- Ever wondered what it’s like to fly a helicopter? 🚁
That’s exactly what an intro flight is for. An intro flight is an opportunity to come and see what it’s like to fly in a helicopter. Interested students get to sit in the cockpit, learn about the controls and even see the surrounding area.
An intro flight is a perfect way to see if becoming a helicopter pilot is the right move for you. If you think you’re interested in becoming a helicopter pilot student, come take a tour and intro flight with us. There’s no commitment and it’s a perfect in-between step if you’re deciding whether you should fly for a living or not.

Let us know if we can answer any questions for you!
@@SUUAviation when we get our taxes im gonna get my diploma and sign up for the military again so i would like to know when is the last day to sign up for suu the year
I missed my calling, flying a helicopter for a living would have been great. If I had the money to full fill all my responsibilities and go to flight school, I will do it in a heart beat. May be when I retire I will do it . Great video.
I thought about becoming a heli pilot when I was younger but I doubt I would handle the stress
Just started with my add-on in Tulsa Oklahoma!
Hey! I remember Ceder city! Great airport and AMAZING FBO! I came in late at night on a XC to cali, and had to stop because of weather, and they were so nice and helpful, and gave me a curtesy car to take to my motel and and really took care of me!
Hi there! We are very fortunate to have a great FBO. We're glad you had a great experience at Cedar City's Airport.
I would enjoy having you as a CFI. Thank you for this video.
amazing, love to become a pilot.
Awesome
Thanks Carlos!
man i seriously hope that i can do this this year really soon
any luck? Im showing interest
@@daeganj I unfortunately live a few hundred miles away but if you live in Utah or near it or if you can get there then you can the only way I can get there now is if I win the lottery or sign up for the military again good luck
I wish...
I hope to go to SUU in a few years.
Awesome! Let us know if you have any questions!
I want to fly helicopters so bad but they’re so damn expensive. I live in Traverse City Michigan and the only place that does helicopter training wants to charge $850/hr for the R44 and that’s just ridiculous.
Hey Marcus, we know flight training is an investment which is why we have created a video on how to finance the program. We recommend checking it out! Also, please feel free to contact us at 435-586-7862 or aviation@suu.edu and we’d love to chat with you about some options.
I Will fly that helicopter 🚁
I want more information on that helmet and comms setup
So the helmet is an Alpha Eagle. As far as comms, we hooked up a GoPro Hero 7 into the helicopter audio using an adapter.
I really badly want to be a helicopter pilot but I’m not sure how to do it. I’m 14 right now so perhaps I can study some stuff early, before I consider flight school. Do you have any recommendations? I live in Australia so sadly I wouldn’t be able to go to this specific place(I assume that this is in America?). I’ll just research online for now, but is there any specific essentials I’ll need to learn beforehand? Thanks!
The earlier you start, the better. If you’d like to start learning about flying helicopters, we recommend reading the Helicopter Flying Handbook. You can either order that online or download it for free off of the FAA website. That textbook will help introduce you to basic piloting principles and is a great place to start. As for training, we are located in America and the standards across different countries are slightly different. We recommend starting to research what those requirements in Australia are. Let us know if you have any other questions, we’d love to help!
My son is a junior in high school and wants to be a helicopter pilot. He has been taking some flight lessons here in our area of Colorado through an instructor. Would any of this apply toward his degree if he enrolled in your program?
It most likely would. If he goes as far as to get his license, he’s welcome to join and start here on his instrument rating. If he also happens to take AP or local college, courses, he can transfer those credits towards his degree as well.
i wish but i live in germany, and its expensive 😥 iam keep flying with RC Modells. Iam only 30, and become a pilot is my dream, also its my big passion.
RC models are great ways to begin your journey in the air. We’d love to help make your passion become your day-to-day career. If you reach out to us over social media, we’d be happy to help you find your path to flying.
I fly Apaches in the military. Never flown anything on the civilians side. All I know is the apache, and watching videos like this seem so uneventful. Maybe years down the road when I get out I might transfer to something else like ems or fire or law or something. Who knows. But wow did that helicopter look boring to fly.
Well said. This was a turn off
Hi there! Have you had a chance to watch our BO-105 videos?
Well yea…it’s a piston shit can lol
Well yeah it's a student pilot program haha. They aren't going to be flying students in Apaches. That would be so unaffordable.
@GoDsOfWoLvEs we burn about 160 gallons an hour. Not sure what other helicopters burn but I'd assume that's a lot lol
