- Long video short, the Sportster S offers you the best bang for your buck, with rider tech, performance and decent suspension (better than a Softail). You have riding modes and a mini-infotainment system. Along with all of that, you get a modern liquid cooled engine, on a new sturdy light frame (IT WEIGHS 500LBS!). The Sportster S handles well, but lacks the aftermarket support you'll find on a Street Bob.
The Street Bob has the same air-cooled push rod design from the early days of Harley-Davidson. Only major differences are the heads with 8 valves, reason why they call it M8. Harley also decided to include an oil cooler for once with the non-touring frames. You buy this bike for its roots, sound and feel. You don't get rider tech, touch display, performance, or suspension. Just the raw feel of a Harley. You also get a ton of aftermarket support, you can truly customize the bike to what you need out of it.
You want performance with technology, get the Sportster S, but you could find a similar bike with a lower price tag. Thanks for watching vatos, ride safe.

$15k??? Not around here they’re not. More like $17-$18k.
Honestly, the Sportster S is probably the better motorcycle all around. I would rather have that street Bob for looks, but for performance and fun factor, the Sportster S is the way to go. Plus you get all that tech and your nice, expensive, engine won’t be overheating. But for style sake, I’d stick with the SB. I like the grey one.
The dealer fees and mark ups are just brutal right now, I agree. I agree with you 100%, I wish Harley incorporated the riding modes like Indian does with its new 116 lineup. Sport mode on a Dark Horse is nuts. The Sportster S has the performance, suspension, and handling. You'll need to drop around $10k+ on the M8 for to handle and ride like the Sportster S.

Riding modes, rider assists, suspension , performance and a sturdy new frame for $15k, yep that’s good…. For a Harley price point, but you could get all of that from a Rebel 1000 at $10k.

Street Bob for style, Sporster S for everything else.
I wish the softails had riding modes, like the Indian Motorcycles.
I would pick the street bob all day over the sportster s. I'm all about looks and comfort.
I would take the fit and finish of the Street Bob over the plastic bikes. The new sportsters may have a good engine, but the rest of the bike is over priced plastic.
