    Thank you. I just bought one today and this video is very helpful. I can't wait to try it tomorrow.

    I've had one of these for several years. It does a good job and is remarkably light weight and powerful for a little saw. Now that I'm in my 70's, the old 20 inch Stihl is more than I can safely handle. I use this for tree trimming and general work around the farm. It is too small for cutting cords of wood for sale. Great saw for yard work and light to medium farm maintenance.

    Great video Kevin. I do have 2 echo chainsaws. 1 Small residential and my comercial one is the CS- 590 super heavy but cut trees like butter I may have to star using Husqvarna oil. Thanks for all of those tips.

    Chain brake should always be ON when starting.

    UA-cam should have a professional's only area.

    Nice video! I think this helped me decided which saw to get. I just have a one acre lot, all I should need! What’s the largest diameter tree do you think you could cut with this saw with 14” bar?

    What kind of oil do you part on the top of the bar prior to use?

    Good video, but do yourself a favor and set the chain brake when starting, especially free pulling like you are.

    When should you change spark plug and air filter?

    • @karlrovey
      @karlrovey 4 роки тому +2

      Look at the owner's manual. Check them every three months, clean the air filter if it's moderately soiled. Replace it if it's showing damage or they're heavily soiled. Check/clean the spark plug every three months. No point in replacing a part that's still in good condition.

    Have you had any problems with it leaking oil when its stored? I inherited one and it always starts and runs great. I just have a puddle of oil after it sits. I was warned ahead of time that it has always done it.

      Rich E all brands do it.

    • @78thegamer
      @78thegamer 5 років тому

      @Rich E...Try replacing your oil tank cap, it might have a hairline crack in it. Or take the side cover off (were you tighten the chain) and clean the area were the bar oil port is. Hope that helps.

      Run the saw dry before putting it away or dump the oil and fuel back in their containers. I have 9 or 10 saws and can't think of any of them that don't leak bar oil if I put them up with oil left in them and some of these saws are pro saws that cost 5x what these little homeowner Echos so if those $500-1100 saws I own leak oil don't see why one of these wouldn't as well. If I put up a saw and don't plan on using it for a while I always make sure they are empty, if I am going to be using them again soon I might not empty them out but I also don't leave them where it matters if they leak a little oil either. And only use non ethanol gas.

    I’m somewhat new to saw and this channel but was it just sound distortion from recording or did that saw not sound too good?

      Texas Veteran Power Outdoors I’m looking into getting this saw. Did it just need to be worn in a little or was something wrong with it?

      @@TexasVeteranLawnService The 240 is still an entry level homeowner grade saw.

      You are better off really finding a good used pro saw most the time. You can get a good used pro saw for what you will pay for a lot of the homeowner saws new and get a lot better chainsaw. The Facebook Marketplace always has a bunch of saws for sale besides auctions and wherever else you might find them. I have bought 6 saws alone in the past couple months. The Makita DCS6421 is one I just recently bought. I paid $250 for it. They retail for $650-750 new. Home Depot rents them and every couple years they sell their rental tools. I bought mine from somebody who bought it as a used rental. Its 2 years old looks to have been hardly used in those 2 years. Its a bit much of a saw for somebody who isn't experienced but something like my Stihl MS260 is a little lighter and about the best all around saw I think you can have that can do pretty much anything anybody would ever need of a chainsaw. They don't make that model anymore think the new version is MS261 but they are pretty expensive too. I paid I think $300 for mine and $50 for my 026 which is the version before the MS260.

    5 minutes telling people how to read a manual is a bit much, no?
