What a brilliant and informative reaction! I just love to see someone experiencing Dirty Loops for the first time and have their mind blown. They started the group as a hobby project in 2008, and never thought it would be anything other than that, and did twisted jazz fusion covers of top 40 pop songs. In 2010 they put up a video on youtube (a cover of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance"), as a booking reference, to see if they could get a gig or two, just for fun, as they thought their music was way too unsexy for anyone to actually like it. Needless to say, they were completely wrong. The video went viral and a LOT of people absolutely loved it. Just about everything they've ever released is of this ridiculous musical quality, so you could pretty much pick any song to listen to, and you more than likely would not be disappointed. My personal favourite is one of their more jazz fusion-y pieces, "Work Shit Out", but if you want to listen to a song that is really showcasing Jonah's vocals, I'd suggest checking out "Breakdown".
They've all known each other and played together for 20+ years by now, in their mid-to-late-thirties. Jonah Nilsson(keyboard/vocals) and Henrik Linder (bass) even went to music elementary school together and met when Henrik was 11 and Jonah was 9. Aron Mellergård (drums) comes from another part of Sweden and came along when he moved to Stockholm at the age of 16, to attend the same music high school as they did (he was in the year between the other two). Then they all attended Kungliga Musikhögskolan (Royal College of Music) in Stockholm, where Henrik and Aron studied jazz/rock, and Jonah opted for music production as his main subject.
Believe it or not, but Jonah says the piano is his first instrument, not the singing. He comes from a family of classical musicians, and has sung in choirs (mostly chamber choirs) his whole life, but started studying the classical piano when he was 11 and then switched to jazz mid-highschool. When they started the band he had never sung lead and didn't even know if he could. These dudes are ridiculous! 🤯
Oh btw, that choir is just Jonah, and Henrik and Aron are just singing for show in the video. They are singing backing tracks on Rock You though, and in the beginning they both used to sing backing vocals when they played live, so they definitely can sing as well. Henrik (the bass player) said the following about writing Next To You, in an interview in Bass Magazine:
"That song took forever to write. Aron and I wrote the chorus in 2016. We found it in a drawer and tried a bunch of new verses with it until we got the right one. Then at the last minute, Aron wrote the gospel choir parts. He sent a very funny demo in which he marked where all the different gospel parts come in and what kind of voice they had. When Jonah recorded them, he had a chalkboard with all the different characters in the choir, and he distorted his voice to match each character and so none of them would sound like him. The groove has our typical, swung-funk, triplet feel, but the key is the Bootsy funk formula of having a heavy one to make all the subdivisions after it work. Aron wrote the chorus bass line, which is keyboard bass-like, and it worked best with a combination of fingers and slapping."
If you want to read the whole interview, which gives a wonderful insight into their process and the creation of the EP Phoenix, just search for "Henrik Linder Songified", and it should pop right up. ☺

Edited into the general comment section:
Hey Giocomo! Welcome to the world of Dirty Loops and their fans ☺️ there are so many good songs.
You will also find a bunch of interesting interviews with those guys on UA-cam.
Loved, loved your reaction and analysis of this song, one of my favourite Dirty Loops songs.
Yes they are all three Masters of their instruments.
As Lotta explained in her comment, on this track it is Jonah alone who sings all the vocals (amazing though that Aron, the drummer, came up with those vocals…)
They made the video after recording the song, and just fooled around a bit on camera ;)
You mentioned Queen and also Bohemian Rhapsody, and another commentator also often refers to this song as ‘Dirty Loops’ Bohemian Rhapsody’ :)
You’ve also mentioned Henrik and his slap and other bass influences.
He often refers to Flea from the Peppers as one of his biggest influences,- but there would have been many.
Jonah, the vocalist/keyboard player, once said that they were influenced by everything they’ve ever listened to when growing up, also classical music in his case.
I am very much looking forward to hearing more reactions and thoughts on Dirty Loops from you ☺️
    Thank you 🙏

You know, I’m from Germany, I speak French and English (a little bit Polish too), but I really appreciated your reaction. You felt instantly, that this 3 musicians are masters of music. Thanks for your reaction, it was a pleasure to watch it and to listen to your words (L'italiano è una lingua bella ed emozionante 😉). My advice: Breakdown from Dirty Loops

Ciao e abbracci ......

It could be fun to hear your reaction to some of their older songs like "Accidentally in love" og "Crash and burn delight". If you want to listen to some interesting danish artists I have a couple of suggestions for you.
Alex Vargas - f.ex. “Shackled up”, “Solid ground” or “Higher love”. Or the amazing cover of “Police bells & Church Sirens” from the danish tv-show “Toppen af Poppen”.
    Tina Dico/Dickow - f.ex. “Sacre Coeur”
Kwamie Liv - f.ex. “Look at What I’ve Done”
Annisette (from the band Savage Rose) - f.ex. “A girl I knew” (it would be really interesting to hear an analysis of both the 1968 version - and one as she sounds today (yes she’s still going strong)!
Lau Højen (from the band Car Park) f.ex. “Transparent & Glasslike”
Agnes Obel - f.ex. “Riverside” og “Just so”
    Dune “Dry lips”
Mads Langer “Monsters in my mind”, “Fact-fiction” or “Elephant”

    - Hit Me
    - Rock You
    - Follow the Light
    - Work Shit Out (un vero e proprio capolavoro musicale)
    - World on Fire

Jonah, the vocalist/keyboard player, once said that they were influenced by everything they’ve ever listened to, growing up, also classical music in his case.
I am very much looking forward to hearing more reactions and thoughts on Dirty Loops from you ☺️
      Thank you 🙏
