Nice work. I have used heat lots of time to straighten metal. I use ice cold towels. I have heated bent pieces and watch them. When they shrink to just about straight I throw the towels on it to stop the shrinking. There is an art to knowing just where to put the heat. Take care and stay safe. Tom
Seems like I got the pucks off eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/9-Ford-Deluxe-Rearend-Narrowing-Fixture-w-Rearend-Ruler-9-inch-Ford-Rear-End-/224349839272?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292. Had to source the bar locally. Can’t remember how much it cost.
I have a 2013 mustang with both rear tires wear 2mm faster on each tread divider towards outer tread like a positive camber wear. Could it be a bent 8.8 axle housing?
I sent a reply but wasn’t thinking... I’ve read that 8.8 tubes aren’t always welded to the center section, so it’s possible they’re not straight. A four wheel alignment sheet would show a difference in rear camber. (Btw, I thought mustangs from around 06-on were independent rear suspension?)
Hey man I noticed you were wearing a shirt with the Texas logo on it what part of Texas are you based in, I’m asking because I bent my rear differential on my 09 f150 fx4 the other day and I’ve been seeing people unbend them instead of buying a brand new differential. I want to see if I could unbend mine and not buy a new differential
I'm near Texarkana. An 09 is going to have a different axle than I'm working on here. Im pretty sure my equipment will not do the job. But I am sure you could buy the right stuff. But maybe for the same price you could buy another rear end from a junk yard.
Awesome thanks for the video. Gonna try tomorrow with two mapp gas torches, if it doesn't work gonna pick up an oxy setup on Monday, I've always wanted one but couldn't justify it
If anyone has ever had the tiniest piece of hot metal in their eyes they would'nt work without eye protection. If you loose one eye that is 50% of your vision gone. If you got in a car with someone and they said you only have 50% chance of arriving alive at the other end would you get in?

Awesome job on the video, I have a bent 9inch and you just saved my day !!!!!
I don’t think Ford ever produced a straight housing!
@@ahuggins6 hahaha the one I got is out of a mach 1 that was side swiped lol, its not bad but need to be fixed, thanks for the info!!!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
Whered you get the axle bar and pucks? Made locally?

@@ahuggins6 Thats the weird part, my last alignment seems fine. IRS started 2015 and up.

So all you used was heat? How do you know where to heat?
Heat the point that you want to shrink. When it cools it will always shrink to a smaller dimension than it started.

@@jaimereyes7480 I can tell you MAP won’t do it. And oxy/ace is not cheap to start up.
What size and style tip is on your torch?
@@jaimereyes7480 I honestly don't know. For heating anything quickly, though, a rosebud torch is best.
