I've been playing the NHL series yearly since NHL 12, but my roots can be dated back to NHL 94, NHL 2000, and the NHL Hitz series.

Woah rookie is too steep of a drop! Keep trying superstar! The more you play it, the more you get used to it and figure out the CPU. You'll get better at the game from challenging encounters, not Rookie level ones :)
@@Brianstormed Yeah, its really no point to play easy. Today got easy opponents which wasn't full of Gretzky, mcdavid and so on. Easy four wins for once :)

Are you pressing the left stick in to hustle? Thats the only way those 70 ovrs are skating faster than you. I think even when you are low on stamina you should still be able to outskate them imo

MrJasen22 is it a connection issue perhaps? I dont know what to tell you because i dont have any issues outskating players with lower OVR. Maybe you arent skating in a straight line or you are pressing another button (like defensive skill stick)
@@Brianstormed The A.I strategy is different from game to game.- Some game they are passive, other games they are full forechecking HARD!

78 rated ai on pro plays harder than the ai in this game
Just bought the game a few days ago and the AI is nothing like that. The AI has a double team on me at all times, steals the puck off me no matter the position, they vacuum me into the boards. It’s absolute bs.

yeah it's a bit ridiculous. It wasn't like that a few years ago. I remember complaining about it heavily in NHL 17 or 18.

Great video, thankyou for the advice. I think I need to be taking more slapshots as I take heaps of wristers and need to practice protecting the puck, passing and def skill stick. Will see what today brings. One thing I will ask is what are your strategies? and what to do if the AI is really aggressive?

what settings do you change for 3rd period when they up their forecheck and overall pressure? similar question for online matches like that.
This video is so outdated now. With all the tuners EA has released, none of this AI play this way anymore.
i feel like it is impossible to beat a superstar team with a player over 80, i recently played a game where i outshot my opponent 29-7 and lost 4-3
I've been playing pro and semi pro. I only play the computer if they're 80 overall or less. I tried an 82 overall on pro and my team is a 90 and I lost 4-1. It still boggles my mind. Plus the passing in the game can be total ass at times, I bet other people have had problems with passing in the game not just me. I'm gonna keep trying pro though and hopefully I can start playing teams closer to my overall

I mean, I've been still putting up 5 goals a game against every superstar team I play against, so yes I can. They can't be aggressive when I break out so fast.

Not a problem, I'd like to show some more aggressive teams but these teams don't feel very aggressive, and if they are, it's probably just because of my playstyle which makes them seem like they aren't. I'll be posting my strategies maybe tomorrow. It's collapsing defense and behind the net offense, but I'll go in more details then.

Any Updates on how to beat the AI on superstar since the update?
was very interesting watching this as it doesn't look a lot different to what I do. But I'm clearly not as effective. How do you avoid taking bulk tripping penalties when using the defensive skill stick?
Let go of the right stick when you are about to trip someone, or only use it ahead of the player with the puck.
What strategies do you begin a game with? I feel like my guys are out of position on breaks causing limited scoring opps. I'm usually 75% on all star with scores of 3-2 or 4-3
Check out my video called the guide to smarter ais. Those are the strategies i start with and adjust as time goes on. Id probably tack on leave zone early too

I'll probably post my strategies tomorrow since everyone is asking about it. They are not different from online human gameplay, unless I change them in my online games to adapt to the opponent.
@@Brianstormed You are the man! Thank you! I switched to superstar and I find it challenging. Just lost 4 games in a row by 1 point. I guess it can only make me better right. I'm not near the level as top tier players like you. Only started playing last year but I love the game. So much better then fifa or madden

Yup you arent the only one. Xbox has the same issue. Ea is aware of it and im sure they will be fixing it for everyone probably on tuesday because of the holidays

Would you recommend atleast have a team of 80s for superstar? I've been using just pretty much my starter team and have been struggling hard because my players are trash
Definitely the better your team the easier it will be. You should be able to build a team of 80-82s who go for about 1k easily and that should keep you somewhat competitive against the superstar teams

I have a 89 overall team and it's still not easy sometimes I have a good lead(3-4 goals) and the AI just glitch 3 goals back to back really annoying. I really hate that even more in the 3rd period
If you get to that point and you think you are going to give up the lead it may just be better to stall and hold the lead instead of going for more points. I think the win is the most important, anything after that is just a bonus.
@@Brianstormed defending is the hardest part for me, their one timer are weirdly fast and when I'm trying to prevent a pass, they snipe it into the net
Man, every game for me on superstar is a coin toss for me. If I win I'm scraping by with 1 goal games. I should start using loan cards on the tougher games. I never use them but squad battles actually gives us a reason to now. Superstar can be ruthless especially when they get cycling. When the AI is aggressive it gets rough, turn that puck over in your own end under pressure and it's going in the back of your net.
I had no problems with the AI last year but they're pretty rough this year for me. My team isn't great though. I've got two 84s which are the highest rated players on my team
The loan cards tip, definitely a huge help. As I said in the video, you can't let them get to the point of cycling because you stop them in the neutral zone. I do agree, if you turn the puck over in your zone it's bad news for you.
How do you use the skill stick effectively without tripping them
try to go for the area they are skating towards, and never poke check if you are behind them
I play on Superstar difficulty, 6/6 AI difficulty in setting and 6/6 in tempo and I still win😅 there should be one more setting called Legend that is twice as hard and more high paced lol
Do you think playing at the default camera angle puts me at a disadvantage?I feel like you can definitely see the ice better on your angle but I like the default one for some reason.
Yes it does. It moves around too much and doesnt allow you to see everything like your defenders coming into the zone on offense or forwards set up in the nz for the breakout pass

Im guessing this is the same as playing CPU? As in franchise mode. If so...how do you defend, when has the puck in your zone, and everytime you move a guy to go after it, just pass to an open man? They just keep passing until they get a defender out of place, then skate into the slot and hit a wide open one timer. They will just sit in your zone and cycle forever, with nothing you can do because the cpu knows what your contoller inputs are, and just passes around you. How do you defend this??
Yes, CPU in Franchise Mode would work the same way. When it comes to defending when he is in your zone, you have to just take away the passing lanes and keep them to the outside. Once they are there, they are going to take bad shots at the net. If they go in, It's not really on you. If they don't take a shot and you surround them, they'll make a bad pass and you'll be able to go the other way.
@@Brianstormed been trying this all night. They just skate away from me cause they know my controller inputs. If I try to drag a man over to "Surround them" they just hit the now open man and the puck always go in. I have yet to have a game where they dont score ATLEAST 5 goals doing this. If I chase them with just one guy, they just run around and keep passing until they pull someone out of place. Help!
Dude... This Ai literally stick lifted from MY back! Usually that's 100% call and when I watched replay it literally went trough my player's hands!

It’s no fun hammering the opponent every time
Keep in mind that it's against the team in Squad Battles. I can't control the settings for that (otherwise everybody would make it really easy and get the max points for all of the rewards).
I know that the AI looks like they played terrible, but I am the one that was making them look terrible because of where my players were giving them not a whole lot of time to make a decision. Sadly its the same thing online. People I play against say they played terribly. It's weird because its multiple people in a row. They all just happen to play terrible in a row. lol.
Squad battles literally gives me headaches lol I still win my games by 3-5 goals but the AI literally just cheats every 2 seconds. they take 5 shots on me and score twice and I gota take like 50 fucking shots just to score like 5 or 6. Most of them being good chances and a shit ton of powerplays. its very easy to get the AI to trip you lol. the game literally nerfs your shots. Its cheap asf. the shooting and goaltending shouldn't be so cheap. Plus their hitting I beleive is boosted also. EA is to lazy to develop a smarter AI so instead they jus mess with the sliders lol.
1.8s has been the exact amount of time it takes to score like that off the faceoff since nhl14 at least, fun fact, if you have less time than that the only option may be to try to shoot off the draw

Sunic play safe in D , check out for the one t and in offense take your time , cycle around the net until you find a good shot
why did u need 5 goals that game is that how to get max points?
I wonder where you get these extra points in SB, if you look at the top 100, not only they have to play without losing any points, but it seems that they get extra points that are not displayed at the end of the game or in the game menu before you start it.
Before 5pm today the max point I could have was 50 368 if you add up all the games plus the featured game.
I looked at the guy at #1 and he had 50374 or something like that. How is that possible?
So does that mean that people don't all face the same opponents each rounds? Do you get tougher opponents if your OVR is higher?
I mean last week, I lost about 200 points total for the week. And I was still 200 points away from the rank 99-100 who were couple hundred away from rank 1-10. I was like wtf? I am missing extra points but where?
Some said no penalties? ok but where do you see it? Some games I took some and some I didn't'. And my actual total is exactly the amount I am supposed to get, I received no bonus from not taking penalties in the total that I am seeing vs the max amount I can get.
So far if I win by 5 goals and have 20 shots, I get the max points. But then I miss a lot of points from the top 100 people, they have to play different teams which gives more points... I really don't get it.
You are welcome to take as many penalties as you want. Unfortunately the reason for the gap and extra points IS because everyone has different opponents. The person with the highest OVR opponents will be the one that gets the most points

But it sucks because if you don't get high level opponents, in theory you could win all your games by 5 goals and 20 shots and still don't make it to the top 100.
Now the question would be, if your OVR is higher, do you automatically get higher levels opponents? Did you ever tested that?
Yes I have. It is unaffected. It is entirely on the opponent's OVR. Unfortunately that means even if you play perfect games, it's out of your control.

You make it look so easy. I don't understand, you're an Elite player but I believe people who aren't are just gonna get frustrated. It's not as easy as it looks is all I'm saying.
I see what you are saying, and I understand it. I'm hoping that by not only showing my gameplay but breaking down my thoughts and my plays could help people at least a little bit in trying to employ some of these moves in their game. I also leave the video wide open for questions if anybody has anything in particular that they would like more information on.
@@Brianstormed I love your videos! And I find them very helpful, but I feel like maybe this one you could of just broken it down a little bit more. IMO, I felt it was more of a gameplay and you explained what you did. Because you're better then most people in this game! I just felt it could be more broken down and more in depth on what to exactly do!
Well, what to exactly do is tough because every situation is different. I tried to show and explain every situation that I was in so that if you get into a situation like that you can not only figure out what to do from my situation but also go through with it.
@@Brianstormed Yeah that makes sense, never really looked at it like that. I guess my main point was, that basically its just not as easy as it looks! EA really improved A.I this year. Maybe make an in-depth video on how to play offense and play defense in the game? Unless you did already?

Brianstormed damn I watched Ghost instead before my last game and I now really want to sign up for a pottery class.
For me it the AI or goalie is the issue, even with everything on full pressure or attack they just don't follow and on defense 3 guys can chase the puck carrier leaving at least one wide open for a one timer or my goalie lets in any shoot from anywhere
Thats pretty much why you don't want full pressure on, it leads to a lot of wide open players for the opponent. Check out my recent strategies video if you want your players standing their ground and covering their man!

Really doesn't look like superstar level Ai game play. The Ai looks more like semi pro or rookie level. Not even pressuring you at all and the goalie looks lazy! Lol
I think I just make it look like that, I played more games this week and the AI felt the same.
@@Brianstormed it's crazy I played the Ai on pro allstar and superstar and sometimes they seem harder on pro or just the same. But I've played them where it was ridiculously difficult and the Ai seemed to make BS goals and I've beat them on all levels and have been beaten as well. Im fairly new to NHL franchise games and took along few years break from gaming. I played 14 last year a few times as my brother brought it over and then I went and bought an xbox one and NHL 19. I didn't know about all the trading cards and rewards and monthly collectible stuff until this past spring. Now im going hard in 20 and always improving. Love the game but couldn't stand all the glitches of NHL 19 especially in online mode where it seemed people were cheating online occasionally. Anyway, I'm hoping for 20 to be much better. So far it doesn't seem as bad although I've only played one online seasons game so far. GREAT VIDEOS BRO! They're very informative!
I have played enough nhl20 to tell that the game that you're playing in this video definitely isn't nhl20. In nhl20 AI does not play anything like that, it's full forecheck and doesn't matter if AI player is all by himself like you said because even players like Chara can just take a wrist shot from blue line and score, not even mentioning players that actually knows how to shoot. Passing is a big joke as I have checked enough times from video replays that my left analog stick has been pointed right towards the player in front of me yet pass ending up being off the board pass to the other end of the ice and icing is the call. Overall of your players also doesn't matter because from the things seen on ice it's obvious that they get halved, I can't remember a single time that Kurri would've not miss a wide open net because 2 meter distance from the net is just too much. Heck, I could bring hockey sticks to kindergarten and get a better playing team. And this is just a tip of the iceberg.
Ps. Superstar still easier than all-star difficulty so there's another wtf moment for you
This game is completely broken on All star difficulty or higher. In this chel you have such a low chance to win on all star even if you are playing with the best team in the game (pacific all stars). Passing becomes impossible, goalie makes all the saves while yours lets almost any shot in and seems to play goalie like he is in middle school, you get the point. I legit have tried everything I can to win and as soon as I tie the game up, the AI will proceed to get even more difficult and dump 4 goals within 30 seconds in the most bullshit ways. If I play on pro then I blow the AI out 10 goals no problem, there is no happy medium in this game. EA fix your games!!!!

Yes it is. I show how much points I get from the game, equivalent to that of playing on superstar. Each team has different strategies set up so they play different.

To be fair, I am a top player in the game (i just beat the #2 player in HUT Champs in my other video). So while Im not a god, I can still make players and even the computer look silly. The slow as shit part might be because It was the first week or two of the game so both sides had low OVR cards and it could explain some of the other issues you are saying. While my editing skills have been increasingly better the past few years, I wouldnt mislead people and damage the integrity of my channel by faking such a thing. However, you are free to believe what you want and I cant stop you there
