    Progressive psytrance is one of the most technically challenging and difficult genres to produce.
    I diverted away from it for a while.
    I found it impossible to be able to produce that perfect driving kick & bass. Bouncing and juicy, as in your tracks.
    After watching your recent tutorials, I’m considering to start again.
    I always liked you for your great personality Marko.
    You are an amazing and caring person.
    Thank you so much for the time and knowledge you share with us! ❤️

    I know, that it might be depressing thinking about the expensive gear, but I actually find the message very liberating. Making the hardcore math not so important releases the artist being held hostage by indecisiveness. You made me stop being a phase Nazi a while ago, and making music is way more fun again! Thanks for saying it!

    Intriguing video on managing the kick and bass relationship in psytrance production! Your approach to EQing down the fundamental frequencies of the first bass note to avoid interference with the kick’s tail is insightful. However, I recently came across a different technique that might offer an alternative perspective. This method involves separating the bassline into two channels: one for the first note and another for the subsequent notes. Within the synthesis stage, specifically using a wavetable synthesizer like Vital, the fundamental frequency of the first bass note is reduced directly in the synthesizer. This seems to sidestep potential phase issues introduced by EQ processing. Additionally, this method allows for precise control over the timbre and phase from the source of the sound, which could potentially result in a cleaner mix. I’m curious about your thoughts on this approach and whether you think it could complement or replace the EQ method, especially considering the phase alignment challenges in psytrance production.

    great channel, thanks for this. Could i make a suggestion. It took nearly 18 mins to get to the meat of this tutorual and i found myself skippijg to the main part. Dont mean to complain but i just think getting to the point sometimes without a massive build up works better. But that's just my opinion amd others may not agree.
    Thanks for all your.fantastic work.

      There are tones of videos that are straight to the point, but sometimes I have an urge to express myself about some important thoughts. It is a bit unfair asking that I make content that matches your interest only. I feel I have the freedom to talk about certain topics that I gathered through comments and teaching people. I’m sorry for such a bad experience as you needed to put in such hard work of skipping through the video to find the information you needed.
      Peace ✌🏼

      @@EClipChannel Thanks for the reply, i understand completely. SOmetime ago you mentioned you were making shorter videos because you found the results showed people were only watching for shorter lengths. Therefore i thought you were making them shorter. Your content is always some of the best, it is why i am subscribed. It's is not a bad experience for me to get to the part i am interested in. It was just a suggestion based on your previous commment regarding shorted videos. I mean no offence to your work, because you tutorials are top level. Peace

      @@jonathanoates1972 I do understand. After that video, in the next one, I spend a bit of time explaining why I will not make them shorter and that I made a mistake with that announcement. In short, I will not make them shorter as everything I try to teach is not short, its opposite and extremely wide areas of audio production and engineering. Many things about audio production are connected, and many times, just having a piece or a bit of information can make more confusion. Therefore, like in this video, I am trying to explain the wider picture as this topic, about kick and bass alignment is not clear to plenty of people (comments, emails) even that I already have 3 videos on same topic before this one. This topic is a perfect example that in order to make a good understanding of the phases, there are so many things to be understudy before that. Therefore, I am coming to the conclusion that if I make shorter videos, there are just gonna be the same as the rest of youtube content, and there won't be a need for me to make these videos. As I started to make those videos because UA-cam is full of false or incomplete information. I do not have any financial benefits from UA-cam, as my monthly earnings on youtube are around 50€.
      If you manage to get some time, I would like to invite you to watch this video without skipping, as I explained everything much better.

It's so annoying to always unplug everything and take it awYs to clean the dust. Also with keyboards and keyboards (pc and musical) how do you keep them from catching dust? I'm really wondering lol.

    first of all thanks for the information , you are doing great job . second why just not to cut the tail of the kick so it will not play with the bass ? you can also cut the lows of the first bass

    • @EClipChannel
      @EClipChannel  3 роки тому +2

      It will make fewer low frequencies on the kick. This might be a solution, but I personally do not like how the shorter kick sound. In some tracks, and some specific grooves this is the easiest solution, but for a certain groove, this is not an option. Changing the groove from track to track is important so that we provide different grooves in different tracks, and that way make our music more interesting. By not using longer kicks you will stay only in one type of groove.

      @@EClipChannel actually a pure sinewave and a pure saw tooth could be in phase but in the moment we process a little bit the bass it becomes physically imposible to align phases of both instruments.

    • @EClipChannel
      @EClipChannel  2 роки тому

      @@transition9867 that is not true! You should do a better check what is happening with the saw when you remove all other harmonics and keep only the first one, it becomes a sine wave. And this is what you should align. You cannot align phases of the signals that are oscillating in different frequencies. But if the first harmonic of the bassline is close to the end frequency of the kick, then you can align these two. Try petting a brick wall high-cut on the saw, and set it in between the first and second harmonic, check the oscilloscope of that and you’ll get proof.

      @EClipChannel  2 роки тому

      @@transition9867 There's no need to align it 100%. If the bass's first frequency is close to the kick's end frequency then it's worth doing it, if not, I mostly remove the first harmonic from the bassline in the kicks area.

    • @EClipChannel
      @EClipChannel  2 роки тому +1

      With ducking plugin you will need to reduce the volume of the first note of the bassline significantly, which will dictate how your groove will be. In the most of the cases that is to much ducking in my oppinion.
