I have the X4S camera and I am questioning if its even worth it for me to shoot in D-Log with that camera. Just a simple yes or no would be great. Most info that I have found is pertaining to the X5 camera. Thank You
Thanks - YOU will make me spend a lot of money :-O I always wanted to buy a X5 equipped inspire, thanks to your tutorials I'm more optimistic to be able to handle the files in terms of color grading :-)
Another way to get to the Library folder is to click and hold the Finder -> GO menu and hold down the option key. Library will appear when you hold down the option key.
This is incredibly helpful, thank you! We shot an art installation at night that has a bunch of colored lights. Interestingly, the blue lights specifically seemed to hit the DJI sensor extra hard, as they are wayyyyyyyyy more saturated than any other color (despite equal intensity in real world form the reds, greens, etc). Has anyone else experienced the DJI soaking up Blues more intensely than other hues?
Hallo. Grossartiges Tutorial! Habe meinen Workflow von After Effects auf Resolve umgestellt, da die Videos aus After Effects immer hell-dunkel geflackert haben. Ist dieses Problem mit den LUTs beseitigt?
at the 6 minute mark, the video clips of the bridge that you show in Premiere Pro, were those already converted in After Effects? Converted to ProRes? I do all my editing in Premiere Pro. I'm trying to figure out the best workflow when starting with CinemaDNG files. Another friend of mine uses the companion h.264 files as proxies in Premiere pro and links to the DNG files, but I don't see this as best method in Premiere Pro when you still have to color grade off the original DNG files. Do you recommend color grading in AE, exporting to ProRes, and then using the ProRes files in Premiere Pro? Do you lose much in quality by adopting a method that involves two renders vs. one? It seems like to be able to do your post production in Premiere Pro and also get the best color grading quality, there is no choice but to render twice.. first time in AE, then second time in Premiere Pro.. I appreciate your help in this. Thank you.
cool video dude. seems to work now. haven't tried it on my desktop yet. but on my 2 in 1 it seems to work. just takes for ever to upload 10 minutes worth of files. but I have dragged about 5 seconds worth of clips and it plays back. laggy but at 1/16th playback it plays back fine. hope it plays back smoother on my p.c. thanks for the information on your video.
If the Resolve clips the highlights, could you not reduce the exposure/highlights controls on the color tab? Ich weiß es nicht, that's why I'm asking. Danke.
Can anyone help? In after effects I don't seem to have prores as an option in my output module, can't find it anywhere. Is there anyway to activate it? thank you.
Hey thanks for the very helpful tutorial. Can you please help. Adobe has told me that Premier Pro does not support DJI Inspire footage. That is the reason why, when you upload a video file not raw or prores, just a standard .mov file straight out of the X5S, that the video skips or jumps and then stops and then plays again. They recommend transcoding the file first and then working with it in Premier Pro. I haven't heard you speaking about this. Also if we shoot in Apple ProRes, what is the best way to go about getting that into Premier Pro, with a PC not a Mac as I believe Apple ProRes is designed for Final Cut X which is not available on PC. Thank you in advance.
thank man but inspire 2 raw footage( MOV in 6k)can not be open this file in davinci resolve..how to import davinci mediapool..not show with the raw footage files..y!!!
Great tutorial! Just one question. If i record in D-log in Apple ProRes 422. If I understand the workflow correctly I first apply the D-log to LOG LUT. Can i after that apply the cinema5d instaLUT to get the cinematic color on the movie or what?
Adobe (A-Doh-Bee). While it does have an E at the end, and you would think... this is English so I should not pronounce the E, but it is actually Spanish. Great tutorial!
It seems like one of the biggest differences in terms of ProRes vs CinemaDNG on Inspire 2 is that you can't to 4K 60P in PreRes. Is that correct? (Which is pretty disappointing.)
What about converting in Adobe Lightroom? Can't you take all of your files into Lightroom and grade them then export them into premier as one file? Regards, Rick
Hello Seb, I live in Basel and about to buy my first drone. I read that you can't use them in the 5 km range from airports. I think some shots in the footage were within that range. Did you have to get a permit for the shoot?
Since the I2 does not do in camera lens corrections or CA, If I am recording in Pro Res how does one correct these issues within PP properly? I don't think the lens data is stored in the files. It appears that if I record in Cinema DNG RAW and load this into AE these issues can be corrected in the RAW state and then exported as a corrected Pro Res File?
You're videos are truly amazing. Are you planning to publish a video for the X7 camera? There really doesn't seem to be any content online about how to convert Inspire 2 x7 raw footage :( @cinema5D
For clarification. I am trying to use your RAW workflow, but I shot in DNG and D-Log. Are you advising against that. i.e. was your sample footage here shot in DNG Standard or DNG Raw. Thanks BTW, I spend a great deal of time following your work and tutorials.
So are you saying if you shoot ProRess on D-Log - you first convert the dlog to log in DaVinci, then you reopen the rendered log files, and then apply the instalut, and render again before bringing into Premier? Can we apply the Lut in Premier Pro instead of DaVinci? Thanks for the great videos =)
Why can't you use media encoder instead of After Effects... and take advantage of GPU rendering. The way you are doing it... only the CPU will be used??
why not just load the dng files into resolve and then generate optimized media "proxies" to edit and grade with? when your edit and or grade is complete go to the delivery page and export the final it will access the original raw media automatically. thats the only workflow that works for me
Yup this is usually the most common "Round trip" workflow. Wonder why it should be any different when working with Inspire D-Log files. Can you confirm this is the way to go?
Premiere Pro CC does accept LUTs. Could you possibly produce a LUT for Premiere Pro CC? For those who use Premiere Pro CC for editing, using a LUT in AE or DaVinci causes extra time in either converting or linking across two different platforms. Adobe upgraded Lumetri Color in Premiere Pro CC 2017 and it actually does a pretty decent job with color grading... maybe not as good as some others when it comes to using isolating color techniques, but good enough for most of the jobs I need it for.
This was insanely helpful, thank you for making this! :) Been so confused on this whole process.
Glad to see your are finally taking codecs seriously :L)
just wondering is this still working if I'm using Zenmuse X7?
If only a tutorital like this existed for the Inspire 3 Pro Res Raw on Final Cut Pro. No such tutorial exists yet

If you can get 10-Bit D Log output than yes. DJI prefers .MOV/H.265/D Log

now that's what I call a "tutorial!"
Came, liked, then watched! :D
oh wait..Correction Came, liked, commented, then watched! :D
So you liked it before you watched it? And you really didnt comment ha ha.Do you have an Inspire 2?
Cheers
Hi 🙋🏻♂️. How do you convert many photo files (dng) into one file in Davinci?
Hallo. Grossartiges Tutorial!
Already bought the presets and I love them!

Is this guy a movie maker bc his editing skills are way to good

What format would you recommend in the absence of ProRes (there is no ProRes option in Windows).

Could you please do a shooting and editing city lights at night with Inspire 2 X5S I'm having a lot of trouble.

No.

What about using final cut pro x?
I can use this settings on Mavic 2 Zoom?
You said Davinci - conversion degrades image quality a bit, but does it degrade quality so much that its the same to use ProRes from the Start?
For clarification. I am trying to use your RAW workflow, but I shot in DNG and D-Log. Are you advising against that. i.e. was your sample footage here shot in DNG Standard or DNG Raw. Thanks BTW, I spend a great deal of time following your work and tutorials.
great video - nice work on your base lut's to get close to an ARRI log
Looks like your first link "Get the C5D Raw Conversion LUts" link is bad
Whenever I go to set my custom resolution it only lets me put in 3 number in stead of 4 so 528 instead of 5280. Anyone tell me why?
I am getting the same issue. Did you ever find a solution. I'm sure its just something simples and forward

I wonder the exact same thing!
basically yes, import footage and use the Dlog lut in the basic tab.
This is strange I have Davince 12.5 and it will not let me input 5280x2972 - any thoughts?
Same, it only lets me input 3 digits in each box
same here... i think its all about the paid free version...
you need the studio version and it cost above $300

my question exactly!!!

I see. That´s a shame :( But is it possible to create a look from these LUTs and then install the look in Premiere?
don't wan't to be that prick but use a windows pc they support Titian Xp a much faster piece of tech than any apple computer supported graphic card
