Karen, you are so helpful and I can tell how much you care about your clients and about us. My fave thing you do is after you explain something, you very quietly say, " 'kay?" It's so sweet bc it's like you're directly talking to me and want to make sure I understand. 😘
Bless these videos 🤣🤣 I've been feeling a lot of wrist pain the past few months... probably because I was filing improperly lol I really love these tips!
This is fantastic thank you. I never realized I was whipping my file which was causing the tip of my nails to be uneven so I'd have to add extra gel on the tip to fix it. Now I'll watch what I'm doing
It's amazing all the nail info I thought I knew is all wrong! Wish this was apart of home economics back in the day because everyone files their nails at home.
This was so informative, especially looking at the nail from the clients view and down the barrel from the other side. You really can see every bump that way
Thank you for the information. Every time I watch YN videos it makes me want to go do my nails. I try to change every two weeks. Sometimes I just can't help my self and will do a color change just to make me happy.
Wow I'm actually learning so much about filing nails. I have some idea about filing but I've noticed a lot of things I've been doing wrong 🤦🏾♀️ but is never too late to learn something new lol
Ah my local salon seems to use 100 grit a lot for shaping acrylics and stuff, but when it came to removal time they used the same hand file on my natural nails to shape and also sort of buff the top before applying strengthener. As a result, my thumb nails especially seem to have sort of split in places. It did do a good job at filing down the length and getting a good shape on the natural nail but I did have more issues on the first removal perhaps where the tips of my nails were breaking a lot or had lots of chipping. Using more cuticle oil now
Right when im thinking which file is which- of course yall come through with an amazing video!! Ty ty ty ....i was using them allll wrong......u explained the whip!! And ill never do it again
This video was amazing, thank you so much for sharing all this knowledge! This has made me realize i'm actually using my wrist to file sometimes, specially when i'm filing my own nails!😣
I have to try out the yn files never used this shape, you guys always coming through with the best informative videos! ✨‼️ I’ve been a subscriber with my notifications bell turned on booboo! 😎❤️✌️
To remove the natural nail shine from the nail you should use a 240-grit file. I usually take off more than i should but if that 240-grit will work that would be great! Thank you, Karen
We recommend having one file designated as your “prep file.” This would be a file that has not been used on a person, but only used for prepping new files & bits. Depending on your state board, you may be able to store this file and continue to use it for prepping your files until it is worn out.
omg whipping that file. that's why my side always looks crazy on the right side. karen is there any way to fix this after you have done that or just make the other side match?!?!? lol
Had a manicure with short french style last night and I got 7 cuts on 6 fingers some at the cuticle on top and some at the corners of the nail where the underskin meets it. All the sides of the nails where the nail grows out at the corners were filed when she was filing and so those area are either cut or raw and when she put the acrylic tips on those nails; they were glues down to the skin including those cut areas. My fingers are sensitive and painful. Putting water on my hands burn and continues burning for a while after it dries. I don't want to soak them off with Pure acetone because the cuts are there. What can I do to pull the crazy glue away from the skin under the nails? Help?!
Unfortunately it sounds like the tech didn't remove the sharp edges of the file before using it on you. The biggest concern with getting cut would be to make sure they don't get infected. If the cuts don't seem to heal properly, we would recommend consulting with your healthcare provider. In the mean time, you may want to use an over the counter antibacterial product on them (some products have numbing agents that can help with the pain/sensitivity). Keep the skin hydrated with cuticle oil and this can also help break the bond between the glue and the skin. You can also try using acetone on a cotton swab to try to remove some of the glue. This way you can keep it away from the cuts.
I worked in construction for 8 yrs so I learned the grits first off.. My first gig was building sanding and staining an arondeck chair b4 they got popular
Is there a chair that is the most comfortable for the client? Bc that's the hardest part for me, they lean back in the chair and I can't grab their hand ✋ properly. I struggle with them . I need to get a new client chair.
Choosing a technician chair or client chair is going to be different for every technician since we all have different size/shape/height of tables. If you are concerned about your client moving or leaning back, you may want to look for a chair that does not have wheels or tilts back. Feel free to post this question to our Facebook Community group and there may be other technicians that can show you what chairs work for them in your same situation.

@@youngnailsinc Thank you so much! I live in the UK. At present my aim is to do my nails only :-) Again, thank you so much for creating this channel, the videos are extremely helpful!
This video is very helpful because I sometimes still struggle with holding the nail file. Thank you for share these amazing tips and tricks❤!! #YNGiveaway
You can use your wrist, but you just want to make sure you aren't OVER using it. If the only motion you are using is from the wrist, you will wear out your wrist very quickly. Use more of your elbow for the back and forth motion.

We use our 150 grit sanding band to remove shine from the natural nails. We use a low speed of 3,000-5,000 rpms and very light pressure.
Thank you! The next time I will order some sanding bands and give then a try!
Awesome Video...but is using an old file sanitary to rub against the new one?
We recommend having one file designated as your “prep file.” This would be a file that has not been used on a person, but only used for prepping new files & bits. Depending on your state board, you may be able to store this file and continue to use it for prepping your files until it is worn out.
@@youngnailsinc great advice!
omg whipping that file. that's why my side always looks crazy on the right side. karen is there any way to fix this after you have done that or just make the other side match?!?!? lol
Other than making the other side match, you can always add product back on and re-file the nail
Had a manicure with short french style last night and I got 7 cuts on 6 fingers some at the cuticle on top and some at the corners of the nail where the underskin meets it. Omg I whip all the time I was asking yall y my nails come out so deformed lol ty for this video
❤️
Could do make a video to do the filing on yourself please
We have some great videos here of working on our non-dominant hand.
Keep the old file parallel? Seems like it should be "keep the old file perpendicular to the new file".
What we are meaning is that you want to keep the prep file flat on the edge of the new file.
I definitely need this 😊

❤️❤️
What if you don’t have an old file?

Another one of your guys’ videos said to use your wrist. So don’t use your wrist?
