22:00 "i never was a gang banger, i mean i never was strange to the fonk neither" can be taken literally as he isn't gang affiliated, but he has family and people he is close to who are so he knows about that life. Hence why it's the art of peer pressure and the theme for the album as he really is just a good kid caught up in this wild environment. He's done and seen things he normally wouldn't all while hanging with the homies and going along for the ride, but isn't in a gang and just caught in the middle.

When this album first blew up, the Swimming Pools single was a party drinking anthem, due to the almost mantra-esque hook chanting “drank”.

For a dude who clearly isn't well versed in hiphop, this was a surprisingly astute analysis and you did a good job of catching the "easter eggs" and references to classic West Coast hiphop and the evolution of its sound. As an "old head" I still think Kendrick Lamar might be the greatest solo rapper of all time when you look at his actual catalogue.

Aside from this being a snapshot of how youth is like in compton, this album is more symbolic for kendrick's career from the perspective it was his spiritual awakening and metamorphosis as an artist, starting the album as the young, violent/hooked to vices, immature K dot (which his hood friends called him and was his original alias when he was making mixtapes before he got signed), to becoming the very Kendrick Lamar we know today after finding God at the end of Sing about me, Im dying of thirst, and that is why on the last song, he says "This is Kendrick Lamar.
