Prices are high(er), but things are changing quickly nationally and I expect good things in the future. Politically, Idaho is obviously a conservative state and people respect other people here. While you will see plenty of American flags and Trump stickers you will also see cars with the "Coexist" and Biden/Harris/etc. stickers as well...and they don't get keyed or attacked! Yes, Boise has been saddled with an extreme Leftist Mayor for a few years now, but she has been unable to go too far with her Leftist crazy because Ada County is 2/3 Republicans (how Dems get elected here is still a mystery to me...). I suspect that this too will change in the future. Yes, we have all four seasons here. Winters can get pretty cold and snowy (rarely snowy enough to be a problem though), and it gets up over 100 in July August. You may occasionally see a person with a gun on their hip (I wish I'd see more). IT'S OK! DON'T PANIC! Open/CC is 100% legal here and there are no shoot outs at high noon. Idaho is full of hard working, family people of faith. It's a great place to have a family and raise your kids. You couldn't pay me enough to move back to, what once was, the 'Great' state of California.

Sure you may be able to buy a home, but it's crowded now. Taxes are about the same from oregon to idaho, depending on your income. If you are on the poverty level, Oregon will give you benefits and if you make $$$ the taxes even out from oregon to idaho. Yes, utilities are cheaper in idaho bc you need an HVAC for all year long.
As a Californian ive been recommended Boise for the livable cost of living. Im interested🙂 the only thing that worries me is being near the Yellowstone Super Volcano and Snow fall😅
The thing about California is there are swaths of low crime, high quality of life, freedom minded folks but it’s expensive, unless you been dug in for awhile also easy for some to get caught up With keeping up with the Joneses/cheese dlcks
