I have lots of Malayan Trumpet Snails in my 50 gallons - But in a smaller number, I think they can make an excellent clean-up crew for small tanks.
But obviously, the most important clean-up crew for the aquarium is... the owner. The rest is just an helping hand.
You guys doing these videos together puts me in mind of Amy & Sheldon when they present "Fun with Flags" :-)
Great suggestions! I recently added a group of rosy loaches in with my shy Pygmy Cory’s and the tank is thriving with activity now. They make a great combo!
I was just thinking about a clean-up crew in my 20 gallon long! This video definitely helped out with suggesting a few species that may go well with my betta and green neon tetra crew!
The perfect video I needed. Also @The Small Scape Mini complete aquariums are now selling 2 different nano canister filters. They come with mini glass inlets and outlets. And they're on sale currently. I don't know if you want to check them out or not. The black filter is on sale for a lot cheaper than the silver, so I don't know if you would want to get 2 or not. Just thought I'd help☺
Great suggestions. Happy Monday! :)
Love my dwarf chain loaches! They were hard to find, hope they get more common in the hobby
I love the way you design your tanks
Awesome video!! Happy Monday!! 😊
Happy Monday! Great vid.
I am learning so much from you about nano tanks! In the future I would love to set up a 5-10g. neo-shrimp tank.
Thank you!
Here in Tasmania snails and shrimps are illegal so trying to sort out a clean up crew for nano tanks is sometimes difficult
Always good ideas from ya'll.
👍💖👍
I just got some albino corydoras yesterday, so video is kinda coincidental.
Brought home some amano shrimp this weekend! Though not very colorful they are pretty cool to watch and went right to work 😂
Just want to say you guys are great. Even with success you remain humble and informative. Love this channel. Always great info and advice. Cheers from the beautiful South Carolina Coast...
Thank you for being here!
For the first time my mystery snails laid eggs. 2 bundles have hatched. I have the babies in a small grow out tank. They are so cute.
Woohoo!
I'm team nerite, I love the fact that they can only reproduce effectively in brackish water so you get to choose exactly how many to have in a freshwater tank, no surprise offspring
Same with Amano shrimp.
It gets a little annoying if you have one they lays eggs all over the tank though
Happy Monday
Good Morning.
Sweet Georgia Brown! A 3.5 gallon LONG! I didn't know such a thing existed!
It’s a mighty fine tank!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Though she be tiny, she is mighty, I have no doubt 😉
I’ve got some bronze Cory’s in the bottom of my 55, they are a hoot
Thanks Alot👍
Amano shrimp are a pretty good clean-up crew and 3 can keep a 5-gallon nice and tidy whilst being too big for a betta to swallow. I have a clown pleco in a 72 gallon but he isn't very efficient and hide a lot [ although I don't mind bcuz I got him due to his appearance]. mystery snails are fun though and my two bumble around enraging my geophagus steindachneri. my only complaint is that they love plants unlike nerites which only eat plants when really hungry and I regularly feed them overgrown salvinia [ same goes for giant Colombian ramshorn snails]. neo shrimp are cool too but don't have much as far as their algae consumption unless in huge groups. i also have some pygmy and hastatus cories [ i need to get more as i only have 5 between the group] and they work great with shrimp. but my all-time fav is the bristlenose pleco. i have a very small individual which i bred temporarily residing in my shrimp tank who does a great job, and the adults are even cooler
Good video
I love Cory cats. I don't think i've ever had a tropical community tank that was void of Cory cats. Especially the cute little albino ones.
When I first started with a 20 gallon my clown pleco simply disappeared I didn’t find it anywhere for months. I thought it had died and maybe was already eaten. Ended up getting a bristlenose and eventually got rid of a large decor that turned out the pleco was still in!
My 10 gallon cleanup crew - 5 amano shrimp and 5 clithon corona snails. Amano shrimp anihilate all algea from surfaces, clithon corona snails - from glass. I don't have a single speck of algea in that tank :) Highly suggest!
Totally off topic, so I do apologize for that. I love your channel and am subscribed! I couldn't find a video on how long a bacteria bloom may last in a new tank?
Used Fritzzyme 7 (awesome product) and waited 5 days to introduce my 3-4" long comet goldfish into it. He's in heaven, and all is well, but I have the milky water from the bloom. Oh, and should I do a slight water change? Or will that just slow down the cycling?
30 gallon, no live plants of yet, but when the weather cools down so I can get some shipped, I'm adding those.
Thanks so much for all you two do to contribute to fish care! I loved your explanation of cycling!!!
You can certainly do a large water change . It may help.
scuds will eat every type of algae , all of it , also detritus . and fish get a snack when the catch one .
update , if there are no fish to keep scud population under control , they will eat all of you java moss , Christmas moss , hornwort and the roots off everything apparently.....
Question.. I have a female betta just about 1 inch and about to move her into a 20 gallon long and want to add some "schooling" type fish. What types of fish would work with her size that wouldn't stress her out?
Check out our Betta Buddies video! Lots of options there.
Any advice for a bottom feeder to clean up uneaten food in a ten gallon that has 3 dwarf crayfish in it?
That can be tough. I might just let them do the job?
If I want to add a mystery snail or two to a 10 gallon tank with pygmy corys, will the corys steal all the uneaten bits from the snails? Thanks!
No, plus you can always feed the mystery snails after the lights go off too.
Hi guys, what is that twig catfish looking beauty at 4:46 ?
That is a Lizard Tail Pleco L10a
@@PrimeTimeAquatics A most interesting looking fish I must say...thank you
Hi Ik this video is a bit old, but I have a 10g and currently have 6 cardinal tetra and a mystery snail. Is it possible to add pygmy corys or would that overstock my tank?
Sure!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics how many would you recommend?
I got some red cherry shrimp in my 30 liter/8 gallon tank with 10-14 Heterandria Formosa, that I bought partly from a local breeder here in Denmark and a my LFS. Four questions. The shrimp seem to eat some algae’s
1: Are 10-14 too many in size that small a tank for HF fish?
2: I got a small baby HF fish. How often do the female give birth to fry? I read that they give birth every 2-3 days in between and not like any other livebearer like guppies
3: Do neocaridina eat algae and leftover food? I do feed them shrimp pellets. I just don’t want to over feed fish and shrimp.
4: I’m planning to break down mycommunity tank with among others endlers, ember tetras and other fish in that size. I just got tired of the community tank and planning to have a one species tank with one species of fish and some cleanup crew like shrimp or snails. I’m kinda fond of the idea of a US native fish tank. So are there any livebearing fish small enough to keep in a 54 liter/ 14 gallon tank that are native to continental USA? Obviously the cleanup crew may not necessarily be native to USA (just like the Heterandria Formosa and the cherry shrimp). If not native to USA then some other not so normal live bearer like guppy or molly. Been thinking of metallic livebearer, pygmy swordtail, any of the skiffia genus. Or maybe I just should keep my endlers in that tank
Your stocking should be ok. You may have to remove some of the fry to keep it down though. There are wild guppies in addition to the H. formosa you can keep in a 14 gallon. The shrimp will eat food that falls to the bottom for sure!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thanks for the answer. Always enjoy your both UA-cam channels and we learn so much from you
No Otos? I guess maybe not great for smaller tanks. I have 3 in a 20 long and they love eating algae. I am going to try Pygmy Cory’s on your suggestion.
Ya, we like them in 20 gallons are larger
I am building a nano PALUDARIUM for some juvenile mourning geckos. Very very tiny geckos from Hawaii. It's gonna be in small tank, about 4 gallons, and obviously part of it will be land and branches for the geckos.Would a single nerite snail still be able to thrive and live a long happy life if the water is only a few inches deep? Also, does anybody know if the snails would be a danger to the geckos. The nerites I've seen at the store are easily 2 - 3× larger than the baby geckos.
It would probably do ok.
Are you able to keep Otocinclus alive in your high PH? I can’t keep any Otos alive past 36 hours even with 3 hours of drip acclimation in my 8.2+ PH, 0GH water.
Nope - they die every time.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics haven’t had this much trouble with any other fish, even tetras that also prefer acidic water
Min 4:49, what is that in the front middle. Not habrosus, more like a Farowalla?
Maybe the L11a lizard tail pleco?
Can a clown pleco live with guppies
Sure
You forgot happy Monday 😂
Newbie here, please don’t bash me in the comment section people lol. I have a 10 gallon with 4 platties,
4 mollies, and 3 black skirt tetras. Am I way over stocked for 10 gallon.
Don’t worry you won’t get bashed here for being new. I probably wouldn’t add anything else. The mollies and black skirts would probably be better off in at least a 20 gallon long term. Have fun!
Thank You!
Might want to mention the snails poop A LOT so be prepared.
I'm ok with exchanging lots of algae for a little waste. :-)
Amano shrimp, Nerite snails and dwarf Plecos.
