Fantastic information as always❤ I would add some more ideas. Glazed ceramic pots dry out slower than plastic pots. Before using terracotta, it helps to drench it in water, because the pot absorbs water. Bigger size pots retain more water, before I leave I plant everything in bigger containers into moistened soil.
Really useful video! 👍 Can I add something? I take my plants in small pots into the apartment. It is not that hot than outside, so it give them chance to survive. Because outside small pots can't keep moisture for long period even in shade with right soil mix and mulch.

You are very right about keeping it simple for the house sitter. I live in Texas, but my grandparents live in Lyon. I visit them most years and go visit other EU cities. Normally 2 - 3 weeks. I always just leave a note on the fridge with color code. Indoor plants have red sticker, olives and figs have green and the rest have yellow. Red and green sticker water on Fridays, yellow water Mon, Weds, Frid. I used to try and leave special instructions and it never worked out and made me and the sitter feel bad for something going wrong, not worth it.
Thank you for the advice. In the UK it has become challenging as we tend to get sudden hot days which are prolonged and they dry out pots really fast. Acers suffer particularly. I'll consider my potting mix, I do use mulch to stop drying. Right now, we have excessive rain and its been a week or so of persistent rain. I saw your Coffee link just now, I hope you enjoy, and and also enjoy your holiday.

Merci pr les tips! Qu'est ce que tu appelles du "garden soil"? Merci😊
En France c'est vendu en sacs sous le nom de "terre végétale" ou "terre de jardin" 🙂
