I solo'd a Fort of Fortune once. It took me forever and I got stuck on the final boss. A few other crews rolled up on me intending to steal it, but when they heard that I had solo'd the whole thing, they just helped me defeat the boss and let me have all the loot. It was a wholesome moment, for sure.
That sounds miserable, except for the end part

I helped a series of new players beat a FoF once. I let them have all of the loot, but the also took ALL THE KEGS. They sailed out maybe 2 squares and hit a storm and exploded.
Selling flags to the Reaper reps at outposts is a HUGE improvement. Underrated!

only if they had no loot.. Its really only worth if doing pvp. Not aHUGE improvement by any standard unless you are in the hour glass and in the corner of the map 12 tiles away from the reapers hideout. Overrated

As a solo slooper, this is absolutely wonderful. So many things that will make sailing by your lonesome so much easier and exciting!
Just be aware the thought of "more treasure on the open seas" is also that you are more prone to the vultures circling to pick at your bones - keep a weathered eye on the horizon ;)

This gonna change nothing at all, major problem is that any random brig still come and beat your ass cuz you slow and alone, now there's just no escape, if you see brigantine on the horizon heading your way you can just quit the game, they'll get you and your loot anyway. Enjoy solo playing 😂So many changes LMAO RARE

Passive wildlife, whilst a considerable challenge is the masterpiece stroke that could bring so much life into this world:
- From jellyfish & man'o'wars to electric eels , manta rays, turtles and whales. An update like that could bring new flavors to the kitchen, to the combat, to the shores we so often visit and if done right - the big open sea.
I agree. It would make exploring and fishing more fun. Birds that would come by and drop small items. Dolphins that would swim by your ship or near you if underwater to get a boost. Whales to hook onto or hunt.
Sailing between islands is a decent chunk of the game, but is fairly bland.
8:32 “sunnier sky’s lie ahead” perhaps sutterly talking about the wilds changing into a nicer area. I doubt it’s just referring to what he said seconds before, it’s definitely got more meaning.
A Deep Dive? Rock and Stone!

I pretty much only solo, and have tried to do FoF at-least a few dozen times. I was successful twice, both times being raided by larger crews, and losing the haul. As such, it's pretty much been untouchable content for me. This update will really open up the game for me, and I appreciate it a lot.
I enjoyed taking on the Ashen Lords by myself. I hardly had a difficult time dealing with them, and thought it was fun to fight them one on one. In a way I will miss the challenge, but on the other hand it'll be nice to get the rewards faster instead of a galleon crew sailing up after dealing the last hit on him.
Man thats annoying when you just complete a world event solo to realize there was someone circling the island waiting for you to finish.
Yeah I never found them difficult, they just took too long and we're way too repetitive.

@@vivekstreme1994 I'm not saying they're not difficult, just that after the first fight, I never found them difficult, just time consuming.
solo's a few when they were new, took about 40minutes to an hour, if I recall correctly. What I like about them (compared to Skeleton Lords) is that they are designed in a way that all of their attacks are avoidable, unlike the hitscan of the skelly lords pistols and insta-kill pocket blunders. Once their HP was nerfed the first time I didn't think they are all that spongy, but maybe this scaling thing will make them not die quite so fast to big crews instead? I guess we'll see.
The successful cannon hit music being separated is huge, but we really do also need it for player death music as well if it's not already!
Musical volume is tied to all those sounds so I'm assuming it adjusts player death sound too.
I think the Sea Forts could use a special event, like maybe some phantom ships spawn around one and if you defeat the ships you get a key to a second treasury room long-side the main treasury and the storeroom.
Players have much better ideas than the devs, it's a bit sad.

@@booli8542 Well true to a point the one flaw with Player ideas is they tend not to consider balance, thats why Devs take their time with ideas, even then the devs can still miss some imbalances that come from the new idea which they can later fix down the line.
Also I know about the communities issue with Hitreg to me its not an issue for Im not paying attention to that, if anything the day Hitreg gets fixed someone will break it again.
I think the issue might be that you could just use the cannons on the fort to trivialize the ghost ships sadly

Then an alternate option is if you kill the Captain of the Fort before sinking the ships then the ships will just vanish and you don't get the key from them, Its not like thats not happened before where ships just leave the fight after destroying the lead ship.
Also they could increase the phantom count on that specific fort as so you can't just grind your way to the Captain then dance around him while taking out the ships, or they could just make it so that phantoms will respawn on the Captain wave which prevents just leaving the Captain alone.
You also do have to consider your own ship in this situation, the Phantom ships will be shooting at your ship if you parked it near the fort, if you are sailing around the fort on your ship fighting back then you not only got the Phantom ships shooting you but also the fort shooting you. If you parked your boat far away then your struggle is that you have to deal with the increased phantoms preventing you from focusing on the ships.
They could also just have multiple waves of ships aswell.
Season nine might not have the big "NEW CONTENT" thing, but honestly I am so hyped for this season that's gonna make the sea feel that more alive
It seems to have nice stuff. Personally I'm hyped to try leveling g up the Hunter group and I really wanna get the jellyfish stuff in the plunder pass
Well, they've been pouring content for years, I'm happy they decided to trim stuff for once.
i like the spawn change, its been annoying to spawn at dagger tooth almost every single time i play
I am just getting back into this and my brother and friend are gonna join. Such major improvements made in the last 2 years. I am genuinely excited to jump back in. The harpoon improvement is major! Keep up the great work and delighted to see sea of thieves has really reached its potential!
Really excited about all these updates. I may get back into the game. Always have kept a pulse on the goings on of the game, just haven't been able to muster up the game time. This looks really fun I may not be able to stay away now.
A chest that never stops weeping... well there's a nice surprise to leave on an enemy/skelly ship
I also like that we get a different version of the tall tale sorrow chest thats more available to everyone
When will we get cosmetic loadouts? Cosmetics are such a huge part of the game and I keep looking forward to a day you can save your favorite outfits to swap between. It looks like we get to have ship loadouts since the captaincy update but we still need to be able to do it with our pirates!
They've already said before that cosmetic loadouts are coming.

I’ve been waiting for cosmetic presets too, I’m looking forward to them! But I hope they look at the gaps in available outfits and add some things, such as:
Hoods, cloaks, more Sandles and just straight up shoes, not only boots, more types of rings, necklaces and earrings so my pirate can rep that wealth. Just some thoughts. There’s also no shorts really except for underwear?? Like I need my shorts and black thigh high boots! Or sandles! Or more strappy leather accessories!
This is the most excited I've been for the new cosmetics for a looooong time. Usually I look them over, but they are just so nice this season

The ghost ship fleet is never going to be the same without daddy Flameheart trash talking us.
Absolutely love the look of this update, my only question with the harpoon change is: Does it affect the harpoons at the sovereigns? Will it place that loot behind you as well, stay on the harpoon, or be placed on the lift?

This is all amazing! I would say the only thing this beautiful and exciting pirate simulation is missing is more wildlife, dolphins, whales, more species of fish, sharks. Maybe even coral reef environments!! Also, we need grapple hooks. Nothing says pirates like being able to swing from your sails to another ship. Could also enhance the environment traversal. My two cents that no one asked for 😂. Ps. This is one of the best games I have ever played

Brilliant stuff, one thing that does need adressing is that when sailing between the reapers hideout and the big mystedious island where the battle for the sea of theives event spawns we seem to be hitting an invisible rock right in the middle of the ocean I don't know if anyone has experienced this, but it happens quite alot but other than that very excitig stuff to come in the new season

@roger I get it's a pvp faction, but from a story perspective, it's kinda bare bones. I mean hell, flameheart is supposed to be back, and yet he's nowhere to be seen in the reapers lair. I just meant that they should add more story related things for the reapers. It can still be pvp based, but it can also have things that makes it feel like it's a part of the world

As a solo slooper and a commendation hunter, I'm so glad that some of the more daunting events have become easier to access and complete.
My favorite change is finally not always spawning in the Wilds. I always thought I was just cursed to remain in that forsaken region.
Both QoL and new cosmetics and challenges, can't wait to see this excellent work for myself

Exactly. The dev mindset isn't 100% "how can we make the company more money" it's more " how do we keep our player base engaged" and it's a refreshing sight to see in modern gaming era

Great changes and updates all around, was hoping for something for players who have issues with sea sickness. I have a few friends that would love to play the game that just can't due to it really messing them up. All in all another reason to play though and glad to see things being tuned and adjusted.

You have to give applause to the dev team for this game! They do so much to bring Sea of Thieves to life more and more every day, not only that but creating unique and rewarding ways to players both noobs and legends.

Years later and they finally balanced world events based on crew size
they also took 5 years to realize how annoying was taking everything from the harpoon
So nice of reapers to finally give a job for that skeleton after years of unpaid internship
I'm glad you're adding more for the hunters, i feel like they should have an emissary and quests, like kill a kraken or megalodon, or just catch the right fish, a trophy variety, or kill a shark. it would also almost guarantee that no-one attacks you because you have nothing as a hunter.

Wish I could be more enthusiastic about season 9, but honestly, for at least a month or two, FoF will be a bloodbath full of sweats & tuckers trying to get their commendations done ASAP, there's no way to on-demand it (= with the other world events in play, the spawn rate of FOF will still make it a rare, hotly contested world event), the grind is crazy (30 FoF, and you don't even get a full set) and the rest of s9 is QoL, so I don't see this season holding my attention for three months straight. Streamers will love it, though.

Only thing's missing is to see world events in the map
true, its always hard to pinpoint world events from far away.
Rare is doing great now if we could just get more areas to explore or at least a reason to return to old ones. Shores of gold is an amazing island for all out war on the seas. Have a world event out there where a skeleton spawns and has to be chased down and it drops a key for one of the vaults on the island and it gives you some massive (like 300k) reward if you manage to take it back to your ship and sell it to the lady at the devils roar. Something like that is no fun on an island we’ve all seen millions of times
Main thing I'm a bit disappointed in is they didn't even so much as mention standard fort events. That is by far one of the most useless events to run. The loot is dogcrap. The only reason I run it is to get it out of the way so a different world event can spawn instead of it just despawning on it's own. It's more like an obstacle to better events existing in the world, rather than an event anyone actually wants to do. It needs a refresher, at bare minimum, just more loot so it's worth the time/effort.
@@ForTheOmnissiah I just want reasons to go to the devils roar again and do the devils roar fort. Its the coolest, most badass looking fort in the entire game but it rarely spawns if ever, and the loot, while better than regular forts because its ashen and has a chest of rage, just isn't good enough to be worth going there.

Excited for the polish! As an engineer, my only suggestion is Shrouded % = (Hours played) * 0.001. This would give me a 3.4% chance and I'd take it! 😋

I can only hope Season 10 is a massive milestone update, I'm surprised so many people are just content with qol features being an entire seasons content, but each to their own.
Let’s face it, it’ll probably be called Season X and have some sort of new X Marks voyage.

The last QoL update was right before they started working on the PotC TTs. This was WAY overdue.
I'm fine with it cause it's meant to be a short season relatively and still gives us new toys to play around with as well as kinda a break for the dev team so they can really focus in on season 10. I know they were long but the last three seasons have been packed with new things and changes

About the stinger music slider. Does this also effect the sound you hear when megs and skelly ships are about to appear next to you? Or do you still need the normal music on to hear those?

Delrick being young and fresh, vibes perfectly with him wanting to try new things for the hunters call, maybe even pushing for a hunters call emissary! Bringing new types of fish, new ways to fish, and even a heavy reason to take your fish to a fishing post rather than the sovereigns. This would also be a great time to introduce the sovereigns tax! 5% you could even hint to a force coming who is trying to impose law and order to the seas who are secretly connected to the sovereigns. For season ten!

It's amusing watching the dev's try to take this deep dive into a patch seriously. "We had to try to repair the damage we did to the open world through season 8 because now no one plays the game so We changed some percentage values within our event scripts, fixed some bugs and added a new chest and skull model. You can now kill bosses in less hits". Freaking amazing Patch 000.9

people aren’t doing your events not because they are inaccessible, but because they are recycled and boring. Credit where it’s due though, the QoL stuff is nice. I much prefer it than the normal recycled voyages and events. If the team put their resources into fixing bugs and combat issues, maybe the now-dead experienced player base would consider picking the game back up. i know i would.

This update is gonna be totally sick! I like it! My favorite part is that in areas of intense action, players may find themselves firing shots or landing strikes that do not cause damage to their targets. While small improvements continue to be delivered during our regular updates, we are continuing to investigate and identify further improvements to the player combat experience.

I have 500 hours in sot and only once completed fof - with crew, tried solo but it's to much time consuming and even if you manage to go half way someone comes and ruins everything i sail like 95%time solo and managed to do almost everything alone, but this fof was something i was not searching i sea horizon , until now i guess
A major quality of life change I would like is the ability to not worry about pvpers when I just want to do some tall tales with my friends for a few hours. Now I'm not saying to remove pvp altogether as I know it's a main part of the game and I appreciate that and what it brings to the game. Nothing is more frustrating when all 4 of us have limited time to play together and we just picked up a key for a tall tale and now we get sunk and have to do it all again or wait until we can all get on again for another session. Maybe have a mode for pve where you get less gold and rep maybe to compensate?
You've been given checkpoints, you just need to run this tall tale on the table and you'll be given an item right away
Personally, I load into the Pirate Life server to do solo stuff or tall tales. Its a whole server of people who are almost all looking for the same thing: peace lol
They know there's a large number of people who just want to play The tall tales and those players are just lured to the game for the pvpers to abuse. The game was designed with that in mind so it probably will never change.

I want to send my bird out with an "alliance request form".
This will allow me to meet folk on the server without running into them straight away.
Of course the chances of treachery are tremendous and pvp could still be involved.
This also means if you see an alliance bird flying through the sky and you are sharp with your shooting the message can be prevented from being delivered in the first place.
Naturally, commendations and trinkets would be tied to encourage all types of play.

No we need anticheat when they believe its ready, otherwise you get an anticheat that counts glitches as cheating and then a major chunk of the fandom is axed
@@mistressofdreams6031 Friend, read about anti-cheats and ways to implement them. How will glitches and bugs in the game be considered cheats if cheating is the use of third-party software to bypass game mechanics?

@@mistressofdreams6031 Third-party software and in-game bugs are completely different things..So that you have an understanding, look, a bug in the game is a small error in the game code (in simple terms) and the bug in the game is usually in a certain place. Cheat software is not associated with these bugs, it can create them on request anywhere you want. + there are cheaters using vision through walls, or auto-aiming..there are no such bugs in the game.. I advise you to understand the issue in more detail..you don't know what you're talking about..no hate to you man.
