I just started playing the Mega Man series all over again, and at the end of X4 you can see Zero without his helmet in the Chamber while put him in. Without his Helmet he has the face of Rock and Rocks is Identical to Protomans (in theory) I assume while blues body was about to give out, his memory was formatted (which is what he scared of) and he was modded into Zero. I also have a Theory that "Shadow Rockman" from the future is that realities Protoman. He even says "He was the prototype of Rock" and one Cylde was kidnapped he followed him to the past after wily. (he says this during the convo was bass)
I thought about the same thing too, that Protoman might of been used as a basis for Dr. Wily's creation of Zero. I think much in the same vein of what happens to Zero during the Elf Wars, Dr. Wily could of transfered Protoman's consciousness into Zero's body and the color scheme and design could of been inspired by Protoman.
I mean that makes sense but at the same time, Omega was said to be the true body of ZERO, Which means that the zero that we have After X5 is the copy and thus omega is a copy and zero in mmz is the real zero with brain damage.
Thumbs up for interesting speculations. How about this though... Protoman's Racer X behavior as the mysterious older brother who shows up to help out once in a while and as we seen in Mega Man 7 he actually is a little stronger than Mega Man and also notice he's a bit taller, has similar colors to Zero and a sleak, stylish helmet with mysterious shades. Also, note the ending of Mega Man 3 in that Proto Man's serial number is 00. By the time Mega Man Power Battles or Power Fighters rolls around, we see Mega Man 7 styled graphics with Duo as a playable character in the second game. In Proto Man's ending, we see that he has a damaged part that needs repair or he'll die but, he refuses to let Dr. Light repair him and runs away again and in Bass' ending Bass deserts Wily to go live the way he wants to. They have an argument and Bass leaves but, Wiley decides that Bass is no major loss because he's working on building a robot even stronger than bass and we then, see a design of what will be Zero. Also, Zero's behavior in the Mega Man X series is very similar to Proto Man's behavior in the standard Mega Man games. Dr. Light and Dr. Wiley's robots were originally called "Humanoids" and in the Mega Man X timeline similar robots are called "Reploids" Maybe "Replica Humanoids" but, not all of them have a human-like appearance as the older robots did so, maybe that's why the word Reploid was used for the newer versions. Also, whenever Mega Man X or Zero explode, the appearance and sound are similar to how the standard Mega Man explodes and they also both self-teleport in the old style as well. I brought some of these things up years ago on the Capcom Forums but, I held some stuff back because I wanted other fans to play both the Mega Man series and Mega Man-X series again in chronological order while also reading the instruction manuals alongside each game played, paying close attention to the game's dialog, weapons, items and abilities. One of the things I purposely left out back then was Dynamo's self-teleportation style. Also, notice his colors, the fact that he's a jerk, is relatively strong and seems to think that Sigma is just spectacular. But, this is more about Zero. In one of the Mega Man-X Instruction manuals, Zero's origins are said to be shrouded in mystery. In Mega Man-X2, Sigma likes to refer to X as just Mega Man. At the end of Mega Man 7, Mega Man was going to kill Wiley but, hesitated when the base began to collapse and in Mega Man 8 what Duo called the "evil energy" tried to corrupt Mega Man so, Duo forced it out and destroyed it and Wiley got away again. It's been a long time and I don't play anymore but, I decided "Why not?" "Why not just go ahead and talk about some of what I've noticed over the years while playing these games?" I hope my input will help in your research. Good luck on solving the mystery.
What a read! Everything is pretty solid except for the end of 7. The English localization actually changed the line. Mega Man was cursing that he can’t kill Wily, but in English he chooses to go through with it. It’s a common misconception as 7’s Japanese text wasn’t translated publicly until years later. But yeah, you bring up good points about Zero’s personality being similar to that of Protoman.
@@StevDeS, thank you. I didn't know that about MM7. I try to separate the US story line from the Japanese story line because of how many things get changed in US ports but, it is interesting to look at all of it. I used to be a Mega Man collector and played the first game when I was 17. I'm 51 now and am more focused on the simplicity of arcade classics type games. I find that the older I get, the more I like early childhood stuff. BTW, are you familiar with Mega Man Vegeance by Dragon Eye Studios?
I do however think that Zero is much more than Protoman. I think that Dr. Wily likely used all of his assets to build Zero. My theory is that Protoman and Bass were torn down and parts of them combined and used to build Zero. I think more their personalities and possibly certain tech parts that were harder to replace. I also think that the Maverick Virus (Zero Virus/Sigma Virus) was also a refinement of the Roboenza virus in Megaman 10 mixed with the Evil Energy he found from the robot from space in Megaman 8 and contained inside of Zero.
@@ei1714 But it was just an incomplete silhouette at that time, if you remeber that when Megaman fought Zero in MM Unlimited, he had no armor but I'd like to believe that X and Zero were both completely new creations with new technology that was available at the time which far surpassed those that the OG Robot Masters were designed with which is why both X and Zero are so much more superior to the old robots.
I am not going to lie, I think its common consensus protoman probably had a spectacular way to go before he kicked the bucket in the classic era. However it seems fuzzy to me in weather protoman was rebuilt as zero (as why would wily wanna fix protoman (altho yeah wiping his memory clean wouldve helped)) or if protoman was split into what would become X and Zero (as its in both doctor lights and doctor wilys nature to seem to sabotage their creations to make something better and stronger) or if protoman actually died. I am more for the theory the roboenza virus came back in a much more dangerous form after megaman controversially kills wily, infecting zero to the point zero is completely out of control. Forcing protoman to do the work of putting zero was in stasis to begin with, this couldve been at the cost of trying to redem the character of bass (probably after killing megaman) to at least stop zero. This wouldve had to have been realized before the events of megaman 11 giving us a reason for protoman and bass to be missing knowing bass wouldve succumbed to the virus again as well as protoman only trailing behind megaman knowing what was going on. Just my take on it... idk

Add this to your theory... protomans serial number DLN-000.
Protoman = Zero in MMX
I would say yes, but it’s very clear that Wily made Zero a separate robot from Protoman. It’s why I went the MMZ route.

Wouldn't harm the idea that protoman was either the basis or the template used by wily to create zero.

This is not possible sorry because
1.Wily shows Zero To Bass

15:01 Oh so, the original zero was omega
And then protoman is the zero we know in mega man zero
That’s the theory yes.
@@StevDeS Ok then. But if protoman becomes zero, then I think X probably mistaken protoman as zero, since he was modified to look like him
Well X never met Protoman. Most of his memories weren’t retained either.
If you beat mega man 3 you find out that Protoman is the zero creation this beaing the Zero prototype of mega man
Yes, I imagine this is common knowledge given he’s DLN-000…. Or DWN-000, in this case it doesn’t matter, ProtoMAN is Mega’s ProtoTYPE
Not big into Megaman but this was a good one

or the FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDYS
Um that another theory for another day
