I made a baby blanket using this stitch almost 30 years ago. It was called "kittens on a fence" back then. I was asked to bring my baby items I'd made to show an 80 year old woman, and that was one of the pieces. Turns out the woman thought I was *giving* it all away to her! Well, I didn't have the heart to tell her no, and she ended up with a treasure of items to give to her great grand kids. It took a long time to find the pattern again after multiple moves. I did lose another pattern that I've never been able to find again. Glad to see these kitties back in favor again. Also glad to see you are giving the kitties a 4-puff instead of a 2-puff I've seen recently. Kitties need fluffy puffy paws.
It took me a minute, but I finally found the “kittens on a fence”. LOL. It is a beautiful pattern that I’m looking forward to making.

I made a baby blanket from this stitch about 13 years ago. Talked to the Mom recently and she said it's still her daughter's favorite blanket
@Pat Damario For the baby blanket I used pink and white Bernat Baby yarn. May have used a variegated also, It was so long ago I forget lol

Another poster here said that 30 years ago it was known as "Kittens On A Fence"! Well, here I am, been crocheting over 40 years, and never heard about such a Meow-velous stitch! 😊

My friend's parents passed away in 2016. Her mom was a crocheter and had made this in black, white, and gray and she always thought it looked like a cat printer that ran out of ink. When helping her and her sisters go through the things at the house the following year, she had mentioned always wanting something with this stitch, so I proceeded to find a tutorial on here and made her a two tones of purple scarf oriented the other way. After that, she dubbed me the crochet ninja, because I had only been crocheting a few months at the time, and brought her a scarf the next day 😂 This is why the cat stitch (she had called it cat on a fence) will always have fond memories besides the fact that I am a "crazy" cat lady 🙂 There are a few different variations floating around, and I wanted to see how YOU did it. That and rainbow is my favorite color 😉 Thank you for sharing with us Crystal!

I love this stitch, you made it look so easy!!! I have early onset Dementia, so I have forgotten so many stitches, and I have not crochetted (sp), in 28 years!!!! Plus I have old yarns that old, too. I recently did make an afghan for a relative and I used a Bernat Teal cake. BOY it was so heavy when I finished, I couldn't pick it up, so I had my daughter help me. BUT I di dhave wonky sides, ect. BUT I am using my old nearly 30 year old yarns, I do not remember my old stitches tho and this is so maddening! I am going to use just 2 colors and try this. I thank you for this video!!! I will take a pic of this when or if I get it right. I have terminal heart and lung disease, so I hope I get this right!!! hehehe~~~~srsly!!!! BUT I do like the bigger 3 or 4 size yarns and needles they use now a says!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I have a very old book with this stitch in it for a blanket called Kittens. It was done in Grey, black and white. I always thought this was a pretty stitch. Thank you for sharing.

I made a baby blanket in this pattern last year for my niece's friend. I have a sweet neighbor who will be 85 this summer and has macular degeneration. She also loves animals. She has 5 dogs and 3 cats. I showed her my cat baby blanket just to see if she could spot the cats with her limited vision. She could, so I made her a throw for Christmas. Every time I see her she tells me that it's the prettiest thing shes ever seen! Now she needs a shawl in that pattern.

I have made baby, toddler and twin bed blankets out of this. Alternating the cats between Latte Cakes and regular yarn makes for fuzzy kittens.

A different channel popped up in my suggestion feed for this stitch. I love cats, so I was super excited. After 3 days of frustration, I googled easy cat stitch, and this video was the first suggestion. I'm taking a break, but I'm about to start row 7, and I only had to start over one time for miscounted stitches!

I made 2 scarves and a wallet with this pattern. I know a lot of cat lovers. One woman just lost her cat and she cried when the cat scarf was given to her as a Christmas gift. I was so happy that she liked it.

That is beautiful my favorite animal is a cat I lost my baby about 3 yrs ago and im just now thinking of getting another one when I hurt from my health issues my baby knew and would lay on my belly which the pressure helped but his purring was what relaxed me so much he weighed about 45 lbs but so loving and he loved eating my yogurt with me ...I know no kitty will replace him but I believe I'm ready I want 2 for companionship

I made this in black and pink jazzy red heart and it came out perfect. Then while looking through some older blankets my elderly mother made years ago I found an baby blanket in the same stitch. Love it.

I’ve been crocheting 50+ years and still do simple projects, especially if I’m in need of quick gifts. You have imagination, and that is very important fir a crocheter!! You’ll pick up more n more new stitches and them you won’t consider yourself a beginner!! lol

Love your colors. I made one of this with the kitten's back in the 1980 I only used 3 colors brown, medium brown and gold.in a afghan. I will have to made a another on you make it a lot easier the pattern I used in the book.Thanks for.
