As a fisherman in this game, that bait crate is game changing! Also that FOTD skull is amazing!
Totally agree, currently on the hunters call grind and this will be of massive help
I can't believe it's real! I was jokingly wishing for the Bait Crate, when I was trying to finish the Wildsplashes. My favourite feature of S9 by default.
You suck it all you do is fish
how are you still uncuicided
It ain’t though, storage crates exist already.
This game's audio is INSANELY good. Like holy crap. It all blends together as if I am playing a video game in a theatre. Serious compliments to the team behind that
The noise of water hitting rocks can be toned down a notch though ;)
I just got this game last night, and omfg the lighting and sfx in this game is a dream. It’s not the Rareware I grew up on, but I’d be damned if I wasn’t experiencing those same feelings. Playing this game with a Rare music compilation in the background ❤
Exactly my thoughs on my first time playing the game (A month ago), It is really atmospheric, on the ship, on a outpost or an island or wherever, it really encorporates the ambientation
My friends and I’d hoped of scalable ship sizes in session seem to be a pipe dream the more seasons come out without that feature...
@@SamuraiKibijihat can be abused by people, I think if it were to be added it should cost money and you can only change at an outpost once an hour or so
I had a feeling the rumors were true they wouldn’t have a bunch of new content, but this is a huge quality of life change for so many people. My personal favorite is the harpoon fix being a main solo slooper. 🤟
Same here! Such a small change but will save so much time and energy
Seems like quality of life updates are so common they made this game so easy lol I ain’t saying I don’t like it but I think they have gone overboard I mean you don’t even have to pick up treasure lol don’t have to loot Barrels anymore. Supplies are not longer an issue game is so easy now only thing left is pvp
Even though I don't play the game anymore, I'm still happy to see it getting love. Like seeing one of your best friends go off and do well in life.
Happy sailing to all, old and new!
You should seriously play again, if you have the time!
Get back into it! I am a day 1 player who returned this season after missing the last 5 and DAMN does it feel good to be back!
I came back and fell in love all over again. I recommend checking in again this season.
Same I haven't played more than an hour in the last 2 years. Everything new that's cool is just too pvp focused for me.
To me, the last third is honestly the most exciting. It's just all those things that you never knew you needed.
This game for me is all about the memories I make with my crew. These quality of life changes will make our future memories even better! Thanks Rare!
Then dementia comes and these memories fade like yesterdays dirty underpants. 😅
@@MrHAPPYHAWAIIAN wait... but what's dementia..? hang on a second... what's dementia..? hang on a second... what's dementia..?
@@SubnautiDiver I once had dementia until I forgot I had dementia.
Honestly one of the best SOT updates ever! We’re finally gonna see loads of FOTD like when that Halloween event was on
This re-balancing update is amazing! I think Rare has been knocking it out of the park with these last few updates.
Major changes that are going to make this game so much easier to play, thanks a bunch for sticking with us rare
All I saw was mostly cosmetic
@Monolith Studios they are changing the way that harpoons work with loot as well as rebalancing a lot of PVE encounters as well as fixing the Red sea exploit
@@cassettefreak2652 still all only minor at most...
@@NeokoriZockt minor? GHOST FLEETS ARE BACK!

Thank you Rare, this is my favorite game of all time and glad to see five years later it has grown so much. Even though this season is quality of life updates, it is still great. Thanks for all the effort
This is one of the best qol updates if not THE best maybe the shrouded spoils but this the harpooning shroud loot this is BIG
Has it tho? Has it grown SO much?
It really hasn't.
@@evaone4286 I have the sails from 10 million players and then by a pirates life, we where above 25 million players, so while it might not be the most popular game on Xbox/steam, it has grown a loy
@@evaone4286 Yeah it has
@@evaone4286 It’s grown, it’s definitely grown.
“Nice try, runners!”
THANK YOU RARE! I haven’t had much experience with people sailing into the shroud, but still I’m very glad that this has been updated. Sailing into the shroud just wastes the time of the chaser and runner.
In before "if I can't have it ,you cant"
That's the whole point. If they want to waste my time, I should be able to waste theirs.
@@armpitbeard2031 well. After this update. Might as well get a new tactic
@@mountainrogue3448 I'm not playing anywhere but alliance servers after this update, so there wouldn't really be much of a point. Could call that the coward's way out, but I don't care.
@@armpitbeard2031
Good for you then.
This will be good stuff. Really looking forward to it and thankful for the constant additions.
Something I'd like to see added would be more clothing slots for our pirates. Jewelry and bandoliers would be great. I also think it'd be cool if we could have our weapons show up on our pirates like Deadshot Charlotte at Lone Cove.
I never found world events to be difficult at all, ever (unless there are other players involved, of course). The only thing I found them was frustrating which sort of pushed me away from doing them ore often than not. Making them less tedious and quicker is only a positive to me.
Keep in mind, the large majority of SoTs playerbase is very casual. You'd be surprised at how much those solo and duo crews actually struggle with finishing world events in a decent amount of time.
@@Kezsora I am one of these players lol, take me too longs to complete a normal fort
They mentioned in the announcement stream that they are rebalancing them to make them less frustating and time consuming, they are not hard in general, but its true that some of them can take a lof of time and some bosses are just literally bullet sponges, they are aiming for world events to be doable by most players rather than adjusting the actual difficulty or challenge from the events
@@bamboozle567 I legit did a solo FoF once, and right when I finished after like 2-3 hours, I got smacked by a brig that pulled up. Fun times...
@@Thamb0 yup. A lot of people
Have experienced that scenario. I’ve been on both sides of that coin myself lol 😂
I’m always down for a good quality of life update. Especially when it makes the game feel bigger like the new chests, more active megs and Krakens, and return of ghost fleet workd events
wait a minute. 3:05 is that a decently colored kraken figurehead?!?! oh my!
Im so excited! Congratulations Rare!! 5 years of SoT content updates is incredible. Thank you for all you do, and I cant wait to play this update!
These QoL changes are actually quite interesting. As someone who PvP’s only I can say I’m quite excited for these PvE additions too. That skull will bring back FoTD for sure.
The update where they won't allow a player to sail off the map with their loot might be great for the PvP players but it's terrible for the PvE players. I just don't think this game is right for me as this last update is the final nail in the coffin.
@@AudraT W-what? Sailing off the map with loot benefits no one. You waste everyone’s time and nobody gets loot or supplies? How exactly is making it so the loot can be picked up a bad thing? What I’m getting from this is, you refuse to fight people and lose your loot to them, so you decide to red sea so no one can have the loot?
@@AudraT I saw your comment you posted, you’ve misunderstood how this works. When going into the red sea, as far out as possible to where you get black screened and “insta sink,” any loot you had on board will now be pushed into an area for people to get instead of it being put of bounds. Sailing into the red sea doesn’t just drop your loot off or something now, it’s only if you decide to hit the barrier what black screens you. It will push your loot back into safer waters when your ship sinks.
I’m glad there’s a lot of fixes to spawn rate issues and quality of life improvements but I was expecting… more? Like hunters call quests maybe?
order of souls still being forgotten💀
Yeah but outpost fishing sales are cool
@@jobt1999 do you also have the sails for handing in 50 ghost captain 💀 s?
this update will make the game much more fun tho
Lots of great changes, but yeah for a full season no new events or big feature
I'm SO glad about the Hunter's Call stuff. The Bait Crate is a piece of loot I'll be glad to get if I have the time to fish. Selling to the Sovereigns will be so much easier, and FINALLY getting a new member at Stephen's Spoils will hopefully make the grind a little more manageable.
Y’all always do a great job at your content update videos! Cheers to you 🎉
One technical issue that hasn't fully been addressed, that would be a great help, is more audio options. I would love both a more in depth output balance option, maybe allowing for specific effects to be louder, as well as the ability to specify which input is registered for in game voice chat.
But that can lead to "unfair" advantage, because you could tune everything down except footsteps, ladder splash and other sound cues. So in the end you would have to do that too, or everyone else would have an unfair advantage.
@Lari true, but it would be an option for everyone.
Just a better system to differentiate shots and hits from wind and sea effects. Especially since some ambient ship noises can be mispercieved as taking in water and the "death groans" of your ship.
In areas of intense action, players may find themselves firing shots or landing strikes that do not cause damage to their targets. While small improvements continue to be delivered during our regular updates, we are continuing to investigate and identify further improvements.
5 years later still no update
It’s never getting fixed just accept it
@@mrjettson every game has it and as they explained sea of theieves bullets are highly dependent on physics because there are ships and waves involwed in the fight its not fixable

new updates are abysmal, this adds almost nothing to the game, it's amazing that people can root for rare while they pump out these tiny game changes season after season. the game has never had less passion put into it, just think back to older updates and compare them to what the game is getting now.
This is a perfect update like im really impressed by the sea of thieves crew like im amazed on how they polish their game more and more to make just as exciting as ever
Awesome job Rare! Thanks for making the long month of March a lot more interesting!
They failed to mention (unless I missed it) that if you have a Treasure Chest with items in it, you can just sell the chest directly and it'll sell all items within automatically. FINALLY.
I love the amount of quality of life updates this game has been getting recently. There's so many things that are so much better than they used to be.
Been playing since beta and I can say they really listen to the community and add what we ask for when they can
I’m really happy they’re adding your events to your captain log. Since I’ve started the game 2 years ago, I’ve wanted that feature, so I’m really happy it’s coming. Let’s hope for a good Season 9!
Yeah I want to read back on what ive done or see the legends of logbooks I’ve found
One of my favorite games to solo sloop. Thanks for continually updating this game. Hope for more to come!
Which other game can you solo sloop?
@SFL twink Imagine if this Game had some funny thing like a Group post or such function that you can easily join other Players and Group.
Now....wouldn't that be quite hilarious?
Things that I am excited for:
1. The harpoon change
2. Selling hunters call to Sovereigns
3. I like the fates of fortune shipset but not that it's locked behind doing FOF.
4. Skull of Destiny
Things I am not looking forward to:
1. More fog
2. More getting Rare'd (more kracken and meg) both of these are more of an annoyance than a treat. Please change the way the kraken drops loot and make it one big pile when you finish killing it instead of lots of tiny pieces from each tentacle
Well the only way to really refresh the FoF is to give people a new reason to do it and I think for that reason, it’s perfect
It also will make for a new rare chest
I'm happy there are more kraken and meg actually. I feel like they've become too rare actually.

That Prosperous Privateer outfit looks incredible! Also, the new log book changes are so rad. Makes me really feel like a captain! And the bait boxes oh my god! The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the automatic harpoon, but I guess if it makes the rest of the community happy then I'm happy!
Cool That the patchnotes got their own season
It's about time for this, I've been waiting for an update like this FOREVER, and I LOVE THE NEW SHIP CREST, MUST HAVE IT!!!!!!!!
My god, the Bone Hunter jacket from the shops is finally a real thing!
Also my prayers for Stephen's Spoils being useful again have been answered!
Here's hoping for the eventual addition of a "Fate of Fortune" shanty locked behind the chest of fortune commendations.
This update is almost everything me and my friends have been asking for
5:46 Why does the guy taking over at Stephen’s Spoils look a lot like BoxyFresh? 😂
Rare, you made a big improvement and I’m really excited about this update, sounds really cool
I am looking forward to season 9 - and earning that wonderful Fate of Fortune set for my ship (looks absolutely stunning!) and pirate!
It would be lovely if you can roll up your ladder , its way to easy to board enemy ships. Add grapple shots which will make the ladder to fall back down to start boarding.
Everything's here was so needed for the game.
Thank you Rare!
This might not be as huge as season 8 or 7 but it looks like it will be my favourite, great job rare!
The W A L L truly is the greatest feature ever added to a a game
Nvm they didn't even show it in the trailer. Why did they go on about nothing in the livestream when they're adding so many new things?
Because half a decade is a helluva milestone to reach and they did talk about some stuff that was coming in season 9 before they showed the trailer
what is the wall
@@adrian_dridi a wall to take screenshots with your crew

This is going to make things much more pleasant, especially for solo sloopers.
@SFL twink lol, if you're a good player then even that's hard to do.. I've sunk everything including galleys as a solo slooper
@SFL twink Exactly. Used to be sailing off the map with all your loot was the last line of defense for a solo slooper. Now, we don't even have that.
@@AudraT bruh thats not defense thats spite
@@Big_G1945 it's a stalemate is what it is. You don't get to have fun because a clearly superior crew is running you down like a dog, they don't get your loot because you dumped it in the red. Now that's gone.
No more Red Sea "Loot Denying". As a small part of that group i'm sad (Context: Solo vs DA Galleon? nope thanks) , but for my PVP hungry side, i love that i won't loose other athenas off these pesky red waves! i've held so many grudges for years because of Sloops that kept running for eternity. (not that i was better at some points, but when you can't win you just can't. And i can only blame myself for not stopping them.)
Anyway.. Love the Harpoon, especially as a solo Slooper, and everything else is awesome! Looking forward March 16th!
PS: THANKS SO MUCH for the replacement at that seapost!!
Great stuff, some much needed Quality of Life changes! Also smaller crews can do more now and solo players will be able to finally do world events too! Awesome
People don't understand how great this really is, even for the PVP players. This update strongly encourages more (SMALLER groups of) players to get loot for them to plunder
@SFL twink Harpoon change + Souvereigns + Faster world events + faster respawn times for solo players are all HUGE improvements for solo players.
@@shawn8050 Agreed! Update looks small on the surface but has the potential to make the Adventure experience so much better

They need to add a buy all commodity crates button. They could also add a multiple select button.
"ghost ships are back"

I feel that, whilst this update adds great quality of life features, it is not enough for any pve players to span 3 months worth of content. I feel this filler update is leading up to a much bigger season 10 update.
Fingers crossed cuz seasons have been bumped up to 4 months each, the idea of 4 more months of nothing new is going to detour me from playing. A new player may have tons to do but a player who's played the game for years with 1000s of hours invested in the game has very little to work on. I'm REALLY hoping season 10 wows us like season 3 did, something so big and exciting, no one knows it's coming, that's what I need.
@@stiixgirl6148 Don't forget that you can always take a break from a Game.

I'm so hyped, I've been waiting for some of these features for so long
Season nine seems to be a quality of life mega patch which is awsome
Great updates! Love to see the dev team working on changes that matter.
Took them 6 years to add an outfit that is present since day 1 in the wild shop on a mannequin. Also the privateer outfits is legit something I wished arrived way earlier because it really is more pirate like and looks way less goofy than the other outfits we have. + this compass on the belt and those rings are the icing on the cake
Good to see a QOL update I like things being added, but sometimes you need a season to just fix older stuff and make things better.
This update is amazing, but I spent.... SO LONG getting Hunters Call to max rep. Would be nice to have some sort of achievement before this season, where it'll become so much easier to get rep with them.
I also wish they would have added more relevant quests to them. Like hunting a rogue meg or kraken.
But still, awesome update.
AN ARCTIC SIDE OF THE MAP WITH ARCTIC FISH AND ICE BERGS WOULD BE SO COOL!
I LOVE a good overall QOL update! The majority of these changes/updates are saving players the most valuable currency of all: TIME!!
And at the same time enriching those moments we spend in game with less down time👏👏👏
skull of destiny harpoon and surfacing loot from red sea runners are great seasons going to make a lot of ppl happy
Holy crap! The devs have really outdone themselves this time; Upping the spawn rate of Krakens and Megs, while keeping larger world events scaled to the crew? Ingenious!
And that's not to mention the QOL imrovements! Bait boxes, birds, and harpoons? F**k yeah!
I have lost MILLIONS of gold worth of loot to people running off the edge of the map to despawn all of it. This and then always without fail, an xbox message saying something along the lines of "get rekt" or "get red sea'd on." Thank you for fixing this Rare, it's been a problem for so long.
Honestly, I don't care what the haters say about this season. This might be one of my more favoured seasons as of late. As someone who plays solo half the time, this will make my sessions in game all the more enjoyable, as I can actually do stuff now!
I'm just tired of having to keep a low profile just because I'm solo. But now this will make the game far more enjoyable. But not only that, the increased activity in servers will cause more players to be on the seas, and it leaves more opportunity for those fun shenanigans I have once in a blue moon, like organic alliances stacking world events, epic battles on the seas, wholesome interactions with new and experienced players alike, etc. I know there's The Hourglass for PVP, but the hackers kind of ruined that. Season 8 didn't add anything. It's a repackaged arena

@@kurtismuzio7436 True. Season 8 is pretty much arena 2.0, but season 7 & and 6 were major updates. Season 9 is a breather from these variety of changes to the game. Ensuring that older content is still well managed and maintained to a present stand point without newer stuff stacking on top of it too much.
I just got into this game yesterday, and I’m hooked. From what I’m gathering, this could be a renaissance for the game.
Something I find interesting is that they show an ashen winds and a kraken up at the same time does that mean that krakens can now spawn when world events are active?
Some people may be disappointed by this, but it makes me know the whole team is focusing on making season 10 massive
They just need to patch hitreg and put an AC and everyone will be happy
I honestly don’t care about S10. A proper QoL update is such a good thing that I’m happy whatever happens
@@commandershortsight I hope they just spice up the game a little more. Not so focused on cosmetics and all that but rather on the actual mechanics of the game. Perhaps actual waves crashing into the shores which could push you around, rare rouge waves that you have to face into in order to avoid damaging your ship, etc... Working on improving hit reg and server connectivity would also be nice.
Definitely makes me disappointed. if someone sails their ship off the map that person will go off the map, their ship will go off the map, but their loot will stay behind? That doesn't make any sense. It used to be that sailing off the map was the last line of defense for a solo player trying to escape from a bigger and meaner crew. Now, we don't even have that. I'm so glad have a quality of life update (especially the crew sized skaling) and to have the ghost fleet back for more variety in world events.
Great job Rare
I'm glad to know that when the game notices my crew has been sailing smoothly with tons of loot and sends thr kraken and megladon as cannon fire between some ghost ships and one skelly galleon rain from above I was just slightly unlucky and not extremely lol. Love to see the seas be more lively especially the fog change cause pvp and pve are fun it.
This season seems to be upping the chances of us getting Rared with increased Megladon and Kraken activity
Is it just me or is the Emporium ship set/costume set an homage to Mortal Kombat's 30th anniversary? Feels with the dragon theme and ninja-like costume, it feels like a tribute. Very cool for game studios to recognize legendary franchises having a big anniversary.
Even though it's a smaller season I'm very satisfied with the additions and changes

@MrViper111 I would think maybe like the ships, more stuff to decorate with. I the store did something similar with individual ships. Maybe sail into an area like the green in the tall tales? Lol idk
1:31 so they scrapped that giant talking skull? I really liked that dam
As a solo slooper, I literally covered my mouth in excitement at having the harpoon automatically dump the loot on the deck
@SFL twink Where did I say anything about survivability? I'm just glad it's faster, since I don't have anyone there to take the loot off for me. Anyone in a crew 2+ has that option. I don't, and it's annoying to do.
@SFL twink I mean, it's not about survivability it's about making it take way less time which means you can loot up faster and be onto the next thing instead of spending ten minutes just to loot
@SFL twink Again... where did I say anything about improving my odds? I find it annoying to have to take the loot off the harpoon. Now I don't have to.
Go spew your rants about Sea of Thieves on some other comment with at least some relevance to what you clearly wanna talk about.
@SFL twink For a third time. I said nothing about it making solo slooping more viable, or increasing survivability. Only that I'll enjoy not taking as long to load my loot.
@SFL twink So why bug me about it? Go bug someone else's comment with some relevance.
I was just talking to a friend the other day about our ideas on what we would do to make the game better and more fun and this update is pretty much everything we talked about! I love to see the developers are so in touch with the game from a players point of view. This is turning out to be (if it hasn't already) a Hello Games type situation! Way to go Rare! This game has evolved into such an awesome experience.
I have never seen developers who listen to the community more than you guys! Thank you guys so much!
Hmm sailing into the shroud respawns your loot in safe waters. People will just throw it overboard while moving through the shroud prior to sinking.
Jesus, do any of you guys remember this game at launch? You had three options: grind with the factions, grind at forts, or steal from those who were doing those.
Supply crates? What were those? And later, the Megalodon was that thing you needed 5 people to summon (thus, friendly co-op was required) so you could get people who never saw it before to squeal like pre-schoolers.
so what's new for the fifth anniversary other than the documentary?
Anyone else here dislike the update to harpoons? I felt like it was a cool moment of teamwork every time I did it with another crewmate.
I've just said this to my partner! It will be useful when solo slooping but when we play together I always liked that it was something he'd come over and have my back to help me unload. We flirt and have little virtual 'dates' in SoT and this was a cute moment.
One QoL update they should implement is adding a stove to the bigger ships. Sloops stays at one, brig has two, and gally has at least 3. With all that space, especially on a gally, it would make sense to add some stations to it.
Pretty good idea, actually. Often times I don't cook food just because it's tedious.
Increased encounter rates of megs and kraken? Woo!
Reminds me of when I first started and fought skeleton ships a kraken and a Meg all at once. Hot damn was that a wild fun mess.
Hearing him say “nice try runners” was such a joy.
This update is insane!

I’ve been playing this game since the first beta and I just wanted to say, thank you guys for always keeping this game fun. Never have I had a game that so reliably kept bringing me back. Every update, small or big, had something new. Never could I complain about how the game played. Thank you guys for the fun on the seas.
