    You should have shot the CCI 1st at both distance and shot atleast 20 rounds of the Center X before shooting groups. My experience with my Savage Mark II and other rimfire rifles is that the difference in lube will make them shoot a little wonky until the barrel is seasoned with the new lube. Lapua/SK is an oily lube where CCI is a waxy lube.

      Yep, I ended up doing another video later with this application, keeping track of each grouping every 5 rounds. The video is post on my page and I believe the best grouping was around 3/4”. Thanks for the comment.

    The trigger control was not as deliberate as necessary for shooting excellent groups. Also, the bolt handle jerked upon firing pin drop, indicating a problem with consistent ignition. Also, a bipod is not as accurate to shoot groups as having front and rear bags, due to slight inconsistencies.

      True. But it all works for me!
      I have found that the gun shoots best with SK Longe Range Match. The best 100 yard group I was able to produce so far is .81” (13/16). I don’t shoot bench matches but am thinking of getting into it.
      Do you mind me asking what ammo you shoot?
      I’v been looking for new rounds to continue to compare and see what shoots best for the gun.

      @@ONeillOutdoors My best BR rifle liked RWS R50, but if you're really into shooting benchrest, you sample several LOT#s and buy as much as you can afford of the one that shoots best in your rifle. The last time I did that, none of the best three lots were available three days or so later. I decided it was about time to get out of the game!!!

    As others have said shooting different brands back to back without clearing out the lubricant from the previous brand doesn't tell you much. I must have missed any notations on wind conditions. It looks like both brands are stringing from 11 o'clock to 5 o'clock telling me the barrel harmonics are not matched to either brand. The way that rifle rocks on that bipod I'm impressed he could get close to groups like that. Who knows what either brand would do with a properly tuned barrel.

      Best group so far (@ 100yds) out of the factory rifle is 13/16 from Sk Long Range Match!

    How to tighten up that MOA: I have shot SK 22lr for 5 years (currently SK Long Range) with consistent sub MOA results. I have shot Lapua Center X also with the same results as with the SK. The ONLY way that I have improved upon the MOA of the aforementioned brands is by using a Neil Waltz 22lr resizing die. The tool ensures a consistent 0.225 in. diameter driving ring for 360 degrees. I relate the positive effect of the die to a good rile crown; a damaged crown will open up the MOA. An uneven driving ring will accomplish the same effect as a damaged crown. I shoot consistent 100 yd. sub -MOA's (no wind).

    • @rwall1983
      @rwall1983 2 роки тому

      Exactly, the the Waltz die works. After resizing more than 15k rds & using a chronograph to obtain the FPS . Group sizes decrease because the SD / ES are moved into the single digit numbers. Good crimping size = consistent case pressure.= small ES. To test ammo you need to know the FPS ES & SD, if you don't know you are wasting time & money. You must know the environmental and what the barrel dynamics to see how much of the ammo is out of tolerance. The better brands of ammo cost more because more quality control measurements are used to sort out the out of spec rounds. More expensive ammo doesn't mean small groups. Bad shooting technique is 50% of the problem. Don't blame the ammo. Buy a top tier custom rile. like a Vudoo or Rim X and be proud of your score. Most production rifles are cheap because they don't use good parts and suffer from low QC, they will never be top tier shooter. Pay to play.this is not a cheap hobby.

    I switched to Lapua Center-X recently in my RPR .22LR and only afterwards saw this video. I can definitely confirm it is a whole level different from the CCI stuff for competition (still like CCI for plinking). Go with Center-X, you won't regret it (apart from the price, but then it is only .22LR). Good video man.

    Lapua ammo seems to be something akin a supernatural ghost.

  • @iggyortful
    @iggyortful 4 роки тому +2

    We use Lapua Center X for Smallbore F Class and it's the Cat's Meow.
    However, did you clean the barrel between ammo swaps?
    Different companies use different lubricants and mixing ammo without cleaning your barrel will impact your accuracy.
    If you reshoot the Lapua Center X the ground would tighten a bit more.
    Good luck and many Xs in your future.

    In any comparison like this, you need to eliminate all possible variables other than the ammunition. Shooting two10-shot groups with a bipod and bag is a measurement of your marksmanship.....and the ammo.....and is not particularly reliable. Five 10-shot groups would be better. A vise bench rest would be best.

    Your 35 yard groups were respectable, not your 100. Scope parallax problem? The disparity points at something other than hardware quality.

    • @Ming_USA
      @Ming_USA 4 роки тому

      Agreed. The grouping at 100 is not what I expected from this rifle. I own a Savage B22 .22LR (without stock upgrade or anything). Just came back last week from a range. I shot CCI SV at 100, and several times I got 4 or 5 shots in a row with their holes touching each other. I also have a CZ 455 American which basically performs the same with CCI SV at 100.

      @@michaelbritain5546 Match ammo is weird in the sense that you are paying for consistency, not accuracy. You are paying for cartridges that are exact in dimension from round to round. Whether your rifle likes those exact dimensions is hard to say. But i have 22 rifles that just love the bulk cheap stuff and shoot best with a dirty fouled out barrel. And i have other rifles that require top tier ammo for best accuracy as well as cleaning every few hundred rounds for best accuracy. All my 22 rifles have been individualistic in that sense. Personally, my rifles that shoot the cheap stuff well are usually what i shoot most often.
