In my almost 52 years of living, I have been vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, regular diet, back to vegan, raw vegan, back to pescatarian…and the one thing that I know is that I am not defined by the labels that people place on what i eat. We are allowed to learn, grow and evolve. Who you are today is not who you were yesterday and not who you will be tomorrow.
Kudos to you for allowing transformation and sharing it with us

I was vegan for 7 years! Over the 7 years, I was diagnosed with lupus and endured terrible debilitating symptoms. I was mostly plant based, organic foods and even raw vegan for a year. I had a vegan pregnancy until my last trimester, I was hospitalized for kidney failure. It was the most traumatic experience of my life. I decided to slowly incorporate animal products again, even though I felt a lot of guilt due to the identity I developed from being vegan. Now, I’m healthier and stronger than I’ve ever been in my life. This was all possible with the help of Ayurveda, focusing on my gut health and foods that are beneficial for my blood type.

@@s7r49 hi, its also worth noting that nowhere in the definition of veganism does it say that you have to cut out processed junk food. My first vegan meal was Linda McCartney sausages and chips and a can of Pepsi followed by some accidentally vegan apple pies that my new vegan friends told me about. ! I also have crohns, have been vegan for animals for 17 years, eat a regular diet (not the raw/detox/fasting/cleanse experiments that often end in health problems) I've never had to up my food amount/portion sizes and I also eat processed junk. Eating a really large quantity of food I'd say relates only to those following a raw or fruit diet as I should imagine they are pretty low calorie and more challenging to get adequate nutrients. I also haven't had a flare up for 8 years but I've no idea if that is due to my diet as sometimes its the luck of the draw.

Wow I’m SO glad that I’m seeing this video because I was reading one of my favorite books (Atomic Habits by James Clear). These sentences are towards the end of the book:
“In the words of investor Paul Graham, ‘keep your identity small’. The more you let a single belief define you, the less capable you are of adapting when life changes you. If you tie everything up in being the point guard or the partner at the firm or whatever else, then the loss of that facet of your life will wreck you. If you’re vegan and then develop a health issue that forced you to change your diet, you’ll have an identity crisis on your hands. When you cling too tightly to one identity, you become brittle. Lose that one thing and you lose yourself.”
There’s plenty more gems in this book, but this particular page made me think of all of the people who may have felt controlled by their identity and the people who don’t welcome change. Some people aren’t ready to release the *idea* of you being a vegan from their own identity because *you* ARE their identity. When you change, they don’t know who they should become. It’s not just with veganism. I see this same concept when one friend decides to go in a fitness journey and the other friend doesn’t want them to change. I see it when someone is starting a business but the people they grew up don’t think that person is worthy of being a business owner because they were all supposed to keep/share the same identity. It’s crazy but that’s how we humans live through life. I hope this little passage helps.

Wow! Yes! I feel so torn but my intuition is telling me I have to make a change in my diet. It’s been telling me for awhile but I’ve ignored it because I have held onto veganism for so long and have felt like it’s the best way, the healthiest way for so long. It’s just made sense to me but now I have to face a different view of it and honestly, it’s uncomfortable. I am ok with admitting I’m wrong if I know I’m wrong. But these crazy diets that wrap people up in their minds has got to go. I just want to be healthy and balanced. 🙏🏻

Just like you said I have noticed a huge change in my hormones. I’m grateful that you have been so transparent about how you have been intuitively eating and actually listening to your body. Once I started to do that, it has been such a game changer. You spoke so gently and empathetically despite this being such a triggering topic for some people. When I watch and listen to you, you really feel like a kindred spirit. It makes me so happy to see you unapologetically live love and learn and KNOW that your life’s purpose is to raise your vibration to the healing of yourself and subsequently heal others. I think people forget that healing comes with learning and making mistakes and to empathize with others as well as yourself to know what serves you may or may not serve others. I'm going to comment about this video because I'm quite frankly disgusted with society. So I follow your journey for example, because of the "realness". I follow you because i see myself in you. I see the humanity, the mistakes, the vulnerability....People now a days are so programmed to fit inside of these boxes that are too tiny for them to fit in!!! What hurts the most is when someone from my generation aka the good ol' days in the nineties, becomes part of the judgement. Why do i say that? well because if you are from my generation you would understand how messed up this new era is. What ever happened to just being you? to making decisions for you and not for anybody else? Changing your mind is allowed you know. And sharing that on UA-cam further proves that we as humans are allowed to change and are allowed to learn new things and that the very people (you) that we follow and look up are also normal human beings just like we are. Don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house is the saying. Don't be a hypocrite if you at any moment have changed your views on something that otherwise you wouldn't have agreed with before. The problem is that if your beliefs don't align with the matrix, you're not allowed to join society... We as humans are meant to change and evolve. Some are vulnerable enough to share their experiences while others do it in silence. Stay in your lane. The beauty of this life is that you too have choices. the choice to absorb this content or remove it from your feed. Make the choice or like I said, stay in your lane.

This is the same reason why I slowed ALL THE WAY DOWN on posting health content and damn it I'm a certified holistic nutritionist. I Got tired of arguing with people who refuse to experiment on their own body yet trying to tell me about something they only read about despite me saying how necessary it is to experiment on yaself while studying health to gain true knowledge. I been vegan, vegetarian, Keto and now back to whole food way of eating. So I have a good understanding of how it affects ME. I understand how the body works because I been studying the body for over 10 yrs now. Been able to keep my family healthy for yrs now... I even changed the direction of what I wanted to do for a living because of frustration with this topic when dealing with people. Smh. I will always watch ya content no matter what u chose to do. Forget these people sis. This is a duality reality we live in. Being an extremist with anything in life is why most people fail at life.

This resonates with me so so much. I was vegan for 6-7 years and I started incorporating animals products a few months ago. I had minor health issues that were not going away and having gut issues as well. My health has improved. I still have a hard time with the ethics but I do not see how it is ethical to harm myself if I need animal foods. All my blood work was great and I was still having issues. There are studies on pubmed that explain how plant proteins are inferior and not digested and absorbed as well. It appears that some people digest plant proteins more easily than others. Both my knees were hurting and I was worried at the agee of 36 that I was not going to be able to hike on a regular basis. I ate enough calories, ate plant proteins with every meal and felt weaker every hike. Finally 2 years of struggling with this and after 2 weeks of fish etc I noticed a huge difference. My knees are about 98 percent now. I wonder if I had eaten animal products sooner if they would be 100 percent. I do feel bad I have to eat animals but now I am thinking that maybe they were made for us to thrive. I do not support factory farms etc. I also took mulivitamins and other supplements as a vegan. I eat mostly plant based. Also I had bad period pain which has improved as well. I also had sexual issues which have improved. Went to obgyns and they said nothing was wrong. I support you and your video has helped me.

Especially when you're just trying to be open and transparent about this journey. But I do feel like you're not receiving these comments with a quality of openness I've come to know you to have. And that's okay but I just felt like sharing with you that you can receive everyone's feedback from a point of understanding and gratitude. Because what I see is how many people you've impacted and how many people appreciated your content to inspire their lives. Now for you to change your mind scares them because they aren't ready to change their mind. So they are feeling destabilized to have someone the admire make such a drastic change that they had not yet even considered. You might not have signed up for being this person for all these people but in a way, you did. By putting this content on UA-cam, you've taken on the responsibility of how your content would impact other people. Ultimately, I appreciate that your being honest but I also have empathy for people who have felt destabilized. I get it. In response to you being on UA-cam, it's still a big platform. In many ways, it's bigger than E. I don't ever watch E anymore but I spend so much time on UA-cam. Anyway, be free to flow and be but also allow people to feel what comes up for them. I do believe the most important thing about eating is how we harvest and preserve our food because energetically that will matter. We eat simply to nourish our bodies , nourishment for you may be different for someone else. As long as we do it with love and awareness nothing else should matter. Lose the identity on what and who you are through eating because I can tell you now , your are way more than your diet.

I’m annoyed you even had to explain what you eat to people SMH. When you bought that farm it was my assumption you were going to turn it into a homestead that raises all your food meat as well as vegetables. It would be awesome to be able for all of us to be so connected as you are right now to Mother Earth and all her abundance. Continue to Walk In The Light ✨✨✨

I love how you showed up for yourself in this video, it is so inspiring to hear you sharing about your path and hearing you affirm your trust in yourself. I'm also very grateful for what you shared about our kinship with animals and how we can heal ourselves by remembering these ways if we choose. Something I think about a lot is that veganism can be a way that we choose to go further away from nature, further away from the process of death, and further away from spiritual practices that include honoring these forces and our relationship with fellow living beings in our time on earth. Looking forward to more content where you share this beautiful authenticity with us!

Some vegans the ones I know care pridefully, abt what goes in their body. But they spew so much anger toward ppl that eat meat. Are they upset bc they really want to eat me??? From my experience vegans eat organic, but the things they say are toxic. It's too much going on globally. I love that you can stand up to these keyboard bullies. Continue to be your unique, self shalom.

I cant imagine a scenario where this vegan hippie getup didn't significantly influence your editing and production decisions in the past two years. Especially with your education and work history in production. Listen, I've been on the fence between a mediterranean diet and a vegetarian diet for awhile now. So I completely understand the journey of aligning you diet with your spirit, ethics, personal health, and science. However, it does indeed seem like you built your brand off of a gimmick. Maybe it was a phase you seriously considered. But, It's well known that their is a connection between the marketing power of veganism and ethnic spiritually ( like Ayurveda, and such) as you briefly mention acknowledged.
As another commenter said, if we would have just caught you in a random vlog eating meat over the years, that would have potentially had a different public response. Radicals are gonna be radical, but to much of your audience it would have at least seemed more authentic. Maybe then your comments of being human and allowed to change your mind would have seemed a lot less tone deaf. You could have even made a funny skit out of it. But instead you choose to lie to your audience (by omission) for the past two years. Its fair to assume many people bought your products or watched you because they believed you shared a lifestyle. Those who believed and invested in your brand for such reasons have a right to feel offended or slightly. Those who actually live that lifestyle and happen to be your business competition have right to express their grievances as well. The vegan community can be preachy and condescending which is annoying, I get that. On the other hand, it seem convenient that suddenly you want to announce your change of heart. At a time when you as an influencer have to focus in public engagement to your platform.
Next, you claim you regret your extreme views and that it made this transition from veganism hard for you. Also that you didn't want to teach nutrition in that way again. Yet, the rhetoric in this video is defensive, chalk full of victimization, deflection tactics, and there is no accountability at all. Therefore, the energy from your rhetoric pre and post veganism is relatively on the same wavelength. You don't owe your audience and explanation, very true. You do have to except the public reputation and rapport that follows the mess you created.
If your change your mind again in the future, so be it. Your human after all and you can do that . But to me it felt like a gimmick all along. I just gave you some play because there aren't many POC's in this space. Maybe it wasn't fake, but my intuition feels validated by your behaviors and responses. My unsolicited advice is to choose your marketing scheme better next time. For the record, you didn't have to sell me a crunchy, vegan, hippy to sell me herbs or nutrition (no offense to those who identify as such). Frankly, I could careless how your identify or live your life. You just have to be honest, know your stuff, be consistent in your teachings and consistent in your results. If you want to use science, stick to science. if you want to be holistic than do that. Just stop trying to sell us an image of you that isn't authentic. Then, get mad and gaslight when people call you out. It fair for people to think, " well damn, if she lied about this what else is she lying about"? That's just my opinion but whatever pays the bills, right?

When I said including some vegans I will include myself in that as I source from the supermarket as the cheapest and most convenient way to eat in a city. Eating locally and close to the land is more sustainable. However, for people like me eating plants is better if you are shopping in this way.

I'm literally going to say the most Stoner thing I can possibly say/think but honestly like how do you know food? why are there so many different conclusions on food? like how is this made? where did it come from? where did it exist? how did things evolve? why do things evolve? I feel like people are going to break their brain thinking of what's best I feel like if you're not in danger if you are happy and you are healthy and you feel good it shouldn't matter what you eat how you eat people's opinions get out of control want everyone to be the same a copy of a copy these types of diet and lifestyle changes make an environment very toxic for young girls boys ect. Evolving into men and women/ect. being controlled by society and what to eat like oh I should be this way oh no I should be this way people show me to be like this is trending oh what are people going to think of me oh people are going to hate me if I do this. Like I feel like people lose the sight of how much of an influence the internet really does have but honestly I don't see anything wrong with what you're doing you're following your heart I literally thought that being vegan was the best thing then I realized I kept getting sick all the time and my body did not like it did not develop that way so I had to change myself find something that helped me feel balanced and grounded in my own stomach because your stomach is connected to your head

Aren’t you supposed to grow and change as you learn new information and mature?? There is no wisdom or growth in staying the same. The internet has become so toxic (btw I hate the word toxic lol). But all of these are personal choices. People have gotta stop looking for validation outside of themselves. “Lol… see what happened is I changed my mind” HA! YOU ARE ALLOWED TO CHANGE YOUR MIND. You are allowed to become a NEW PERSON AT ANYTIME IN YOUR LIFE! I’m convinced people hate change and autonomy. PEOPLE ARE FREE TO DO AS THEY PLEASE. We aren’t slaves to our social media followings. Shit is crazy out here in these internet streets. Smh.

I simply stopped obsessing and things started flowing. Literally. Lol the truth is we just need to listen to our bodies. Here’s a short story: I went vegan and I developed orthorexia. And what may work for you may not work for another. We all come from different places/genes/ DNA’s.. Like seriously nobody should be giving dietary advice. 🤣
