95 % of the actress can't do what she does, if she was American she would have won all the awards already
Best actress is a EXTREMELY white oscar category. I think they will nominate her because it was a great performance and to buck the trend of 90% white female oscar winners in the last 20 years. Best Actor is more diverse in nominations and winners. For Best Actress there is no diversity and it tends to be the same specific people again and again.

Michelle Yeoh has come a long way to gain such immense international recognition. When she first started her career, many thought she would just be a one trick pony - only as a martial arts actress and nothing more. But over the years, she has proven the critics wrong and I think the groundbreaking moment was she acted in Memoirs of the Geisha which gave her the opportunity to showcase the different side of her. And it works. Since then, she have more dramatic roles than martial arts. Of course, Crazy Rich Asian catapulted her acting ability even more. For those who didn't know, Michelle Yeoh was also former Miss Malaysia. She won the title in 1983.
And she was probably one of the most beautiful James Bond girls too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 👍
Geisha was not really well received, certainly not in Asia. She played Soong Ai-ling in 1997 and received a HK film award nomination for that though.

Years ago when I was in an ad agency, we pitched on a project designed to help Asian elderly women in the States get counselling help. It turns out that at the time we heard of the project they have the highest depression rate compared to other Asian age groups. I think Michelle's movie honors them. It's a great zany, trippy movie btw.

In 2018 I was in the Provinces within the U.K. were the Guess speaker: A Mr. Tim Luard; (Related to a Former Governor Of H.K.);
Still gave a speech about the benefits of Colonialism in Hong Kong and that the "Locals/ Natives";
were NOT allowed to have Skyscrapers Taller than that of the: "British" Elite Domiciles, on Top of Victoria Peak. Etc. (The Provincial Englanders; Lapped-it-up! )

Up until 2013; I worked in a Major Airport within the U.K.' On the TV-Screens; Landside there was this "Propaganda" Snippet; that showed; as-if-they-actually-knew!
That E. Asian Hospitals were infested with Bugs and Cockroaches and were somehow sub-standard.....
I asked my Line-Manager and many of my Co-Workers have they actually been to a Far-Eastern Nation.....(You can guess the answer......!!!)
Most; Anglo-Saxon, Ppl; in the U.K. have never been further East than Turkey.......!!!!
And we R in the 3rd Decade of the 21St Century....!!

I ended up going to see this as a second choice to the Lost City. Now I don't know how I'm going to be able to see another movie again without comparing it to this. Everything Everywhere All at Once was so amazing. It is such a wild, hilarious, heart warming ride. Everyone is so perfectly cast, and it is so well-made. With how dystopian and down everything in the world has been lately, movies like this are the cure. If you like positive films and absurdist humour, you will love this movie.
I saw both. The only good parts in The Lost City were Brad Pitt's and Daniel Radcliffe's scenes, and one car scene had me laughing hard. Everything...Once was by far the better choice. It was entertaining from beginning to end. And the characters exuded a genuine love for each other. I loved it.

The movie is incredible. It’s wild, outrageous, unlike anything else and yet, profoundly heartwarming. The cast is great; Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, Jamie Lee Curtis, they’re wonderful. Ke Huy Quan gave my favorite of the film’s performances. He moved me to tears, he was so genuinely sweet.
Michelle started to talk about Ke Huy Quan but Joy Behar cut her off. I really wanted to know
what else she was going to say.
The daniels are freaking geniuses
Ke Huy Quan deserves an Oscar for his performance, he was phenomenal. I don't think the movie could've worked without him. He was the heart of the film.
SPOILER ALERT:
I also resonated the most with Joy, bc when I wasn't crying over CEO Waymond's monologue to "Martial Arts Star" Evelyn, or OG Waymond's pleading to the Alpha gang who were attacking OG Evelyn, I was crying over Bagel Joy's wish for self-obliteration. I also teared at OG Joy when she drove off (after OG Evelyn refused to acknowledge her & her girlfriend to OG Gong Gong). I sputtered when OG Joy said she was tired and wanted her mom to let go.

I have ADHD-PI & SCT, so I'm literally and figuratively exhausted with my existence. As a Palestinian-Venezuelan and as a former war civilian, I just want to be free.
Suicide is just a trap, since there's no guarantee of relief in the afterlife. I don't want to be stuck in the infinite stagnancy of Heaven nor do I find the "adventure" of Eternal Reincarnation appealing. I just want to disappear into oblivion, but the Law of Thermodynamics makes it impossible, bc energy cannot be destroyed. My only grief with the movie is that Joy didn't stay in the Bagel. I really wanted her to. But not even in fiction are we ever allowed to destroy ourselves. I wish the directors had been brave enough.

I've been big fan of Michelle Yeoh ever since she first appeared in the famous HK action flicks in the 90s and she continues to prove without a doubt to be one of the most genuine, humble and brilliant stars, and the most badass woman fighter on screen. I love love love Everything, Everywhere. This is the movie where she really shines. So happy for her.

I did not watch any preview of this movie. My friend bought the ticket and it was sooooooooooooooooo surprised. So funny, so touching... it was just great.
The ever graceful and stunning Ms Yeoh. Such a presence from when she entered the room, then having to show respect by bowing to the panellists and audience, I thought it was the most humbling gesture shown by any guests to the show. This was such a heartwarming and utter delightful segment to watch.
I’ve never cried from watching a movie except for this one. This film is incredible.

I recently watched Shang Chi as well - it took me a while, I thought it was going to be very generic and bad, but it ended up being reaaaally good. Really glad to see her doing movies like this.

I was stuck by Michelle Yeoh's performance way back then and have enjoyed her performances ever since. She has a dignity to her bearing but you can tell she has a sense of humor and fun, too. ^_^ I'm so glad I was able to see her in _Everything Everywhere All at Once_ . It's a once in a lifetime role for anybody, but I can't think of anybody but her in it. ^_^

I love Michelle Yeoh since the 90s when I was a kid seen her in SuperCop 2 with Jackie Chan. Love her in Crounching Tiger. Crazy Rich Asians and Shang Chi. You can also see her in Star Trek Discovery.
I am going to watch the Oscars this year, just for Michelle Yeoh. And I will be rooting and praying for her to win the Oscar for Best Actress because she deserves it. She was great in it and she is a class act, too. She deserves the recognition, after so many years in the film making business.
I've read somewhere that the lead role was originally for Jacky Chan but he was busy at the time so they went for Michelle Yeoh. I don't think Jacky would have been as good as Michelle, and I love Jacky Chan. Michelle should be nominated for an Oscar for her role. She was absolutely briljant!

Let's remember Anna May Wong, the first Asian American female actress in American film. She is such an amazing actress, she outshined them all, but due to racism she never got the roles she deserved. Then she left for Europe, and was given great roles such as Shanghai Express with Marlene Dietrich, where critics said her performance stole the show. I think we are cheating the audience of great film performances by not casting talent according to their actual talent, but by their looks.
Just saw this movie. WOW~! please do yourselves a favor and go watch it. She really made this movie hers and like you've never seen her before. It really is all the genres she mentioned. She bettah get that oscar nom next year.

I'm a 60 yo Asian woman. She's right that there are people that do not even see you.
Ms. Michelle Yeoh is from Malaysia as I am. Even though I am not Chinese (a Malay, to be more specific), her attitude is typical of all Malaysians (Malay, Chinese, Indian, etc). Once we become immigrants in a much bigger country like the USA that I am in or the UK where she resides, we tell and force ourselves to work harder knowing that without the typical entitlement that we get and expect in our own country, we would not survive unless we worked really hard. Humility is key as well and you can see and feel that in Ms. Yeoh's voice and work. If you are reading this, Ms. Michelle Yeoh, I wish you "terus berjaya" (continue to succeed)! ❤️
