reason 7392 to love julian casablancas : every time there is silence in this interview he just randomly blurts out the names of foods in danish as they reenter his memory
To be fair, most children first kiss or sexual experience is with a family member or someone close to the family like a friend who's parents are basically family, but not by blood. It's weird. But it happens a lot. It's very common. And I understand what he meant by "We see each other and never talk about it." It's not that he wants to do it again. It's just most of the time, stuff like that just gets swept under the rug and never talked about again. It's okay to talk about it. It lets people know that they aren't bad people. They were kids. They had a very shitty concept of right and wrong. And if all they did was make out, sure, it's weird. But it's not the worst case scenario. But people can harbor guilt or just weird feelings if it goes unspoken about.
i've never heard him talk so much. usually he's giving monosyllabic anwers to extremely eager interviewers. in this one he just gives out info even when he's not asked a question. awesome
it really saddens me how much people judge julian out of their prejudice on him because he comes from a fairly well off family or even because of the stuff that's been written about him on magazines since the strokes broke out. he seems like such a genuine and special guy, this interview is especially telling of that. i'm amazed that he was barely 22 at the time this was filmed and could disengage himself from all the annoying clichés of the rock genre like nobody's business. he's really something, i wish more people would really listen to what he has to say instead of only paying attention when some nobody publication paraphrases him.
That’s kinda how I feel about Marilyn Manson because if someone were to just see a picture of him or listen to his music a lot of people would judge him so much. But if you like watch interviews with him or hear him talking he just sounds so smart and really seems like a cool guy to be around.
I can't believe I haven't seen this before. Hilarious to see what he was like back then compared to now... a lot has changed but some of his attitude during interviews still hasn't changed. He seems so humble honestly.
I think Julian is pretty reserved, but he can recognize when the interviewer is trying his best. This one in particular seemed to have some troubles in making up the questions and Julian helped during the whole interview... nowadays most of the journalists try to distort most of his words just to create polemic so, I think, Julian is more aware and conscious of what he says.
this is one of his most interesting interview, notice that he got the hype when talking about family, something really genuine spark from the way he talk..
He's got one of the most acute ears in terms of composing catchy but also intricate and passionate music. The fact that he composed most of The Strokes' body of work singlehandedly boggles the mind.
it's interesting to see how the only interview where julian doesn't seem very uncomfortable and shy i've ever watched is the one where the interviewer is quite introverted
He seemed impressed by the way you came in "Tell us a story I know you're not boring" I was afraid that you would not insist "You sound so sleepy just take this, now leave me" i'm looking forward for their next album!!!!!!
I love how he's not into himself like everyone else is, he's seems like the kind of person, who you can have a causual conversation with, and hes polite.
He is such a tortured interview. He is so smart obviously. He always gives these fragmented/start stop/stream of consciousness answers. He cares so much about the legacy and music of The Strokes. This one isn’t bad, hes still uncomfortable. If you go through all the interviews they are intelligent-he just gets a bad rap. Love to see no matter what Strokes are still good/relevant and he’s bein recognized as a genius
It's so weird how the interviewer is like, "Tell us about this," instead of, like, asking questions. I mean, he's asking questions, too, but ... it's weird. I think he just wants to hear Julian's voice. Who doesn't?
he's not awkward he just isn't speaking his first language, he's not fluent in the language, trying to think of the words to keep the conversation fluid and filled with interesting questions. be cool
seeing this made me laugh so much people made fun of Alabama too then IDK reading these comments is making me nostalgic especially cause I was so little when your comment was posted IDK you will probably never see this and you are proabably old now (no offense) but yea lmao
@familyguychick I think the only recent interviews that he is this happy are the ones he did around the time of his solo tour...he was thrilled to talk about Phrazes for the Young...the BEST recent interview is with Brian Williams from 2010..(go watch it!) Jules is so smiley especially when he talks about Cal :)
I hear you, Jules. I, too, had me first snog with my cousin - also by the name of Camilla! - when we were little and feel bit weird about it every time I see her now because it's never been brought up... Hahahaha!
It's funny how this really shy interviewer managed to make Jules talk about everything. He even told a story. Epic.
Pine Tree Village hahah exactly
Its because he was drunk for pretty much the entirety of 2001

I wondered for many years what he was saying, thank you
WHY NOBODY TALKING ABOUT HIM BEING A COUSIN KISSER 😭😭😭
Huh?
I did that too when I was 8 years old. Me and Julian really do belong to each other🥺
Only thing I relate (wink) to him with. 😅

@@somakills1178 uh most kids first sexual experience is definitely NOT with a family member. 🤔 That's super weird

He talks way too little.
It's amazing how the interviewer was struggling and Julian kind of helped him through the interview.
it really saddens me how much people judge julian out of their prejudice on him because he comes from a fairly well off family or even because of the stuff that's been written about him on magazines since the strokes broke out. he seems like such a genuine and special guy, this interview is especially telling of that. i'm amazed that he was barely 22 at the time this was filmed and could disengage himself from all the annoying clichés of the rock genre like nobody's business. he's really something, i wish more people would really listen to what he has to say instead of only paying attention when some nobody publication paraphrases him.

@@madlnneh3672 dont compare someone as special like jules to a monster like MM thank you very much
for the people saying the interviewer is shit, he is clearly perfect for julian as this is the only interview where julian feels comfortable
MORGAN1992FREEM4N nah he’s just a lot younger here and he’s prob a bit buzzed so he feels a bit looser.
"Nah, I'm kidding" hahahahah I love it when he says that, it's 2015 and he still says it a lot
I've seen 2019 interviews and he still says it, it's his trademark hahaha
2024 he still says it haha
Tell us a story, I know you're not boring
Now I don't feel so weird for making out with a (half) cousin when I was younger lololol
I said please don't slow me down if i'm going too fast
@@soyyo2533 you're in a strange part of our town

idk this interview changed everything in my life tbh
I remember meeting Julian when he was 4 yrs old. I worked in his fathers modeling agency. Man his Dad loved him and talked about him alot. :-))
interviewer: tell us a funny story
julian: my dog is dying
HELP
Interviewer: You can just say something in danish
Julian: I remember I used to have a big crush on my danish cousin and we made out
😂😂😂
He's got one of the most acute ears in terms of composing catchy but also intricate and passionate music. The fact that he composed most of The Strokes' body of work singlehandedly boggles the mind.
This has got to be one of the best strokes interviews I've seen. We get such a great glance at Julian's life.
he is the only person who can say "like" a thousand times and not sound stupid or like a valley girl
The balls on Julian for admitting to making out with his cousin lmao.
Saying her name also... now all of the family knows who it is 😂
This actually ranks up there with one of my favorite Jules interviews. Very real and fun. Sad about his dog, and funny about kissing his cousin LOL
Julian is so carefree and talkative in this interview!! I'm glad I've watched it
"I'm fuckin' crazy, man!" is definitely the best part of the imterview. Without a doubt, one of the funniest things I've ever heard Jules say.
What a beautiful person, I ‘m so thankful I found The Strokes. Jules is a treasure at any age.
One of the best Jules interviews blessed
He's so gorgeous 😍😍 his beautiful hair and voice 😍 WHEN HE SMILES 💕❤💕❤💕❤ MY HEART COULD EXPLODE 💓
I dont know why i cant stop smiling while im watching this. :)
He seems so comfortable in this interview. I wish he would bring some of this Julian back.
"You seem like quite a normal people" 1:00 someone make this into a gif for me? BEST PART
i love when he chuckles at himself
This is how I want him to be in all his interviews...freaking adorable!
anyone else really wanna hear the horse story?
Someone should ask him about it in a interview today 😂

@@Iemonzinger LOL
It seams that he is a really nice and down to earth person. And it is obvious that he is glad to be there.
Considering how woefully incompetent the interviewer is, he manages to get an amazingly laid back and informative interview.
I love how he's not into himself like everyone else is,
he's seems like the kind of person,

I love hearing him laugh.
Jules is really charming.
I love his interviews.
I think this really shows how cool he is
Is it cuz the footage is blurry that makes him look even hotter than usual
CAN I BE HIS DANISH COUSIN OMFG
WOW I WAS GONNA COMMENT THE SAME EXACT THING
Lol
SAME
y’all are insane 😭
ayooo pause
I just can't...I love his laugh at the end!!! I love everything about this interview..

His laughter is so cute!
He's so sweet and nice I swear.
I want to hear the rest of that horse farm story...
I love his honesty.
Omg I can't imagine how his cousin must feel, like you kissed Julian Casablancas...but you can't tell anyone about it...
I'M FUCKING CRAZY, MAN
I love that cos it's Julian it isn't weird that he kissed his cousin it's just hilarious. But if it was anyone else I'd be like ERRR!! haha
imagine having your cousin as ur first kiss
It's so weird how the interviewer is like, "Tell us about this," instead of, like, asking questions. I mean, he's asking questions, too, but ... it's weird. I think he just wants to hear Julian's voice. Who doesn't?
I love this interview
This is my favourite interview with Julian -3 I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! -3 :3
Julian said ''I wish you're playing it didn't work'' at the last, OMG he's soooo sweet I'm crying!!
after hearing this i have a strong urge to hear Someday
Patxy .Cordova well did you? haha

I love how julian strikes up a deal with that interviewer at the end
I wonder if Camilla ever brought it up after this interview...

he can do whatever he wants to me I dont care
HELP MY JAW DROPPED WHEN HE TALKED ABOUT HIS COUSIN. JULES NO
me encanta como sonrie cuando esta hablando.
Es lindo ver a Jules abrirse en una entrevista antes de cansarse de las entrevistas con las mismas preguntas o de chismes de lo que nunca decía
"I'm fucking crazy man!"
Cutest fucking guy ever Aaaa julian
This interview is so funny haha
Tell us a story, i know you're not boring ;D

his voice ugh 😩
he's not awkward he just isn't speaking his first language, he's not fluent in the language, trying to think of the words to keep the conversation fluid and filled with interesting questions. be cool
I think everyone who saw this that has a Twitter needs to tell him to finish the horse story!!! Or put it on ze strokes forum
