Dave Strider Oh, don't be so hard on yourselves. To be fair, your session was literally doomed from the start, and that's not even counting all the failed timelines. You should be proud you managed to do something, even if it was just passing the metaphorical torch to your pseudo alter-egos. Oh, and future Karkat says hi, and he's mad at you for something he says he can't mention other than how stupid it was. I wouldn't worry too much though, that's just Karkat being Karkat. Larry Psuedonym That's true. I just meant the "torch" of progressing through a Sburb session. It's hard for me to keep track of so many plots at once so I often forget major things.
EchoL0C0 Well, really, the new session is a session with both of the sets of kids in it. The alpha kids can't progress alone due to it being a void session. Thanks to Jade's handiwork, it's kinda an incredibly weird session and it's hard to say that even that is just them now.
The original Doctor song bit at the end fading out is so poetic, considering the tragedy that happened almost a year ago. Rest in peace, you helped a lot of people George..
To me, this was the moment when THE John Egbert, the windy boy, the real child, died. And then a new form of him was reborn as not himself but another John Egbert. He's still John, but not the one that began the game. The real John Egbert is dead. That's why this is such a pivotal moment in the comic.
he means that this is the first real death in the alpha timeline. the death of john to his denizen in act 4 was a doomed timeline with consequences on the alpha timeline.
God tiers have to die on their questbed before ascending, the memories of the original body are passed on to the dreamself clone to continue, the original dies and becomes a ghost

Long about 12 years ago, I saw this animation in Homestuck of a young man dying and resurrecting as a god. It changed so much about me that I continued to pursue music as a hobby and hopefully career, it made me realize that anyone can change for the better, and I respect the woman who did the same. Who dared to stand up and say "this is who I am". I honor her and her loss of life. I honor the kid who lived in his friend's basement who went on to become, really a legend. When I first heard this song I was in middle school going into high school and it helped me through a lot of those times this song became my theme song and I could not get enough of it.

I'm just listening to Homestuck music again, and while listening to this I was like "Why am I getting an Undertale vibe to this? Hopes and Dreams kind of sounds like this." Then I saw the description. OF COURSE.
+Dawn Darrell Samaitha I love how people are coming here after playing Undertale. A lot of us went the opposite direction (started with Homestuck, learned that Toby Fox is an absolute boss, found out about Undertale and confirmed initial teory that Toby is, indeed, an absolute boss), so we're all getting to know more of his works! ^^
Adriele (Drih) Evangelista Oh. ^^; Well, actually I began reading Homestuck many years before knowing about Undertale, in fact one of the many reasons that I got interested in checking out Undertale is finding out that Megalovania was in the game, MeGaLoVaNia was one of my favorite Homestuck music.
May I remind you that the beta kids were not the only ones who played SBURB. Everyone forgets that when Rose went to GameFAQs, 'there were several entries, but they got shorter and harder to interpret the more time went on. If SBURB were to ever exist, only one session would actually survive.
This inspired me to write. The stuff I wrote probably doesn't relate to the song's true meaning, but just hearing this song speaks to me in some strange way. Anyway, here we go. _A true hero is someone that hasn't defeated each of its enemies mercilessly or has let the blood of life drip upon his hands without thought. A hero is someone that can look at his opponents and understand the cause of their actions while making them pay their price with the same mark they've left upon those they've struck havoc upon. A hero is someone who remembers that all life is precious, and with each swing of the sword there will be tears and bloodshed to be lost. A hero is one who cares not only about the award, but the loss as well._
First Last Ha, gracias! I guess it's because my grandmother was a writer and taught me a little about it before she died. I guess I just cary on some kinda crazy gene or something c:
A hero is one who never loses sight of what they're fighting for, and one who does not ignore fear, but accepts it and does what is right despite it. A hero is one who will do what is right, despite what others say, and knowing the consequences they will inflict upon themself. Yet a hero will also take heed that what they do to themself will affect others, and so remember that while they do not lose sight of what they are fighting for, they also do not lose sight of *who* they are fighting for.
Here because Toby yet again snuck a homestuck song into a Pokémon game (See: "Clive Reveal" from Pokémon scarlet and violet) He can't keep getting away with this!
Seeing this the first time on the flash pretty much made it hit home, and it is now the song I think of when someone goes beyond their own power. Everything that happened up to john gaining his god tier really showed just how far one would have to go to gain it, and this song also shows that going god tier is an awesome thing to behold.
- Toby Fox explaining to Andrew Hussie why he doesn't want the full version of PENUMBRA PHANTASM to be used in Homestuck (he wants to use said full version in DELTARUNE), 2011
Same but yesterday where I live I thought he had a grudge in a nearby county (Crawford County PA South of my hometown) because of multiple Tornadic thunderstorms
God, it's so weird to listen to this again. This was the song that introduced me to Homestuck, and I've read the entirety of the comic up to whatever update it was at almost three times over now, and it's just an amazing feeling to listen to this again after all of that.
and in that dream, gamzee was subdued; Then the horror terrors were dealt with. The dream is over. Even when you try to avoid things, it still comes back until it is over.

My feelings for Homestuck might have changed a lot (I still love the webcomic, and I'm pretty sure I'll cry my eyes out when it's over, but it's different from a few years ago), but this song will have a place in my heart forever.
Imagine of its for Chapter 7. Kris goes down during the final fight, the game says it’s parting words, and then crashes. You go reopen it again and you hear a faint melody growing sttonger and stronger, and now you’re back. To continue fighting.
sometimes i forget how beautiful this comic is. the art, the music, the story, how we all have grown up with it. i really miss it. this comic will always have a special place in my heart and im so happy it exists.
Idk why but when ever I hear this song I run to my room and change into my John Egbert cosplay costume then I run around the house yelling DO THE WINDY THING!
This song makes me feel emotional, it's been a long time since I'm not active in the fandom anymore but from time to time I come back to listen again. Some of the things homestuck left me is the awesome music and art.
Sometimes I doubt my status as a Homestuck. Why I'm still a part of this fandom that everyone hates to be around. Why I'm still interested in the characters and story of this comic, even though it's been so long since the last post, and as far as I know, there's no telling when the next update is. Then I listen to this song, and I understand why.
This is definitely my favorite remix of Doctor, as well as my favorite song in the Homestuck series. I am beyond happy to have heard this as John's awakening theme.
It wasn't until roughly a year ago or so that I went and listened to a majority of Homestuck's music, and this song is by far what convinced me to actually give a damn about what I create. It made me understand what makes creating so beautiful, it helped me realize that I had potential as a creative person, and that it was more important than anything that I help myself actualize that potential. This comic and the media surrounding it are truly one-of-a-kind. I seriously cannot begin to accurately state how blessed we are to have such a wonderful mess on our hands.
MSPA is down. Maybe we'll have an upd8 today, maybe we won't. But if we do, we'll be going God Tier as a fandom, so this is a proper song for the day. ...Jesus Christ I'm getting emotional
It was on this day,in which I wasn't there for,the day John Egbert died. Even thought I got into this fandom last year very late,I managed to caught up but still isn't finished Currently Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 1. The John we knew died and came back. Edit: I finished this webcomic but I wished that I was there when Homestuck was developing and not ended up being in like a year earlier before Act 7 Whenever I hear this song I'm always reminded of memories that I wasn't even there for and it still makes me want to cry how awesome this comic is.
CraftyEthan LOL Awared It's fun to see other Homestucks on other forums as well. Like I saw a whole bunch of people post in Gamzee's original quirk on the Overwatch subreddit.
I can remember the moment when I saw John die. I had the same reaction as WV did. Just totally flabbergasted, then all teary eyed, then fucking mad at Jack who, I think is the most badass villain of all time wearin' bro's shades and shit.
No joking now, I'm serious as hell. I want this song to be played on my funeral. There are two songs - this one (+"Savior of the Dreaming Dead", which is its harder version) and "Green Sun" - that played on beta-kids ascending. So it's kinda like "Savior" is an ascending theme for Prospit dreamers, and "Green Sun" is for Derse dreamers. So, as a prospitian, I want it to be played after I die. I won't hear it playing - I'll be dead, obviously - but I want people who come to mourn over me to know I didn't just die. I ascended. My mom will likely be dead already, as well as my other older relatives. So the people who'll come will be mostly my peer friends. They'll get it. And I hope it'll make them feel better.
This song makes me so nostalgic, but in a different way. It makes me sit here in awe as I remember watching this animation for the first time, on the verge of tears, because I thought a good friend was lost. Every time I listen to it, I just get this warm feeling of sadness and happiness, because of how much I love this comic, with the good and the bad. Now that it's finally over, I might read it again, just to relive all of those emotions.
1 John 4:13-21 13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.

Same here!
And when I read comments like this, I'm compelled to cringe.
And the fandom reduces it to pain and gore.
I thought getting goosebumps from a song was metaphorical or something until about two seconds ago.
I'm just listening to Homestuck music again, and while listening to this I was like "Why am I getting an Undertale vibe to this? Hopes and Dreams kind of sounds like this."
Then I saw the description.
OF COURSE.
+Dawn Darrell Samaitha Hmmm, to me it has always sounded more like His Theme.
Annie Wedgeworth it kind of does as well.
Question: Am I allowed to cry?
Yes, yes you are
Edwin VanCleef commence the river then

cry me a river, build me a bridge and get 0ver it
Always
That piano part at 1:41 is absolutely gorgeous.
All homestuck songs make me feel that were going to play the game 'SBURB somehow
+Just a normal troll hey btw can i join ur 5e55ion? it 5eem5 cool lol
Dat Weird 69er sURE
wHY tHE fUCK nOT? :3
+Just a normal troll there are like four fandoms mashed together here... and I love it.
+Fiona Wait You mean five, right?
WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD AT WRITING?
First Last Ha, gracias! I guess it's because my grandmother was a writer and taught me a little about it before she died. I guess I just cary on some kinda crazy gene or something c:
Maybe, maybe....
McLovin' Egbert this is the best I have ever read. Better than the bullshit they teach us a GCSE
Here because Toby yet again snuck a homestuck song into a Pokémon game (See: "Clive Reveal" from Pokémon scarlet and violet)
He can't keep getting away with this!
This is my favorite homestuck song ever. I liked the comic, but when john went god tier and this music played i really fell in love
then he did some windy shit
When I saw John get stabbed I thought "oh. so its done? that fast? huh."
L0op_ButTon boy were you wrong!
L0op_ButTon COULD'VE GAVE ME A FRIKEN SPOILER WARNING
If you haven't gotten to this part why are you even here
Cause he want to listen to the music :v
***** thank you
happy 4/13 yall it's time to cry
EVERYTHING IS OVER
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Shhhh. *paps*
SHH
ONLY DR34MS NOW
;(
+Christoph TSS SHH.
ONLY M3M3S NOW.
Bryce McClure I guess memes...make me happy? :/
Seeing this the first time on the flash pretty much made it hit home, and it is now the song I think of when someone goes beyond their own power. Everything that happened up to john gaining his god tier really showed just how far one would have to go to gain it, and this song also shows that going god tier is an awesome thing to behold.
I think this is the theme that makes people realize how much HomeStuck evolved into a more "serious" webcomic
god even to this day i still listen to this,, this song is so good i hope its never forgotten :(
I literally dreamed of this song last night.
- Toby Fox explaining to Andrew Hussie why he doesn't want the full version of PENUMBRA PHANTASM to be used in Homestuck (he wants to use said full version in DELTARUNE), 2011
Bro shattered the twilight reverie
Every time the wind blows, I always think it's John doing his windy thing. Homestuck has changed me.
Same but yesterday where I live I thought he had a grudge in a nearby county (Crawford County PA South of my hometown) because of multiple Tornadic thunderstorms
Whenever it's windy this song gets stuck in my head, and then when I listen to it I feel.....I feel...... like I'm GONNA CRY!
6 years later Same
savior of the waking world means a lot to me its very significant
10/10, would listen again.
Remember to listen again.
God, it's so weird to listen to this again. This was the song that introduced me to Homestuck, and I've read the entirety of the comic up to whatever update it was at almost three times over now, and it's just an amazing feeling to listen to this again after all of that.
Happy Birthday John
Toby is beyond genius
and in that dream, gamzee was subdued; Then the horror terrors were dealt with. The dream is over. Even when you try to avoid things, it still comes back until it is over.
Still makes me cry after all these years
Usagi Buzinkai had done so much and inspired this song, and a gorgeous animation.
John rose up and went god tier, becoming much more than he was before. I'd say Buzinkai did the same.
R.I.P Usagi Buzinkai

I get major His Theme vibes from this. Darn you Toby!
THERE WASN'T EVEN ANY LEITMOTIF!?
Definitely! Toby has this amazing style and it makes his songs easy to pick out!
Try But the Earth refused to die but with Doctor
@@hesiod_delta9209 i think i did hear a leitmotif! around 1:16 i hear "before the story" from deltarune. that song also has the same leitmotif as a lot of the songs from undertale (hopes and dreams etc.,)
I don’t know how to explain it but this song has a Christmas-y feel to it.
"This is how we know that we live in Him and He in us: He has given us of his Breath. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the World."
- 1 John 4:13-14
"Some aspects of the dream will travel the veil,
and live with the dreamer in the waking world."
john had the best and worst birthday ever
My feelings for Homestuck might have changed a lot (I still love the webcomic, and I'm pretty sure I'll cry my eyes out when it's over, but it's different from a few years ago), but this song will have a place in my heart forever.
I keep praying for another homestuck song to make it into the Undertale/Deltarune universe could you imagine if it was this??? Would be perfect.
Just search for "She is playing piano" lol
Wait please explain?
@@doodoo2065 it's in alphys's theme too
Imagine of its for Chapter 7. Kris goes down during the final fight, the game says it’s parting words, and then crashes. You go reopen it again and you hear a faint melody growing sttonger and stronger, and now you’re back. To continue fighting.
You guys, you guys.
*John isn't just the Wind Waker. He's an airbender.*
I see
Damn he is the real aang
Wind waker/airbender
sometimes i forget how beautiful this comic is. the art, the music, the story, how we all have grown up with it. i really miss it. this comic will always have a special place in my heart and im so happy it exists.
Idk why but when ever I hear this song I run to my room and change into my John Egbert cosplay costume then I run around the house yelling DO THE WINDY THING!
Tisten Reeder I wanna do that ;---;
It’s criminal how WV and John never had a nice reunion in act 6. WV is literally John’s exile and saw John as a hero.
To keep with the doctor puns from the remixes of this very leitmotif...
"GET UP JOHN, I'M DYING, I NEED YOU, COME BACK FOR FUCK'S SAKE!"
+goldengear1000 you could go to undertale fandom for the meantime until Hussie gets shit done.
I'm in the Undertale fandom as well. I just love Homestuck so much, and it's a shame to see the fandom in such a shit state.
+goldengear1000 there is a new official UA-cam channel for Homestuck you should check it out
my aesthetic is replaying this song over and over
im so fucking dumb i read it as "savior of the walking world" im dissapointed in myself
This is still one of my favourite flashes and songs in the series :,)
"10 years ago" holy shit
This is definitely my favorite remix of Doctor, as well as my favorite song in the Homestuck series.
I am beyond happy to have heard this as John's awakening theme.
Why is this soundtrack so good?
After listening to a lot of his work I can hear that this piece is clearly Toby's work.
Love this man. Great job!
Hey buddy I know you probably expected pretty much no one to see this message, but I saw it, and I just wanted to say I'm happy fir you :)
I love the melody that sound at the beggining of this song and in most of Homestuck songs. I love doctor's melody.
MSPA is down. Maybe we'll have an upd8 today, maybe we won't. But if we do, we'll be going God Tier as a fandom, so this is a proper song for the day.
...Jesus Christ I'm getting emotional
Me too man. Need a tissue?
IMO this was the page in Homestuck that got the music just right. I had so many feels when watching this page.
It was on this day,in which I wasn't there for,the day John Egbert died.
Even thought I got into this fandom last year very late,I managed to caught up but still isn't finished
Currently Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 1.
The John we knew died and came back.
Edit: I finished this webcomic but I wished that I was there when Homestuck was developing and not ended up being in like a year earlier before Act 7
Whenever I hear this song I'm always reminded of memories that I wasn't even there for and it still makes me want to cry how awesome this comic is.
lol I got into the fandom very late as well, I only finished in june...
I got into it a few weeks ago. Can't stop reading it xD
CraftyEthan LOL Awared I just finished on Thursday. Holy crap what a story.
insert first name here insert last name here I just finished it like 2 months ago (September)
Damn it's a good read.
_Starts crying hysterically_
To whoever wrote this song years ago, I blame you for pleasantly making my insides ache to the tune of death and rebirth
I'm listening to this as I write about John not able to go to the new universe, and as everything falls around him. It is fitting... strangely
man, this gives me chills. the feeling and atmosphere of this music (and flash) is just so incredible.
I guarantee you won't feel this way when you are no longer a teenager
@@staircaseofkneecaps783 nah, this song is awesome dude
ASCEND
This song makes me so nostalgic, but in a different way. It makes me sit here in awe as I remember watching this animation for the first time, on the verge of tears, because I thought a good friend was lost. Every time I listen to it, I just get this warm feeling of sadness and happiness, because of how much I love this comic, with the good and the bad. Now that it's finally over, I might read it again, just to relive all of those emotions.
God this song is so hype, remember when ascension was a big deal
It takes strength and courage to place your faith in a hero. Someone who is honest, kind, and... worthy.
In a way that many others... aren't.
this reminds me of the finale of amphibia and now i see that john rise up could go hand in hand with anne dying and coming back
1:40 hm where have i heard that before
It's been a long time since i didn't listen a song so amazing.
Manly tears were shed
ELEVEN YEARS AGO...........
1 John 4:13-21
13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
Jade's kinda similar, only hers was Savior of the Dreaming Dead c:
