a backlash…

Found your channel from the van parked in the silver bay yard, we went to ugashik too, did yall do any good?
That poor van, she died this year! Yeah we had a decent season...would have been nice to start fishing everyday...a few tides earlier! We needed another pop to break 200k. Also it didn't help that the port after cooler started leaking, that ended our season a few days early!
Makes me miss egegik! We had a decent good season I’ll be back next year to do my 6th season

@@notathing649 it’s not too bad on the gear actually. Everyone says “wait till you get a backlash doing sets like that” no backlashes in four seasons of doing this…but to your point, salmon love to stay in the shallow water and out of the current (at least here they do)…setting in plane let’s us get the net where the most salmon are and get the boat back to “deeper” water. The problem arises when there isn’t actually any water left. Like right now, as I write this, I’m parked in the dirt because I wasn’t paying close enough attention! 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

Quinn, Which video talks about the 340HT thrust bearing? I think you said you put in a couple of pumps every 50-100 hours??
Just opened up the service manual. "Weekly or every 50 hours...add recommended grease to the bearing cap until a slight witness of it appears around the front seal"
I looked briefly but couldn't find which video I made those comments...
