- Time has a way of getting away from us all. 30 years ago this month I published my book, RAMBLING MIND, images of Mississippi, with the backing and support of the VERSO GALLERY to which I remain greatly indebted for their confidence, support and friendship.
The original project was produced and published in black & white, but after publication I began hand tinting many of the original images using the old color sets that were popular in Japan at the onset of photography in the 1800's. Unfortunately these color sets contained some pretty toxic chemicals and were banned from sale after the Aim Shinrikyo cult attack on the subway system with Sarin in 1995. So I ended up abandoning the hand color project until our confinement during what I call the "Lost Years of COVID."
Many of the images in this project-video were hand colored by me between 2020 and 2023 when I,like so many other artist and musicians, lost most of my studio recording work, tours and live shows.
From here, we are still recovering from all that came between us during that time of fear and darkness...but from here, the sun is shining on my back door and I see no need for a troubling mind on such a nice day to ramble.
Here's to celebrating what we can an d when we can as we strive to keep Life in the Living of it.

Steve - i was just looking through the book. it was fantastics when i got it form you - and its fantastic now. i did not expect or see the colonization coming. normally it's not the best idea. but i have to say - they are stunning!! thanks for sharing. so many gems here.
