I just got an e-mail from Brian yesterday, he's still doing great and knockin them out with the oldies but goodies, truly a legendary american pop idol. Submitted by Julian Leal
Wow. Why isn't this guy a major ROCK STAR? He's got it all. I rediscovered this great song from my high school days and I can't get over how good this version is. Brian Hyland is such an incredible talent. I think if this video got more exposure, Brian would be THE MAN...all over again. Great backing band too. I watch this clip at least three or four times a day. The passion of this performance is just so solid. GO Brian!
Awesome. Knew Joker went wild and Sealed w/ a kiss, but these (4) live performances at this rock legends show by Bryan Hyland absolutely blew me away. Only on You Tube. Thanks so much
Im glad its not, I just came to see , if people actually listelned to songs like this and even weirder is that they seem to be actually enjoying it.... looks so weird that someone would. Such random cheap store background audio music.
I was 11 yo when this great song came out. music is the one and only thing that sparks my memory when it comes to remembering anything prior to 15 yo. gypsy woman was playing during the credits to a movie or series I was watching and a flood of great memories came to me. just when I thought I've heard every one of my memory throw backs, along comes another. Thank you! thank you! thanj you! Brian.
Watching movie Heartbreak Kid and heard this relic... Brought back such awesome memories of parties at the beach in Maine as a teenager. How I wish I could time travel back!!
In response to where music like this is...there is a station called MeTV FM. 87.7 in Chicago. .It has crazy variety from that era and the one after it. Over 3,000 songs in rotation.
I listen to this station all the time. I'm a true child of the 70's - grew up in the 60's, graduated grammar school in 71, high school in '75, college in '79. This country will never see times like those again. The weird, really consistent thing about this station is that they play one awesome song (something so cool, but also something I've totally forgotten: 2 example: Mouth & McNeal's 'How Do You Do?' and 4 Jacks & a Jill's 'Master Jack' Classics!!! Then they play something more recent, more obscure & honestly, not the greatest. It's one good, one bad, one good . . . sometimes there's a nice surprise with 2 goodies in a row. But who ever is selecting this music really knows their stuff. :)
@gary56victor57 yes, this live performance shows that Brian still has the chops, but the record itself is perfectly magical. I was the same age as you, and it was one of the better things about 1970.
Brian was born: November 12, 1943 (age 70), he is still singing his great singles. I have another recent video I want to post but the video is shaky and the volume was low. I'm working on it to improve the quality. Will post as soon as it's done.
ok I am not REALLY OLD but this song just has that something like when I would go out to dance and just knew that the night would be great I like the original that is slower with more mystery
@flomurdock I agree. The Impressions' wonderful original has a much more sensual feel to it, and cannot be surpassed. It is of course a great song, which is why Bryan covered it.
Like this better than the original 1970 .. Awesome. Play it every day...
Great version
Live for sure!!!! Great version!!! Better than the original!!
Great performance. Since he probably has performed this song every week or more for 40 years he has polished it over the years.
i love the studio version, but man, this is great. Brian can sing!
Best version of this song by far

I like his recorded version, but I like this version much more. His vocals are less restrained; he seems very relaxed and ready to rock.

I love this performance of an old Curtis Mayfield song.
+Ricardo Bell It was the best one
yes the impression
Does anyone know when he performed this song? He ages like a fine wine!!!!! I wouldn't mind be his gypsy woman!
Now let's all thank Curtis Mayfield for Originally writing and recording this song in 1961...which this guy later covered.
Hey--this is great!!--it's actually better than the original record--thanks for posting!!
I feel GYPED after seeing this.
cudos to the make over he had since his Joker Went Wild days! an obscure talent for sure
Love this
That was good. I wonder why that singer (Brian Hyland) didn't do more stuff.
Like his take and spirited performance on this Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions classic. Remember both versions.
luv it
Pretty darned good. By 1970, he had come a long way from "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini."
Fantastic .
@flomurdock I agree. The Impressions' wonderful original has a much more sensual feel to it, and cannot be surpassed. It is of course a great song, which is why Bryan covered it.
Still...Good
i like the performance he pulled it off
