I feel these short burst speed tests are not anymore relevant for flagship phones given how much good the SOCs have become, you should compare the sustain performance under heavy load for these flagships

Ram management has definitely taken a hit on s21. Earlier they were able to keep all apps in ram
It's because Samsung started to close apps that use a certain about of resources at a time to save battery you can disable it/change it in settings for how long apps can be open. But the iPhone to the cake this time.
it's manageable via settings. you can easily allow all apps to remain resident in memory or opt in / out some of them and so on.

even I am using S21 Ultra exynos variant. but i found that my geekbench scores are single core:466 and multi core:1755 rather than yours exynos variant (sungle core:1084 and muLti core:3492)...can I do anything about it..I am from India

The iphone 13 could easily last you a decade. I have an iphone 6 that was released seven years ago in 2014 and its still perfectly fine apart from its battery. In the iphone 13 nothing would get drastically worse over the years. Its battery life will still be fine, it's camera will still be great and it's processor will never struggle. It's absolutely worth it for me. 😄

I'm super excited for the Google Pixel pro 6 to have this test against it. I'm really hoping with this new chip that they've created, that it will hold its own against both of these phones. It really doesn't bother me if one wins and the other one loses back and forth on different experiences, if it averages out. Because then, I feel like all three fans are at least getting pretty great phones.
Google silicon was designed with Samsung's help. Their leaked SoC configuration is very weird but I'm sure they have reasons for that. I suspect that the performance will be better than Snapdragon 888 but in these kinds of tests it won't make a difference. Brute forcing "app opening" and "loading times" with hardware doesn't cut it anymore, developers now need to optimize their apps to use the power from these chips properly. I'm sure native Google apps will be buttery smooth though, their older Pixel had ridiculous speed considering the chips were mostly mid-tier but third party apps...it won't be really different from what you see in the video. These chips are getting too crazy for what they are needed. They should be slapping these in laptops #MoreM1sInTheWorld

I'm actually kind of excited to see what they're doing with that chip since it has two of the higher end and then showing that it's got a lower end chips also. I'm wondering if it's because it actually will make it more beneficial, in a wild way. Or if it will actually be a way of getting the price down. There's a lot of different opportunities about it, just everyone is wondering why they went a little lower on those middle cores. I'm curious how they're even going to market it! If they're going to justify their reasoning or if they're just going to gloss over it and not even worry about talking what others are thinking? And then there is the third option that I'm kind of hoping for, and that there is more than one SOC. And the SOC we saw is for the regular six and they'll be another configuration for the six pro. They are using 3rd generation old Arm cortex-A76 for maximum performance which is weird. I don't think pixel 6 series is gonna be fast as latest iPhones or s21,S22.

they literally comparing a year old samsung phone instead of the s22 ultra to the new iphone that hasn't even released yet. Ofcourse it's gonna be slightly faster. What's sad is that it's a year newer than the phone it's being compared to and only that much faster with still having slower charging and a worse camera

The cameras are better? This opinion is entirely subjective, but arrogantly shitting on apples cameras is just irrelevant. And the pro max can actually charge at 27watts, while the s21 ultra charges at 25. Additionally, the pro max has a substantially smaller battery than the s21's 5000 milliamp hours which results the pro max to charge faster

Most chips perform very well in short bursts but how is their sustained performance under load? That is the most important question for gaming and computation because one will usually start to see thermal throttling after around 5 to 10 minutes which devastates the performance - up to half of the peak performance as is the case with the furnace that is the Exynos 990. In future I'd like to see tests for sustained performance. 3D mark has a nice 20 minute test which shows the performance drop over time as temps increase.
Yea I'm wondering if apple is still forcing dimming after playing any heavy games for like 20-30mins, almost all phones in the last 5 years perform pretty much the same in short bursts

I’m an iPhone XS Max user, I will buy a 13 pro Max soon. I like both Apple and Samsung because both of them only compete each other. Samsung is the king of android being able to compete with apple. I gotta say Samsung and apple are the only ones sharing stuff like sharing the same screen. We apple users use screens made by Samsung whereas Samsung uses battery made by apple etc. It’s truly beautiful how they help each other out with stuff while users are fighting about who’s better. Idk who’s better, I think when it comes to being better it’s more about which software you prefer? iOS or Android? If you can answer that question, you know which device to buy🤷🏻♂️

App opening speeds stopped being an issue for me after iPhone 5S and up when it was new. Now, the benchmark should be how fast these phones are after years og use and wear and tear, measureing how they would hold up. There is simply no reason to test which phone opens up an app faster when they're new. I simply cannot see the benefit of on e or the other laucnhing UA-cam 150ms faster.
Now this also leads to which phone manufacturer keeps updating older phones the most. iPhone 6 and 6S is still having IOS updates, where Samsung usually leaves major updates out after 2-3 years. Longyevity would go to iPhone.
As an example, in 2019 I got the Galaxy S10 +, as of today it isn't really "Slow" but I have started to see hiccups/stutters here and there that was non-existent when it was new. My wifes iPhone 8 is still going smooth and just as fast, only downside being the battery. And it has IOS 15!
I simply cannot justify buying any Samsung device for that matter alone. Day one speed means nothing, longyevity does.
Yeah. I'm planning to switch from Samsung to Apple. Samsung's phones are just as, if not more expensive (due to higher depreciation of value) than iPhones. My phone still has bugs (GPS issue for months that went unfixed) but obviously Samsung doesn't care enough about their old customers
agreed, i had an s8 from launch and the way it stutters is nasty, had to install a custom rom, overclock the damn thing and still would lag compared to an iphone 7 plus which gets slightly hotter but doesnt lag even after half a decade
I also have a Samsung (S7 to be exact) and I also used to be an Apple hater. But the more I think about it and after many consideration, I wanna buy an iPhone lol. It last so long, I love the longevity of iPhone. And I still can't believe how the iPhone 6 still support an update (IOS 15), Despite almost 7 years? Great.

An Android phone is like a Windows PC, if you clean all the junk and keep the software clean, it runs the same speed as day one, the only difference is, newer phones become faster.
From the S10 it's 3 years of updates and 5 years of security patches. If someone was really that bothered about keeping an old device, they could flash a custom rom with the latest Android version, you could even port the OS over yourself. There isn't one person o know though that keeps ap phone longer than 2 or 3 years, accept my Great Grandma.
In the future if u ever do speed tests in this formate, atleast open the app once before hand and set up the app, that changes speeds dramatically

@@albanos.13 not to mention blasting the contrast is an easy way to trick a consumer into thinking it's a better display, which is why TVs do it in stores and Samsung does it to their photos and screens. I'm not sure if the S21 does it to their screens by default but in Linus's review of the new Fold, he was disgusted by the colors of the screen only to find out later it was set by default to be overly high contrast in the settings so he had to change it.

The raw performance of the A15 is absolutely insane, but for most people, it really will not make that huge of a difference. But, a considerably more powerful chip is always welcome and will be great for keeping a phone running smooth for a lot of years.
But it can’t even do a split screen multitask like the S21 can. Also no always on display. What a waste of power.

Even though both screens have 120Hz it does seem to me that S21U looks smoother, the iPhone has these transition animations that look like what we call 'ghosting-effect' that happens in screens with lower refresh rates

Doing anything intensive (real work) the iPhone pulls way ahead. That render test is a perfect example.

Yes. These tests are completely subjective. And he is using the Exynos version which is inferior to Samsungs Qualcomm chip. I use the S21U and I never lag (SD888). But you are right.
The iphone should destroy S21 ultra, because it has faster NVME storage. I'm not sure what is wrong with the iphone.

I’m so glad Samsung smoothed out the animations for games and other large apps. There’s nothing I hated more than seeing apps just pop open like it’s 2013. It always made the Samsung phones seem less capable compared to iPhones.

Two great phones. Lets look at it this way. Android has come so far over the last couple of years. It’s literally up there with iOS. A few years ago android was buggy sloppy slow and stuttery. Now look at it. ! That in itself is enough for me.

@Asal Nidal There have been leaks that show the AMD x Exynos collab being up to 3x more performant in games compared to the A14. Either way we'll have to see, but even if the exynos does win imo things like refresh rate/touch smapling rate mater wayyyy more than a few extra fps, which is why people don't tend to use iPhones as a gaming phone.

New Linux kernel (acc a big deal bc its now mostly the mainline 5.10 kernel so it should run extra great)
Arm v9 is 20% more efficient and faster
The sd 898 will have brand new arm cores and be 4nm (5nm pushed to the max where they fixed all issues like heating and further pushed battery efficiency and power along with updating all other aspects of the chip like the isp ,gpu ,ai etc)

It'll also have a more energy efficient display Samsung e5

All the gimmicks will actually be pretty usable as the hardware can finally match the visions. No more lag or shit camera quality for all those dozens of modes and features.
The display has also been nailed in the sense of screen to body ratio whilst still having enough to hold on to.

@@Se7enGates technically the galaxy s21 is samsung's 2021 phone option being released in January this year. The s22 isn't coming out until next year so the s21 ultra is the logical, best, and only option to compare with the best iPhone at the moment

Samsung has really improved the optimization in exynos 2100 and its quicker in loading games and apps compared to iphone's a15 so just imagine how fast will be the samsung exynos 2200 with AMD GPU, thats not even supported by the geekbench 5 because its that's good.

You should not be surprised that the Geekbench scores are not representative of the actual performance, except in certain tasks that are not really necessary on a phone like video editing, every year the Samsungs hold there own. Considering the S21 is 8 months old and the Snapdragon may well be faster still. What was very clear from your video is that the gaming and video experience is far better without a notch.

@@Racko. I think what your talking about is the aggressive nature in which OEM's kill apps and yes they do this to save battery. However, the difference between Android and iOS is, Android is a mini desktop environment and therefore needs more ram.
I still run all the apps in this video without reloading on an S20 Ultra and without playing around with developers options. Maybe when videos like this are made, the devices should be factory reset first.

I've always been a Samsung fan but honestly in my opinion even though Samsung's phones are good I don't like them anymore for a few reasons (Specifically the s21 ultra)
1. They removed the headphone jack
2. They removed the micro sd slot
3. Camera bump is too big
4. The curved display is barely even curved anymore
And yes I understand that the iphonr 13 doesn't have a headphone jack and micro sd slot but at this point in my opinion they are similar enough that its just a matter of preference and I prefer the iphone 13 for a few reasons...
1. They care about privacy
2. 120hz screen
3. Better cameras
4. Better optimization for apps

Have the apps being used in this test been optimised for the new A15 chipset yet? As this may make a difference with the outcome. Plus is it possible to do more heavy duty tasks such as export and importing 4K vids and images as that really tests the processor to its maximum potential, as the speed tests done currently don’t really show that.

Asphalt 9 is not faster on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Because you opened the game on the iPhone 13 Pro Max for the first time and it had to render to open the Game center, you do this mistake every time you make a comparison. Also the iPhone apps has more featured settings to load than the Android apps as you said yourself.
One fact you should know that both phone use the same factory display. Samsung display division really amazing. Love it.

App are custom made for each OS , basic difference is they are made such a way that they work very well in their respective OS i.e.Android and IOS .
You should’ve reset the S21 to factory settings. RAM was obviously used already since apps were already opened there. Some apps run faster though since they’ve been opened before
This is totally true. No one can take conclusions about which phone is faster when testing opening an app that was already opened before on Samsung, and is opening for the first time in iPhone. When an app is opened for the first time, it might have more processes going on, which takes more time to load.
Honestly application loading has more to do with speed of memory rather than cpu speed. This shows Samsungs memory speeds are slightly faster but a cpu intensive application and the iPhone blows the s21 away

Speaking of ram management this is a perfect example why spec wars don’t mean anything. iOS is just written better and doesn’t need 12 plus gigs of ram. If you knocked both phones down to 4 gigs of ram I bet the S21 would be useless while the iPhone would still work

If that Samsung S21 Ultra has Exynos 2100 in it that's absolutely not as good as the Snapdragon 888. The Exynos is far behind the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 but the A15 does have higher benchmark scores but real world comparisons are very similar and to the average consumer you won't notice a huge difference between S21 Ultra (SD888) and iPhone 13 Pro Max (A15 Bionic)
