The font does seem a bit utilitarian. But it's not supposed to be fancy. It's good to see some real world experience because I'm often being tempted by similar things.
Great review video showing what you get in the box, how it works and what it actually does - you made a very nice job of the lettering. Good to see you back in the workshop.

Nice kit there, Dave. I saw that on the Rutlands sales email the other day. Good to see it in action! As you said, I was holding back too, from buying it because of that font, but if it grows on us, then great!

Only done some signs for my grandchildren so far, but finding it a great kit and using the supplied base is the way to go. I’ve since bought the smaller letters, cutters & guide bush, but not got around to using those yet.
Great to see you back in the workshop and making videos again sign looks good it's a shame rockler don't have a similar system as i prefer the state park font but this looks easier to set up and use still available from Rutlands for £39.99

I wish you could buy different fonts. Milescraft have missed an opportunity there i reckon. I bought the rutland kit as the font is much better. Not arrived yet. So not tried it. Yiu actually make that font look half decent. There advertising pics make it look awful. Hence why I didn't buy. The rail system however looks excellent. Good straight forward video. I will be subscribing. Cheers.

Which kit do you think is better? This one or the Rockler one? Bear’s Workshop UK leant me one of these to try. I’ve had it months and not got around to using it yet. I found the Rockler one so bad, it’s put me off signwriting.
This set is way better. Best to use the base plate provided not the plunge base i used. Because this kit raises the letters off the work piece its easier to guide the router. Just remember to stop the router before lifting it from the template or you risk damaging the letters. Give it a go mate, try on a scrap board
Rutlands had a weekend price drop. Think its back at the usual price now. If you sign up with them you get emails when they have flash deals. Keep an eye open as its the 2nd time they've dropped the price recently on this kit.

Yeah i wasnt too keen on the font but i think its growing on me. For £40 its not too shabby.
I don't like the font, I'm tempted to create my own templates

I bought one about 20 years ago. I used it once then packed it away. Didn’t like it at all. I think I still have it, in my storage unit somewhere!

Yeah it works well mate, i wouldnt pay £70 but for £40 its not bad.
