    It’s one thing that Handel wrote this masterpiece within 24 days. That’s a feat. It’s another amazing thing that in the year when Handel was born another genius was born: Johann Sebastian Bach. Although they knew about each other, they never met. It was the same eye doctor who treated them both. God blessed humanity with two geniuses in that year. Germany gave birth to two of the most influential composers of the Baroque era. The Protestant Reformation started by Luther yielded its finest fruits a few decades later when Handel and Bach composed their glorious music to praise God. In order to draw peoples attention to their salvation. God loves humanity. Handel’s Messiah is the testament.

    I must say, this is one of the best renditions of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus I have ever heard. For the first time listening to this piece, I had tears in my eyes. And don't even get me started on the conductor's contagious passion at 2:32. Just marvellous.

      I think it has to be the clarity of the trumpets, the voices, and other instruments. I wholeheartedly agree! This is the best rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus I have ever heard in my life!

    Great performance of the choir who enjoyed every second of it. We can see it in their faces. We can also see the choir director putting his best to make out of this a very emotional rendition. And it was very emotional. Thanks for sharing! My respects goes out to all.

    I’m thinking this may be a new standard to beat. Has always sounded better on old instruments but with a smaller choir it works better than the usual huge choirs that speakers just really never do justice to. Bravo I think that’s what I’m supposed to be saying here!!!

    Georg Friedrich Handel left his mark on his time thanks to his intense and majestic compositions. In this vast fresco composed in 1741, Handel displays all the nuances of his consummate art of sound painting, recycling if necessary some of his Italian duets composed the same year. He drew his inspiration from the music of his native country, Germany, he was inspired by his numerous travels, particularly to Italy, and he was attached to the traditions of his adopted country, England. This oratorio is the subtle balance between the recitatives, few in number, the arias and the choruses contributes to the support of the dramatic action; the intensity is maintained, as is often the case, with great sobriety of means in the writing by virtue to the chord orchestration. His talent and this clever mix have made him one of the greatest composers still performed firmly in the prestigious operas. Many of the master's oratorios are still performed nowadays, but it is truly Messiah which left its mark on the history of music. Music accompanies life! *Lucien* 💙

    It is amazing that three verses from the Bible can be so moving. Revelations 19:6, 11:15, 19:16. The majesty that everyone recognizes when they hear this song is the Holy Spirit testifying of our Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ. And yes, he is coming. We are ‘in that day’.

    When Handel had finally finished writing the Messiah, apparently his manservant could get no response from Handel when he knocked on his Master's door to enter. He became a bit worried because he knew he was in there so he decided to enter the room anyway.
    He said he saw that Handel was at his desk silently sitting there, not moving, with tears rolling down his cheeks but at first would not answer his manservant's questions of concern.
    Eventually Handel said that he was crying because on finishing the Messiah, he did believe he had just experienced the presence of God, and that God had written the music through him.

    • @judahschultz
      @judahschultz Рік тому +1

      It does seem to beg for it! But the quality just falls away when you get these massive choirs singing, and these massive orchestras playing (although I will say, the sound of a mighty choir and a powerful orchestra does do this song justice). This showcases the beauty of old, antique instruments and the utility and clarity of a small choir.
