    One other option would of been to leave the pump volute in line and just remove the pump motor. Take the pump to your supplier and get the proper seal kit. Those seal kits install easily. Other than that, your a beast!

      @strikerj4810 11 місяців тому +2

      Yeah thats the actual way to do it. He even said he saw the water coming through the seal. But that way can work too, but much more work.

      I would want block-off plates installed on the inlet and outlet flanges while the pump was out - bad things happen. Do any buildings stock the sal kits? That sounds short-sighted of the building managers.

      @@davidnull5590 When I used to do pump work, we would try and talk to these companies into having some back up seal kits, gaskets, etc handy for these occasions. We were having long lead times on some items, and some of these pumps can't afford to be off long.

      Big compared to residential pumps....but in heavy commercial that is a little guy. We have pumps that have 250hp motors that weigh 2500lbs. It all relative. These inline pumps are a pain compared to a horizontal on a skid. I recently had an emergency service call for a chilled water pump. It was an inline with a 100hp motor and we had to take it from another chiller that was luckily down for a teardown. Its not easy....but its fun

      @JumpermanTech  11 місяців тому +3

      Facts! If only I could get the pump seal kit. I need to call Bell & Gosset and find out which kit I need exactly for the series 80 pumps. That would be great to have on site along with a spare pump ready to go so there wouldn't be as much down time. Swap out the pump then rebuild the broken seal on site for the next one and have that ready for the future. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️

    Do you realize how much a new pump and motor would cost? Where I worked, they would have had me install a new seal onsite and have that pump back up and running by the end of the work day. Bell and Gosset is easy stuff to work on. You went to a lot of trouble and expense for nothing. You couldn't work for my old boss. I am retired industrail maintenance. No lock out tag out. You left wires hanging where someone could turn the breaker back on. That is a C Face motor. You unbolt the motor and lift it off. Then unbolt the bearing assembling from the volute. Remove the impeller and then install new seal. Put impeller back on and install new volute gasket. Parts should be less than $100.

    • @christopherleubner6633
      @christopherleubner6633 10 місяців тому

      As badly as they maintained the equipment I'm not sure there would be much of an impeller left. Would have definitely gave it a look over just to be sure how bad is bad. If it's just a seal no biggie, if the pump is shot here's the picture. ❤

    • @EWB66
      @EWB66 10 місяців тому +1

      You can replace the impeller if needed. They are available as a replacement part. Most of the time, they are okay or can be cleaned up or trimmed. The pumps all appeared to be the same series. The owner should have had an extra seal kit and gasket on hand in case of a breakdown like this. Water treatment is what usualy eats up the seal and/or impeller.

    • @christopherleubner6633
      @christopherleubner6633 10 місяців тому

      @EWB66 definitely an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. They should have srals and gaskets handy as they are very cheap parts. The seal can be replaced without removing the volute as well so no excuse for this. The degree of neglect is jaw dropping with this boiler room. Thankfully lots of pumps are designed to be serviced without removing the plumbing so service isn't a complete PITA. ❤️

  • @andresland9906

    Why would you reset the breaker? That breaker could've popped and it tripped for a reason you as a service should've trouble shoot the issue. It's easy to rebuild in place and its always good to have spare pump seal kits.
