I just realized that Nightslash Cheetor was the originator of the long trend of Bumblebees getting black and yellow “stealth” or “recon” repaints.
He’s also one of the few figures to be released in the inverted colors first, a trait he only shares with AOE High Octane Bumblebee (which, unlike Night Slash Cheetor, never got a “normal colors” repaint).
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho To be fair, High Octane Bumblebee is also the only one that's actually screen accurate in those colors.
Don’t forget what Bee did in Prime season 3
Ah, finally reached the year my Spark departed from Primus and began its journey across the galaxy and this crazy road we call life
tldr: you left your father's balls
RID 2001 is easily one of my favorite lines. So many good toys, including my all time favorite RID Scourge
The more time goes by, the more I love Fire Convoy's design
And right here is where I'd put my Transtech Cheetor.
IF I HAD ONE!
At least you have Animated Cheetor
@@samurexatlas7373 yeah, animated Blurr is a great mold, but concept art like that deserves its own mold. Like SS Concept Megatron.
@@krimsonklaww611 Maybe we'll get those concepts in the generations line.
Good god hasbro we NEED an updated rail racer!!
13:57 Seeing my favorite of the autobot brother as No. 3, I'm all for it! When it comes to transformers, as far as my memory goes. I remember having the RID 2001 Prowl, driving his toy car along my grandmother's walls when me and my mom would go visit her and my grandfather's house.
Prowl and Optimus are two of my favorite solo figures and Railracer is one of my favorite combined modes. Prowl is probably my favorite because I own multiple versions of the mold.
Fire Convoy is an amazing figure
And the Haslab will improve on him and God Magnus.
Certainly
@@jamesmcdavid1673I can not wait for it to arrive
Prowl’s car seats becoming his feet reminded me just how many of the upcoming Alternators (one of my favorite lines) used that bit of engineering.
I wonder, would the simplicity allow Gigatron to be made these days?
Gigatron engineering its complicated at all lmao. He just has alot of pegs for the the alternative modes to click in correctly.
I just realized that TJ's logo looks like Fire Convoy's abs.
The Autobots are so fun. Glad I found the brothers at my local toy store and fell in love with the line. Then I went back when they got the Optimus in and him for a great price. Definitely a treasure in my collection ❤.
Gigatron=Gigachad
Megatron=Megachad😎
I think Megatron’s success is exemplified by having the greatest time between original release in 2001 and being reused by FunPub in 2016. Now part of that was being an unrealized 3H design, but it still speaks to how enduring and beloved that toy is.
I do feel the need to give some shout outs to Megabolt Megatron (from RiD I think), the leader class Primal (I still LOVE playing with him, despite the...GPS), and then the smaller BM Thrust and Tankors from the tail end of the line. I remember those two coming out and being cartoon accurate, but also super fun to transform and feeling like a completely different design team did those.
RID 2001 got me back into transformers. And I’ve been there ever since
Rapid run was one of my first cartoon crushes, so happy he made the list!
This is definitely one of the hardest lists for me personally. The show endeared almost every character to me so even when the toys aren’t the best I still struggle to put aside my character bias 😂
Having just grabbed Titanium Cheetor, Night Slash Cheetor is definitely where the inspiration came from
Having seen the new Legacy Sideburn, I can confidently state that the “kibble” is what made the robot design work on the original toy.
The best thing about having the Takara edition of Fire Convoy was that one of his voice lines sounded like, "I'm a blowfish! Transform!"
I keep hearing you mention RID Bruticus but both I can find are repaints/reissues.
Scourge/Flame Convoy repaint, and Ruination the Bruticus repaint.
RID '01 Bruticus is a Beast Machines leftover that was used as filler for the RID toyline. He turns into a cerberus - 3 headed canine. There's a Plastic Addict episode dedicated to him.
That Cybertron Scourge repaint was based on RID Bruticus.
@@sideways3458 right
Because Bruticus would be before Flame Convoy
@@samurexatlas7373 Indeed. A good few years in-between the two.
I recently rewatched a couple Plastic Addict episodes, so I'd fully recommend checking 'em out on TJ's channel, if you haven't already.
@@sideways3458 I've seen some
Megatron really was a once in a lifetime engineering achievement.
Happy to see Cheetor on this list! And even happier to see Primal. These are genuinely good toys.
Agree that Prowl is the best Autobot brother, but that they all have something to recommend.
I know it was against your rules, but I’d honestly have forgiven the inclusion of Scourge and Sky-Byte, because the decos are just SO GOOD.
I always loved Wedge, especially the more yellow 4 pack version.
I never had the 2 Beast Machine figures but i can say I do agree with this list
We need this megatron to come back with some modern articulation
I absolutely love that Megatron. I had a blast with it as a kid. Only downside for me is one of the covers for the dragon head broke, besides that...since the last time I saw it (Buried in my closet in a tote) it's all in one piece.
I still have all the Transformers RID in my collection, I do agree on your list, it's pretty much how I would rank them. Now if I could get my hands on Ruination again, that would be even greater.
Love that Megatron i got him in a auction a few years ago great figure
That prowl is still a fantastic figure to this day
2:24 you can’t lose with any version of this mold. I’m about to get ahold of catscan from BotCon 02. It’s a gorgeous figure.
Finally! A list where I have the number one!
Some decent picks here. I feel like some of the best Beast Machines toys were ignored though. My top ten would be:
10. Battle Unicorn
9. Night Slash Cheetor
8. Beast Changer
7. Side Burn
6. RiD Prowl
5. RiD Ultra Magnus
4. RiD Megatron
3. Spy Streak
2. RiD X-Brawn
1. RiD Optimus Prime
I have always wanted a night slash Cheetos, his cat mode is awesome. Need to pick one up at some point.
I remember when hasbro called the cartoon in 2015, rid as well, I said now you gotta say rid 2001 and rid 2015 to differentiate them since they’re completely different shows
My 10 - 10. Grimlock 9. Megatron 8. Super charge x brawn 7. Super charge prowl 6. Towline 5. Skid z 4. Red side burn 3. Skybyte 2. Ultra magnus 1. Optimus Prime
I look forward to the year of Armada blessed our screens
PROWL'S WEAPONS CAN ATTATCH TO THE LIGHTBAR!!?
HOW DID I NEVER NOTICE THIS?
It would make storage in vehicle mode far easier cos the spoiler isn't the best place so i have to mistransform my Red Alert with his arm out to have the guns on it
Rid 2001 grimlock was my first from this line. Wish legacy would have remade the build team for the line
14: a figure so nice I bought him twice
Was air attack primal 2002? He definitely deserves to be here
I miss my X-Brawn. He was the only Car Robots toy I had but he was a great figure. Always wanted Optimus, Ultra Magnus, and Megatron as a kid. Now, as an adult with money to blow, I have the original Optimus and Megatron, and I signed up for Hasbro Pulse's Omega Prime release too. Car Robots as a show is pretty mid but the toys kicked ass.
I had to prune out my RID collection but I still kept my two versions of X-Brawn.
Tj successful dodged giving rid2001 bruticus in one of the top 10 slots. For now.
The damned hellhound will get his revenge some day!
Fire Convoy is a Holy Grail of mine, but I can't seem to find him without Ultra Magnus and I just don't gel with Daddy Issues Longlegs.
I disagree with Sideburn being complicated. I remember being able to easily transform it right out of the packaging without instructions back when I was 11.
Also Commander RiD Megatron when?
Formally known as gigatron 😅
In my headcanon I call him that to differentiate him from all the other Megatrons.
I got Universe Night Slash Cheetor from TFSource by mistake (mixed up order), really like him and bough one for myself. I like the Build Team and Team Bullet Train equally, however Team BT came out nicer. X-Brawn is good and so is Prowl. My Brother got Universe Inferno which was too complex for him but i worked him out. Can't disagree with the positions of Optimus Prime and Megatron though. Though if it wasn't for everything Megatron can do I would put Prime in first place. Ultra Magnus is nice too, but having Optimus Prime makes him full circle.
I think there is an argument for RiD Megatron as the best Transformer of all time or at least top 5.
Hey Hasbro. Leader / Commander class RID Megatron when?
I have the red alert and ratchet versions of the autobot bothers
Ever thought of doing 10 of the worst toys of every decade?
It would just be too depressing.
If Armada Hot Shot isn't number 1 in the 2002 top 10, I'll be so, so disappointed
Fire Convoy and God Magnus deserved mainline Generations releases. Just downscale Optimus to Leader and make his core bot form somewhere between a Deluxe and a Voyager and make Magnus a Weaponizer that can combine with anyone instead of being limited to uniting with his brother. Not only would it give us non-HasLab backers a shot at owning the “first” Japanese Optimus Prime reinvention in the current Generations style, but it’d increase Magnus’s functionality as a solo figure.
Granted, the accuracy of God Fire Convoy/Omega Prime would take a hit if Magnus was compatible with anyone, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
THANK! YOU! I’m not one for three digit crowd funds and getting standard main line releases of Prime and Magnus would be fantastic to get. And the set would be about £300/$300 less than the Has Lab set. Most folks aren’t going to end up with that set due to the eye watering price of it
RID Prime is awesome but he needs Ultra Magnus to truly shine. Megatron for once doesn't need anything. Easily the best of Car Robots and RID 2001. At least the US version, lol.
My 2001 top ten list, as there was not a lot to choose from... and I did NOT cheat so if you're wandering where all the RID2001 toys are, look at my comment on the 2000 video cause that's where I put Galvatron or Devil Gigatron as my number 1.
10. Beast Changer: Otherwise known as Noble/Savage. Considering the design is literally impossible to do as a toy I think they did the best they could.
9. Battle Unicorn: Otherwise known as the toy that made every dyslexic fan think we were getting a Unicron. Actually a pretty good mold for a basic class.
8. Bruticus: The Cerberus originally created for Beast Machines that released in RID2001. I actually like this guy even though he was a Plastic Addict victim... and now you see how desperate I was for good figures this year.
7. Optimus Primal: Blast Punch, the Mega Class was the most show accurate at the time... till Air Attack gets released next year.
6. Rescue Roy: Part of 1-2-3 Transformers was a preschool line of toys in association with Tonka. Actually a pretty good figure and was the only figure released in this line till a year later.
5. Spy Streak: I put him rather low because I didn't like his lack of any proper hands in robot mode and he's got the most boring looking vehicle mode of any Vehicon but I still like him.
4. Strika: Much better than her partner because Obsidian was designed first and released before his appearance in the show. Strika was released after their first appearance in the series so she ends up being more show accurate as a result.
3. Cycle Drone: Oddly STILL the most accurate Thrust toy and he's not even called Thrust.
2. Tank Drone: Oddly the most accurate Tankor toy till the Thrilling 30 Generations Deluxe years later and he's not even called Tankor.
1. Cheetor: Night Slash, the Deluxe class is still I believe the most show accurate Cheetor design, especially if you can get the Universe repaint that came out later. The mold is prefect if it wasn't for the colors.
How did two basics end up this high on my list? Because I love the Vehicon designs and there aren't a lot of good molds this year. It's mostly repaints and rereleases of older molds and then there's figures like Rattrap I didn't include because Beast Machines Rattrap is one of the worst molds I have ever owned. The chest panel is so thin and flimsy he doesn't hold together well and it feels like it's going to break every time I transform it. He also can't even stand up because the joints in his legs are SUPER loose. Pretty much the only way I can make him stand up is to have him in the wheeled mode and tripod him on the tail. He's easily the worst figure in the entire toy line cause he just feels cheap compared to the others.
I look forward to next year when we actually have good figures to talk about again.
Aw yeah, respect for Rescue Roy
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho Not really respect... more like without cheating he was the only other new mold I could use to complete a top ten list. Like I totally understand why TJ cheated for his lists. I made this a challenge for myself by not cheating.
I have the galvetron verison of him
I think this is the first time I've disagreed with one of these lists. Railspike is my favorite out of the three trains. His proportions look better to me, rather than Rapid Run being stretched vertically. I think he has a cooler head design, and I love his massive shoulder pauldrons. Yeah, Rail Racer's head is his chest, but it doesn't bother me since you have to be looking for the face. Granted a lot of that is subjective, since the articulation between the two is more-or-less the same.
I do still like Rapid Run, though. As I feel the only weak one out of the three is Midnight Express.
And yeah Mach Alert is the best of the Autobot Car Brothers by a country mile. I almost don't want a Generations one, because the original holds up so well.
Please do the top 10 worst transformers after this
Fire Convoy has yaoi hands, God Magnus has shoujo legs.
Fun fact: Mach Alert was voiced by a porn actor.
How was or how is TF cone 21:31
Very soon, this top 10 list will be a once a year thing.
Nice
Eh I never liked Night Slash Cheetor, but I remember he was a popular figure from the Beast Machines line when he came out . So I understand. Sideburn might have been a pain in rear to transformer, but he was a beautiful figure. I wish the legacy version kept the Dodge Viper mode for him and updated it to work better. Eh Car Robots/RID Ultra Magnus? I hated that one. He was just made to combine with Optimus. Other than that the figure to me was garbage. There's a reason why the Haslab did Optimus and Magnus together
