    M210-RTK user and went through all sets of TB50 and TB55’s after warnings came out. Happy to report there were No problems (.913) as a matter of due diligence I always keep voltages visible on all Aircraft. The old Inspire 1 pro way to check battery health was to fly up fast and watch battery changes when battery has sat awhile b4 use. Change they did!! Fresh charges is the best way!

    My M210 won’t allow a take off if both batteries aren’t at a consistent voltage. Pairing batteries is a must as well. Thanks for the video

    I left 6 of my inspire batteries fully charged inside it’s case for 5 months ...... was that bad for my batteries ? I understand I still need to charge them fully before I fly them , but leaving them fully charged in a case for so long was a bad thing ?

    Is there a way to discharge the batteries without putting them in the aircraft? Or is that the only way to discharge them? If you can tell me about that I would appreciate it very much. Keep up the good work Mad RC! I really enjoy your tutorials.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 років тому +1

      You can buy the DJI RC charge cable that allows you to charge any DJI arc from the TB50 or TB55, this can also be used to charge the crystalsky batteries as well so you can discharge that way. Other than that there is currently no easy way

    • @phildevore4543
      @phildevore4543 6 років тому

      Mad RC I don’t understand how using the charger can discharge the batteries? And I do have the DJI charger already. Isn’t it just for charging? Or are you talking about a different charge cable than the charger itself? Obviously I am confused about what you said.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 років тому +1

      Yes a different one see the below link, you can then use this cable to charge the RC and CS batteries. m.dji.com/product/inspire-2-remote-charing-cable

      Thanks for the quick reply I appreciate it. Right now I’m checking all my batteries just to be on the safe side. I definitely don’t want to be up in the air and have it fall out of the sky. Too much money tied up in it to not be as safe as possible. Thanks again

    Great as always. I use 3 pair of the TB 50's and one pair is a bit strange in that when the pair hits around 25 % it drops drastically to 10% in a matter of seconds. The other two pair are fine. I like to land at 22%. I rely on the GO 4 App Battery readings.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 років тому +1

      Keep a close eye on the voltages on those that are dropping, what are they like fully charged ? Remember the key is over 4.25v per cell fully charged, at this stage it’s being recommended not to fly below 3.70v that should equate to roughly 30% until we get more info.

    Clarification needed: is 3.7V considered as lower limit when on the ground (resting) or when in the air (under load/hovering)? My personal opinion is in line with your statement at 12:30 - resting on the ground. Still, when flying (under load, prior to landing) such battery will indicate 3.5V on Inspire2. Additionally, when full power/high current is applied (sport mode, full throttle) battery voltage will sag additional -0.2V - therefore I suspect that 3.5V in hovering can temporarily drop to 3.3V if full throttle is applied and that scares me a bit... Otherwise, if limit is to set to 3.7V in hovering, then TB50 provide only 7 to 10min flight time of Inspire2 and resting voltage when landed will get more then 3.8V... What do you think about risk of landing at 3.5V under load (possibly droping to 3.3V in full throttle)?

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 років тому +1

      The current directive is land at 3.7v but I do think the 3.7v is a little connective on the I2 as it’s about 50% capacity, as the M200 is a little heavier and the capacity is then less.
      The sag at that point is about 0.12v so they will recover back to around 3.82v rested if you land at that point.
      Imo a landing voltage of 3.6v would have been a little more realistic for the I2 but they are being ovally cautious but then they were in a difficult position .

    I just ran through my 12 batteries and I noticed something, ( I have mine set to 3 day discharge) the batteries that were just starting to discharge, today is day 3, were not indicating discharging by the blinking light on the side, however in the app, the battery was indicating an error, say the battery was discharging. but then once I hit the button on the battery, the error went away. don't know if this is new or not, never really taken the time to do this.. maybe this is normal.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 років тому +1

      They don’t indicate self discharge on the battery it’s self sadly, this has been something requested for a long time. Once the packs enter self discharge you don’t want them anywhere near your craft until they have been charged again. Also pressing the button on the battery will reset the time too so be aware of that.

    Battery temprature is a question = 20c is minimun take off temp . After 10min of flight it says 50c even if at 60% at 50c i am landing now - what is highest acceptable battery temp inflight? My rule is 50c !! Rated to 70c after 55c having it puff is a risk

  • @paulypyro

    I think some problems occur because of the 2 settings critical battery warnings which are as a % and not voltages presumably because of the way the battery cells can behave in flight up and down. I always set one of the buttons on back of the controller to display battery info so it's easy to have a quick look. Interesting you had a pair of inspire batteries 31 charges and one on 19 charges mad ?

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 років тому +1

      That was not a matched pair on there, I just grabbed 2 packs, would not fly that that but did not match them for the video. Totally agree on the button I’m in and out the battery screen contact it and looking at those voltages

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 років тому +1

      pmshop 4 I can’t comment on that as again that’s relying on something to pick it up after the fact.
      I can only say the safest way is to always check the voltages before take off and monitor in flight, I have always done this and it’s how any none smart battery would be monitored anyway.
      Checking voltages at the time is always the safest way forward.

  • @samson418
    @samson418 6 років тому +1

    I agree to fully charge the batteries, but the concept for the inspire2 is, that you have a backup battery. So this concept is for the trashcan, if you allways have to fully charge and both batteries must have the same level. What does dji sell us? Reliable dual battery concept for backup or a dream, that never is gonna happen?

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 років тому

      The duel battery redundancy does work and the I2 can fly on a single pack but the issue is you can’t fly if both packs are empty.
      This is why it’s being mentioned to look at the voltages and check everything is OK, while percentages calculations are a simple indication they should never be 100% relied upon.

    Battery question that I can get no one to answer. Sent my Inspire 2 in for warranty repairs for a bad flight controller. I sent all 4 of my batteries. [Hundred 120 charges 9 months old.] Along with the system. When the system returned one battery after another exhibited the following behavior that I have named "battery gauge problem".
    The batteries charge to full voltage with all cells at about 4.2 volts.
    When the batteries get down to about 4.1 volts I get a signal that I have zero voltage on the battery and I need to return home.
    When you check the cells. All cells are 4.1 volts, but the voltage gauge obviously tells the Inspire 2 that the battery is empty or defective.
    Recharging the battery makes it usable again.
    All 4 batteries exhibit this behavior and had to be retired.
    Sent data to DJI and got no answer. [DJI sent me one battery but no answers]
    Purchased for new batteries. [Ouch] they work fine.
    Any idea how to salvage these batteries?
    I am afraid that my new batteries, one may suffer the same effect; has anyone else experienced this affect?

    • @donquichote2024
      @donquichote2024 6 років тому

      Assuming that you received your's batteries back and not somebody's else old crap, 120 charges is a significant number. Batteries may show a signs of aging for many reasons, but as long as they deliver reliable current everything is OK. Perform test flights after full charge, abuse the bird observing the battery status page all the time. If cell's voltage bars drop into amber or red zone too easy, if battery temperature rises to abnormal, say, 50C level ... It's time to land and replace the pair with a new one.
