I bought my pro sign kit from a craft fair for $30. The guy demonstrating the jig strongly recommended securing the workpiece to the workbench with either screws, clamps or double-sided tape. Then he screwed the jig to the workpiece. It's really vital that nothing moves during the routing process. Made a number of signs now and the jig does a very neat job, very handy piece of kit.

Does this require a “plunge” router. I have a Ryobi trim router. With the provided base plate and bushing attached the router bit is too short.

This does not require a plunge router, but most users prefer one.

Can the sign maker be used with a table router?

The SignCrafter and SignMakerPro can only be used with plunge routers or fixed base routers.

my base plate does not fit my Makita Router DRT50ZJX3 - It is a palm router but with the attachment there are no screw holes to atatch the base plate
