Only rich people can afford to pay for college without taking out loans. You either are rich or never went to college. The majority of people don't qualify for scholarships and those aren't enough to pay for college unless you are an athlete.
I almost did this but I refused to ask for the refund until it was tried and true that the forgiveness was applied. I didn’t trust it from the get go. It’s sounded too easy. I was like, once it’s official, then I’d ask for a refund but not before then because I knew I would have to pay it back if the debt relief didn’t pass. So happy I trusted my gut and didn’t do this
My husband got his loans forgiven, not in check form though. They just told him he didn’t need to pay and wiped it off his credit. That may have been a different program, but I am so grateful. Thank you, Biden.
Because the terms of the loan enumerate conditions for cancelation. Read 20 U.S.C. § 1098e(7) and any friend's student loan paperwork. The student loan program is a fiscal train wreck but hundreds of billions of dollars of forgiveness have been authorized by Congress and under the constitution no one can just ignore valid laws passed by Congress and signed by the president.
How come undergraduate students qualify for grants but not graduate students like myself? I was able to get my bachelor's debt free with grants without taking any loans, but now, to get my Master's, I only qualify for an unsubsidized loan?
Tax cuts for the rich at the state, local and federal levels. They basically dried up. Also for profits school just keeps increasing their tuition rates.
Americans have grown with A HUGE holdback when it comes to going to universities in Europe, where ELITE tuitions usually can go for 20000 euros or less. Therefore higher education can be very valuable, just not to the US’ extent. So going to college IS valuable, just not at a students’ expense.
NOTHING is free, especially when it comes to the government. And so, accountability. You mean to tell me all these "highly intelligent" students didn't know they have to pay off their loan beforehand? If you take out a loan, expect to pay it back.
Nothing for free. I knew this was coming same as increased interest rates from those “generous” credit cards. Hot Mess. Just like the lawsuit for borrower defense is suddenly on hold. So it’s suddenly a question about tuition being price gauged.
With all due respect can we hear some information in regards to the individuals who still have to apply for financial aid. Are there going to be any changes in regards to that? lol, gosh
This is a mess. But if you borrowed the money and paid it back why do you expect a refund? Might have to sue because of this fiasco. People should stop borrowing all together and just do payment plans with the school.
The issue is not the loan themselves. I believe people understand that by borrowing money they were going to pay it back however, the real issue is the interest rates. I think a fair compromise would be no interest and people simply pay back what they initially borrowed and the only people eligible for forgiveness should be those in public service
0:58 so he f-ed off the money? Insane. Nevertheless, I'm upset about the loan forgiveness for people who hose to go to janky non accredited schools. I still have all of my loans... no relief for me.
This is exactly why i dont want to get a loan for college periodt! My college is even offering insurance ( which i still feel is probably another money making racket ; it costs just as much if not more than my health insurance premium-if you can't pay school fees
Wait what he thought it was DEBT CANCELATION? lol make it make sense you pay off a loan you owe and now you want it forgiven after asking for part of it back 😂😂😂
I got a letter in October that says my loans were in forbearance and I didn’t have to pay interest. I got an email 4 days later that says my loans were in forbearance and interest would still accrue. Abolishing the Department of Education makes even more sense.
Nonsense
Please stop talking !!!
So you paid a loan off and then applied to get it back??
read the fine print.
If you pay off a loan
and then ask to take that same debt out again
all because someone promised to forgive the loan
and then you blow the loan on frivolous spending before confirming it is forgiven
you deserve it
Who are you to say what was “blown on frivolous spending”? Everyone loves to judge cause they’re so miserable with their own lives.
Specifically what this news story is about it clearly says what he spent the money on.
@@user-jv9cr9jn1t dude in video said he spent it on travel. Pretty sure thats who they were talking about
Don't ask for a loan. Problem solved. Be debt free instead of relying on the government to axe the debt.
College counselors and schools still encourage kids to take out loans, without even giving them any sort of financial literacy
Only rich people can afford to pay for college without taking out loans. You either are rich or never went to college. The majority of people don't qualify for scholarships and those aren't enough to pay for college unless you are an athlete.
What?! You pay into the system under tax codes.
Thats BS PPP loans were forgiven and most were taken under false pretenses.
Never trust free money from the Fed's. Lesson learned 😂😂😂
Even some natural disaster victims that received FEMA monies have to pay the government back!
This is crazy
You took out a loan, pay it. I don’t understand where this thought process came in that you wouldn’t have to pay back a loan that you chose to get.
I thought about getting a refund, but I now see I dodged a bullet. That is kind of unfair.
That is so messed up.
If it's too good to be true...... it really is too good to be true.
Whatever happened to scholarships and grants.
Thank you.
Americans have grown with A HUGE holdback when it comes to going to universities in Europe, where ELITE tuitions usually can go for 20000 euros or less. Therefore higher education can be very valuable, just not to the US’ extent. So going to college IS valuable, just not at a students’ expense.
This is dirty work……..😮
NOTHING is free, especially when it comes to the government. And so, accountability. You mean to tell me all these "highly intelligent" students didn't know they have to pay off their loan beforehand? If you take out a loan, expect to pay it back.
Wooow imagine if leadership was on the same page about this and the SC didn’t have to rule on this
Send back your refund! Zelinski needs that money
Who knew that government would ask for the money back
Just pay the money you owe you borrowed it.
Are there going to be any changes in regards to that? lol, gosh
The government is supposed to work for the people in unison not us working for them.
When’s the next revolution?
When you borrow, you have to pay them back
That's great, take the money back from them
I'm not paying them lol there's nothing to garnish either 😂
Sounds like an equity line of credit…😢
This is a mess. But if you borrowed the money and paid it back why do you expect a refund? Might have to sue because of this fiasco. People should stop borrowing all together and just do payment plans with the school.
Many can't pay $6,000 in tuition through a payment plan with the school without the school charging a late payment fee.
I’m a nurse and I never trusted any promises. So much for hero. Ha!!
Nothing in this world is free.
Everything has a cost.😊
You took out the loan!! Pay off your own debt!
The issue is not the loan themselves. I believe people understand that by borrowing money they were going to pay it back however, the real issue is the interest rates. I think a fair compromise would be no interest and people simply pay back what they initially borrowed and the only people eligible for forgiveness should be those in public service
I hate accountability
first thing they need to know is they alone are responsible for paying the loan back not the every tax payer in the U.S.
Hahaha; Ain't such thing as free money
Grants
Wow. Rarely is ignorance bliss. I paid on my student loans during COVID.
Good for you. Do you think you deserve some reward for doing what you are supposed to?
Thats why i stayed in forbearance for my loans during COVID
0:58 so he f-ed off the money? Insane. Nevertheless, I'm upset about the loan forgiveness for people who hose to go to janky non accredited schools. I still have all of my loans... no relief for me.
This is exactly why i dont want to get a loan for college periodt! My college is even offering insurance ( which i still feel is probably another money making racket ; it costs just as much if not more than my health insurance premium-if you can't pay school fees
Wait what he thought it was DEBT CANCELATION? lol make it make sense you pay off a loan you owe and now you want it forgiven after asking for part of it back 😂😂😂
A wise man once said "there are no free lunches"
Need to really start taking voting seriously and understand who we’re asking to bring in at every level.
No forgiveness. Pay your loans back!!!
I got a letter in October that says my loans were in forbearance and I didn’t have to pay interest. I got an email 4 days later that says my loans were in forbearance and interest would still accrue. So I went to check on the status of my account, AND MY LOAN APPLICATION WAS STILL PENDING FROM JULY. People need to get in a room and hash this out
