Yeah, very much agreed, among all the hobbies that I love. (drawing, PC games, basketball, Chess, Guitar)......Guitar is the most enjoyable and beneficial emotionally, physically and mentally. Time flies so fast when you are jamming, it makes more gathering fun, teaching friends, not to mention "admiration". 🤭 But I enjoy playing it alone, even without audience. Guitar is also the coolest instrument, It's like an "inner circle". Only a few could relate. And the joy of finally nailing a hard "Yngwie" lick is such an accomplishment that you and your "inner circle" peers alone who are obsessed with learning technically challenging music can understand.🔥🤘
Good on you! There is too much negativity, snobbery, and elitism/cliques in all the hobbies I participate in, there are always the 'my way or the highway', the 'I have the secret info no one else has', and the 'well it didn't cost the amount of a new car so it can't work or be good', and with me, it comes down to skills, enjoying your hobby, and communicating, learning and teaching with, from and to others. I wish everyone would stop with all the ego stuff. Just do the thing.
After 52 years of playing I tell my students I am SO glad I will never "master" my guitar, AND I never want to either, it's a blessing from above that continually inspires and stirs my creativity. Kudos to you for getting those in our beloved craft to think in terms of GRATITUDE!
Interesting that you posted this video about hobbies. Years ago, I lived in a southern coastal city and took up scuba diving as a hobby. I really fell in love with it. The equipment, which I chose to purchase as opposed to rent, was pretty pricey but I felt more comfortable and confident in owning my equipment rather than rent it when I went on dive trips. Unfortunately, this hobby/passion came to a halt when I went to purchase life insurance. Could not get a policy for an affordable rate due to my hobby.
Of all of the (many) guitar videos I have watched in recent times, this is my favourite so far. Thank you my friend! My father used to say that if I learned an instrument, I would always find people I had a common interest with, wherever I ended up.
Expression: the action of making known one's thoughts or feelings. The guitar is also an Instrument of Expression. When words fail, I turn to music. Thanks Utkarsh.
LOVE YOUR STUFF... Im 51 been in music full time since 4th grade and i just bought a cheap violin..... and ITS SO FUN!!! say hello to your beautiful wife and stay calm stress kills brother! hello from Minot North dakota usa
Thank you for the enjoyable video. One could give an argument that playing guitar can help with things like world peace. In general, the more satisfaction, one has relates to the ability to emphasize with other humans. With the ripple effect this can affect communities around you. One could argue the best possible way to achieve world peace is to change oneself.
Any guitar is a luxury item. You are blessed to have enough money to purchase a luxury item even if it's down to a $120 Squier Strat. I've been trying to get my mind set around "want what you have" and stop trying to keep up with the Jones's
This is an amazing time as a player, CNC machines are making quality guitars cheap unheard of 25 years back. Moreover a 50 buck cube baby or 150 buck modeling amp can give a low budget player thousands of sounds. And youtube gives those players a stage to play on as well as access to thousands of lessons and people exploring any kind of music
VERY well said, Utkarsh! I hope we all share these feelings every day. But it's good to hear them to reinforce it all. And we need to keep all this in perspective and appreciate what we have. Funny coincidence, I had a similar discussion via UA-cam comments just this past week with Andrew @AmbientEndeavors. And we mentioned golf and boats.🤔🤣
I have been playing for 45 years, can play pretty much anything I've really wanted to and still, I need to work on my right hand finger and Travis picking, triads, that Pride and Joy blues shuffle etc. There is the joy of seeing someone being floored by your wall of guitars and 20 years later they are a monster player because you lit the fuse. And the chicks! Playing Dokken's "Its Not Love" and your girlfriend starts dancing and removing clothing! It's the best, dont look a gift horse in the mouth it works! Dont worry why!😁
Wonderful sentiments. So great to have a philosophical essay that is positive. Also, compared to driving, guitar is an incredibly safe hobby, barring tendinitis 😆 Im not sure if it is because i am listening to headphones, but the background music was a bit too present at times. I wonder if something like a high cut filter on it would help that? Thanks again for the video!
Well, said, my friend! I'd add: If you are playing guitar with headphones like I do, there's another important aspect: You don't hear your wife shouting at you, as your guitar is screaming. lol
I've suffered all my life financially. Guitar playing and music transcended all the pain, thank goodness. Imagine 45+ years of that, up's and downs, failed relationships because of my devotion to music. But worth it. I'd say in all that time, one very important thing is to LEAVE your city or location (if there is no music opportunities) if you want to pursue a career seriously.
The last point is very valid because I still see my guitar heroes killin' it "live" or wherever, some even better and more technical than ever. But my football/basketball heroes? 'Nuff said I guess 😂
Just own something that sounds nice like Fender Deluxe, a Vox AC30 and Marshall '59 and you have 80% covered in my opinion. You only need to find a guitar or three...maybe four... Most important that you do not enjoy your gear but envy your neighbour 😅
Umm, there isn't really a Jimi Hendrix as guitar is not such a big part of mainstream music. That said, Indian music translates to guitar in a very unique way and Prasanna is the master of that. You should see this video of him and his students at the PRS factory where you see this style in action ua-cam.com/video/CCKnzcKv55E/v-deo.html
My best chuckle of the day, "Good for your neural ... what's the word for it?" Great video and so true though. My neighbor spends money on golf and I make money playing music.

Hello from Bridgeport, WV and yes I do feel lucky. Love my guitars.

Thanks for the tip on the background music. I'll try out the filter and perhaps absolute levels
I watched this video and I picked up my guitar and showed it some love
Brilliant
Thanks. I always enjoy your videos.
Guitar has brought so many benefits and experiences to my life
I enjoyed this my friend 🎶on my way to a gig 🎸

it's good to hear these views!!
Well said.
Great points.
Love this guy. You are great, and I am an asshole most of the time. Your insight is great, keep it going

Neural Plasticity
Who is the Jimmy Hendrix of India? Who is someone that the average US or western person needs to listen too guitar wise?

bla-bla-bla BS
People (young women) in America don’t give a damn about musicians-
Especially guitar. It’s not a cool hobby anymore.
