I can vouch for the 13ft Bluefish Special. It's a fantastic rod with an amazing throwing action and casts for days.
I also had a PENN Allegiance 11ft, but I had the previous generation. Such a great rod for someone on a budget. It does it all.
Yes, all day long Bluefish special is a great value for money rod. Probably one of the best in that price point.
Dean obviously doesn’t like the 12ft for his own reasons.
But allegiance has been a die hard rod🤙🏻

Thanks for the video. Really appreciate the advice you guys give out. For the Evo gold did you go for the 14 or the 14.6? Any reason for the choice? Holding fingers for the weather! Been a crazy year.
All the EVO Golds are 14ft. The silver EVO is 14.6ft. It's a heavier action rod. Chose the gold because Dean won it for free in a Bilimoria giveaway about a year ago🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for all the great videos you make. I want to buy a Assassin Amia Zero 11ft rod,but I don't know which one will be suitable. I want to be able to cast a 3oz sinker with a whole sardine. I'm targeting edible fish in estuaries and in the surf. Which one would you recommend, the 11ft kob special xh or the xxh?

So we have the 11ft Kob special, and it’s the XH which throws a 3oz and whole sardine perfectly.
Don’t forget the rod is rated to throw a sinker (weight rated) excluding the bait.
The XH is ideal for us, and suits well for soft plastics with a softer tip🤙🏻

I was never scared to pull anything with that rod- it’s my secondary rod at the moment, and it’s pegged when we fish for silvers a lot of the time- just shows I have confidence in its capability 🤙🏻

Assasin rods in my opinion are mid tier rods. Some of the best spinning rods are developed by the Japanese companies. Yamaga, Ripple Fish and Zenaq. A Ripple Fish 11ft can set you back around 10k for the rod. Okuma and Blue Marlin are also releasing very good spinning rods too of late. Then there is the Hearty Rise rods another SKorean company like NS Black Hole. The British market can't compete anymore. CTS from NZ makes great blanks but the cost and shipping is not worth it.
Fun Fact :Blue Marlin rod blanks were used to make the first versions of the Assassin rods before the manufacturering was shipped to Asia.

Assassin rods may be priced in the mid tier but the Bluefish Zero is a genuine standout in the line, a diamond in the rough.
I have a custom CTS Vapor Trail 13.5’ and a Century Slingshot and although you can nitpick subtle nuances the Bluefish Zero casts and fishes surprisingly close, and for a lot less money.

Is it too stiff to catch them- NO.
Is it too stiff to throw paddle tails… no, and yes. I will switch to my XH kob special for paddle tails🤙🏻

Absolutely!!! I love the Amia kob special- especially for artificial lures

@@vanzy7774I would go on a 10k Okuma Tesoro (we are using a 6500 Penny Slammer which is also an amazing choice).
