I was tired of seeing videos of the new Ford Raptor that didn't even get the tires dirty so I figured I would do my version of a review on the truck.
Huge thanks to Keaton and Sol at Ascending Works for chasing me around with their camera RZR for the action shots in this video.

I'm guessing this isn't the first FORD commercial that Trent has filmed... :)
The quality of the production and professionalism of Trent far exceeds the best that Ford has to offer! But if it's good enough for a adventurous bush pilot, it's good enough for me!!! Well done and do more reviews...
As an off-road fabricator and plane nerd I appreciate cross overs like this on your channel! Honest opinions and cinematic videography what’s not to like 😅 so rad seeing how well the link set up does! Game changer for factory off road performance 🙌🏻
Thanks Alex!!
Awesome video impression of the gen 3 Raptor! I have the exact same truck as you, but in black. Coming from a gen 2, the gen 3 is quite an improvement for off-roading. Like you, when I got my gen 2, I expected a rougher ride, but it's so much smoother than any other f-150.
Happy New Year Trent! Thanks to you, I now have the dream of flying. It's been in my family.. but had never occurred to me too much..
you're fly in camping and fishing has really got me excited and I look forward to flying with you and other cool people in the near future.
As far as the Raptor I've been loving them too for awhile.. I just was watching a video about a Raptir, and I walked away, and came back and your video was on! I was all excited, I haven't seen any of your videos in awhile. Life's been good and busy. But this was a real treat, so glad you did this video, thank you.
happy Holidays,
happy New Year.
Keep up the great work
"I've had nothing but problems all year with my Ford time to get rid of it" *buys another Ford with more expensive shit to break* Sweet truck though
What kind of problems? Is it a f150? Raptor? Yep. Any thing new you have to repair is expensive. Had a 2003 Ford ranger 243 thousand mile. Sold it to a friend. Still going strong. Never broke down. Bought 2018 f150. So far so good. Crossed 🤞
he did not specify where the problems in he truck were. It may have been that his use case was too hard for the normal F150, and the better shocks on the Raptor may help if that is the case.
I have a 2003 F150 XL Short bed with the 4.2L V6 and 5spd manual. 135k Zero problem miles.
@@cheif10thumbs I just sold a Tahoe.. 312,000 miles. the transmission just went out. Contact me with an update when you get some miles on your f150
Lol ford
Good Choice! I have a 2020 Gen 2 Raptor. Love the engine and trans even being a V8 guy. I keep mine in Sport mode on pavement and still get 13 MPG.
Had a GEN 2 for the last 4 years. Got my new TRX in august. Couldn’t help but purchase that V-8 muscle and get away from that little Honda sounding Raptor.
But you will enjoy that raptor it’s a great machine the only really problems I ever had out of mine were fit and finish. Doors squeaking and rattling glove boxes that don’t stay shut. And it seem like every all change we were getting the front end realigned.
With that being said I’m sure this TRX will have a lot of little quirks wrong with it too. I’ve already got about 6000 miles on it after two long trips.
I can tell you the visibility is a whole lot better out of the raptor than the TRX. But that V8 super hemi makes up for it 😎.
You're absolutely correct that your audience would enjoy this, great video and keep them coming!
Gosh man that’s just awesome! It’s almost like you read my mind and decided to live all my dreams! Which is OK because I’m not leaving them so I’m glad somebody else’s lease doing it! You’re awesome man and you’ve earned everything you have!!
Thanks man! And if you are thinking about a raptor I am not the person to talk you out of it 😜
@@TrentonPalmer i’ve been taking about a raptor since the first time they announced it just like you have. Lol but I am not quite a year into my business and not yet in the position to purchase something like that. But someday! It will happen!
honestly, I think that you're probably the right kind of person to have a raptor. You're actually going to use it for what it's meant to be used for and that's awesome!
Have Fun
Drive Safe
Fly Safe
:)
Probably one of the best videos out there on the Gen 3! Did you just “throw in” the 37s or was there any additional mods that were needed for fitment?
My nephew is the only one I know that actually off roads a raptor, because most people just drive my around the city with them. It’s always nice to see something being used for what it’s made for. 👍
my bro-in-law off-roads his
I drove the crap outta my 2010 Raptor off the pavement. Not just high speed, I did rock crawling, desert running, slow trail runs, anything I could find actually. Of course mine got 12mpg HWY and 8mpg OFF ROAD. $100 every 4 days for fuel ! ! That got old fast but it sure was fun!!!
Wow congratulations on the new Raptor. It looks and runs great!
The 37’s look awesome on the truck! Ford purposely made the 37” spare tire nook in the frame different than the 35” to discourage upsizing.
I work at the factory these are built hopefully all is still well and your still happy with the truck I too own a Gen3 I have already put 26K on the odometer all trouble free great miles
Yes Trent, I'm with you. My dream truck is the raptor as well but for now I have to stick with my F150 XLT.....
same here with an stx haha
I've always loved the look of the Raptor. I didn't know about all the details. Thank you.
I’ve watched this videos 3 maybe 4 times already. I know your content isn’t Raptor related, but man I wish it was. Absolutely epic video.
I just got my 2021 Lariat a couple weeks ago. I've never been a Ford guy, but I like the 2021 F-150s. Congrats on the Raptor.
The exact truck down to the color I have on order. Your videos and narration are a cut above the rest. Awesome.
Very well Done. I think the video is spot on to what i wanted to see. I am not a Ford fan except a few classics. I was very hesitant but I bought a Raptor and it reminds me of the Bush version of the GT-50. Absolutely amazing for a pick up in the sand and with some weight in back really good in snow! My Jeep hates it because it is so fun off-road. Ok back to Airplanes
Sweet ride Trent! With the grill and black on tailgate its like the younger faster brother to my F250. Ask Kevin, he's ridden in it. And he broke my mirror light! 😂
I just bought the exact same truck, even the same color. I’m a lot older than you and I’ve always wanted a raptor, some old men buy corvettes, I bought a raptor! I’ve only had it a week but I love it! Can’t wait to get it dirty!! Oh and I’ve already out 37’s on it, glad to hear you did the same, I was kinda wondering if I did something I shouldn’t have. Great video, it’s like a video of my truck!!
All the other folks putting out content on vehicle world gave alot to learn from you. Content and cinematography are miles ahead of everyone.
Great video ! I own and drive a 2016 Ford F150 and I honestly love the Raptors performance and it's capabilities .
Amazing Video And Thumbnail Trent!!!!
Always figuring a way to fly. Good job.👍
wait til you pull a pull a large rv or cargo trailer, MPG will tank big time (5-7mpg) and the transmission is always upshifting and downshifting constantly with the trailer behind it, and it gets pretty annoying when it does that
You live the life i desperately want to live haha. '21 Raptor, drones for a living, flying for fun, runway on your beautiful house... ugh lol amazing
Congrats on 400k!
Hell yeah!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!
Ok wow. Seeing what you do in my backyard of Nevada I couldn't wait to see you do a vehicle review. Savagegeese is my favorite for those videos and seeing your production was awesome.
Ive been waiting for this review
Been waiting for you to finally get a raptor!!!
The US version of the Raptor is a step up from the version available in Australia. The Oz Raptor version is a 4 cylinder diesel with a 10 speed box. Best model in Oz is the 3.2 diesel, straight 5, 6 speed Wildtrak. We thought that Oz would get the V6 but we're getting the 2.0 litre, straight four with a twin scroll turbo and 10 speed - nuts for off road!
Glad I got my 3.2 Wildtrak, assembled in Thailand, only took three months for my colour choice.
Thanks for the VLOG Trent.
yes and yours is based on the ranger, not the f150. But with the new gen ranger I think you guys might be getting something beefier in the raptor department as well... that 3.0 powerstroke would be sweet in a ranger
Well now you have to wrap it to match the freedom fox!!
LOVE This video Trent! SO Sick
Yep. Sick is right. Anyone who buys a Ford is sick for sure
Ford makes the best truck, you just have to work on them a lot. I’ll stand by that statement to the grave! 🤪
You are a really good speaker. And congrats on the new truck.
Wonderful review, honestly so much better than the generic reviews that lack personality and anecdotal information. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Trent
Did you have to install perch collars to get 37" Tires to work?
Great stuff Trent!! agree on the blue interior on the 37 pkg, not really my thing. Beautiful truck, are you happy with the sunroof, would you get with sunroof again?
Good info on the 35 upsizing. I think 37s are overrated for this truck, but I was hoping the 35 - > 37 jump would be pretty easy on the Gen 3 given it was a factory option. Why they paired it with a pretty crappy forced interior upgrade is beyond me.
Shocked the 37s fit with no mods! Truck is a beaut!
Are you planning on outfitting the raptor with your charging system for work? If so, will you have to put a topper on it or will the bedcover be sufficient?
Yes, but they don’t make a topper for this truck yet. So what I did was mounted all my charging gear to the bedside using the racks from BuiltRight Industries. This truck does have the pro power on board so it can handle all the charging without us lugging around a generator! So far it’s working with just the bed cover but time will tell if I feel like I need a shell
you came into my discount tire in this. FIrst one i've seen. Wanted to talk to you but I was dealing with some shitty windshield wipers when you picked it up😂 Awesome truck
Anyone else get pumped when there was an intro before the intro!
Hell yeah thank you for the review
Awesome review and visuals. Thanks
great video of that pretty damn truck !!
the Raptor
Nice! And looks like you know how to drive it! 👍 needs a few freedom fox stickers on it 😁
Great truck!! All trucks, worth anything need to be off road ready!!
As always you make it look fun!
I need more Raptor. I really like how you discussed the v-6 vs the Raptor R and gas mileage. Can you speak to this more? Why you chose the eco boost and how happy you are with your choice, etc.? Great honest video
At least you only had to wait 4 months! We are going on a year and a half for our bronco 🤣 We have a first gen raptor and we love it. Loved the review.
At 00:23 is that 100mph on the right dial and 5.3 mpg on the left ? On dirt track?
OK, I wussed out at 85 mph once on a gravel track through a Swedish forest, but that had trees to hit.
aren't the axle ratios tuned to the diameter of '35s?....shift points?.....and ECM ?
Well you got a new subsciber great review and quality!! Getting ready to order my 2022 Raptor not the "R" either. Thx Trent!
Great video!
Thanks for doing this video. I've wondered if the Raptor was all that I've heard it was.
Brand new raptor and a brand new overlanding trailer? You’d think 150K would go a long ways towards putting up your new hanger…..
We all appreciate it that you are not in charge here.
@@911Hammer including all the likes hmmm🤔 And we all appreciate if your opinion never surfaces again.
Nice , your own private airline. Come on man who wouldn't want a raptor Trent! Congratulations I've driven one only on road because it wasn't mine ,however, if I had the means I'd have one.
What do you think of the Rivian R1T?
@TrentPalmer Sweet vid! New to your CH and I to fly. I just got my raptor same as yours yesterday and see you have 30k+ miles now, what is your average mpg with 37’s and did you level kit? My dealer sad if I go 37’ on 35 truck I will void some warranty’s ... thanks and good on you and yours!
Time for a Trent Palmer Bronco review, or wait for the Raptor Bronco😎
Nice video. Impressive handling.
Awesome truck
Nice video... If I was in the market for a truck, this one would be a competitor!
Love car and truck content!
My dream truck🔥
Yesssss!!! Trent bought a raptor.
If it comes as a Diesel version I might get one but I will keep driving my 1999 F250 7.3 Diesel with 678000 miles on it. Awesome truck though. Thanks for sharing.
Holy moly! At this point you can’t stop driving that truck, need to set a high mark for longest living truck!!
That 7.3 is another great engine.
Nice 'real world' review Trent! You've got yourself a bit of a wolf-in-sheeps-clothing there! Cheers from Aus.
I think I would have opted for the twin turbo diesel but maybe that's not an option in the US? Dunno.
Excellent action footage! Ford needs to hire Copter Kidz for their next campaign!
Do you miss the massaging seats from your limited f150? What other features do you miss on the raptor?
Sorta although the massage seats weren’t all that great honestly, the ones in my wife’s Genesis are much more well done. I think that’s the only feature it’s missing aside from the retractable running boards. It’s now been a year and 30,000 miles on the raptor and I still love it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ford send Trent, the new Lightening to feature in his video 👏😁
I appreciate your critique of the vehicle and i'm happy that you're happy with the truck.
That said, I'm not as happy that Ford and the other manufacturers are spending the bulk of their engineering and development budgets on these "boutique" models that people with disposable incomes can afford.
I need an affordable truck that can tow an 8,000 lb. trailer up a 45% slope on gravel, operate in 20" of snow and be able to operate on logging roads without damage.
Until then, I'll be holding on to my current whip......................
Congrats on the new toy, mate!
Holy crap Where was all that snow…?
Great video as usual sir.
I had good luck with a Ford and a Ram I know Ford is out there on the cutting edge and going after the green energy electric too 👍
Great Review 👏 👌 👍
2nd gen Raptor owner here, LOVE mine. People are like it doesnt have a v8 blah blah. The engine is the same engine in the Ford GT that won LeMans. The ecoboost makes more power then the 6.2 L it replaced, and its wicked fast for a stock truck.
Didn’t know you would be doing a Ford commercial.😄 Seriously, enjoy the beast.
This one of them new kit fox models?
Why not a Rivian T1 ??? Or a Ford EVT truck ???
Nice truck!
Dude, you should do all truck commercials!!!! I want one!
I've been patiently waiting for mine since June 😅
Trent, the video plays like a Ford commercial.
The Raptor info screen is nice being mounted landscape verses portrait in the Trex.
The Eco-Boost you like takes too long to spool up while the supercharger in the Trex makes instant horse power.
Interior wise, the materials Ford used are lacking compared to the Trex.
From the videos I’ve seen, the Raptor is slightly more nimble than the Trex, if you can call a 6,000 pound truck nimble.
Between the two, I’d take the Trex. Fresher styling and that 700 horse power V8 engine.
Unfortunately neither truck fits what I need a truck for. Now if Ford or RAM came out with a 3/4-1 ton version, I’d give it a look.
Report back when the squeaks and rattles begin. They will.
My neighbor daily’s a Gen 2 Raptor and recently test drove a Trex for a few days. I had the chance to look at it closely. The Trex looks the part but our take away was it was still a Chrysler in the end. It felt old, which the design is overall. I’m sure it’s capable off road, so is the Raptor. In the end I honestly think the trucks come down to personal preference which is how it should be. Oh and my neighbor kept his Raptor!
@@bryancohn9406 The interior design and materials used in the Ram is overrated and exaggerated to be better than any other company by the fans, the Ford interior is honestly cleaner, practical and functional, there isn't as much styling but it's durable and just as high quality if not some places it's better or worse.
I love my ecoboost, regardless of the issues I've had to correct, but that Tremor is screaming my name, haha.
Both hands brother! 👍😎
Dream truck!!
You sure this is not a commercial? Sure has the quality haha
Yes, I'm so tired of ppl reviewing this truck on the street and going through the exhaust modes. Thank you for reviewing it from an offroading perspective. I can't decide between this and the TRX. Have you driven the TRX? If so, I'm assuming you still recommend the Raptor?
Honestly, I think if you want a more sporty truck suited to offroading, jumps, and maneuverability go with the Raptor. But if you want a hunking V8 with overwhelming speed that roars and is guaranteed a smile every time you smash the gas go with the TRX.
What level kit did you use?
Love to see a gen 3
Interesting hearing about the mileage you get with that. I currently drive an F150 Lariat V8 with an aftermarket Raptor lift on it (through Ford) plus 35" off-road tires, and I only get 12-13 mpg city/highway combined. Those huge, tready tires coupled with that lift really rob you of some fuel economy. Worth it for the off-road action though.
Yeah, the ecoboost does do pretty well economy wise vs the triton V8. Both are great engines though
The intro is essentially. A commercial for Ford
Why didn't you wait for the electric version?
