This is cool that y'all's doing this love it.. I've got a few of these trucks and I put a computer from a automatic in a manual and has worked for over 15 years. Hi Sarah, I’m really not sure if you’ll even see this reply or not but I have a 1994 manual ranger and when I bought it its always had an issue with the ecm where it just will not start after driving/turning the ignition too many times in a day and I’ve tried ordering a new ecm and it made it run awful and so I had to put the old one back in, when I opened up the old ecm when I had it out I took some pictures but nothing appeared to have a bad connection or no capacitors leaking, I’m really not sure what it could be and I have no clue how I could find a perfectly working ecm that’s exactly for my Ranger stx 6cyl 4.0 manual, seeing your comment on this video and watching your ranger videos you made made me assume that you had a similar problem with your ecm, I was wondering if you have any input you could help me with? Thank you in advance if you do end up finding this
@@russbow05Get the number off your ecm. For instance, for my 1990 2.9LV6 ford with overdrive automatic, the factory installed a F0TF-12A650-BGA AOU engine control module. I recently purchased a used spare for my vehicle and replaced the three failure-prone electrolytic capacitors inside and swapped it for the original. It's possible your vehicle was fitted with some incorrect part or parts to begin with, production mistakes do happen.

the calibration code may also define if it needs a push-start or tfi ignition module in the years of crossover. the PIP signal and what goes to the ecm or from it. But, the wiring pinout is NOT The same and the pcm can very well nade a module and coil or the module sends something to the PCM on the wrong pin, and its also without the resistor that the other system has. SOOOOOOO You need to get a proper TFI or Push start module (black vs grey) and also MATCH to your PCM calibration on the truck and make sure it matches the drive train, THEN any updated cals from Ford
also a c6 computer wont do very well in e40od since brake light circuitry is different and the pcm is not worried about shift points... also cruise being on the system affects how it reacts to certain inputs and in a c6, the manual tv valve controls line pressure and it controls parameters TO influence line pressure through different means than where it can use the epc or in the 4r whatever, its got more than e4od. point is match your year range usually 91-93, 94-95, 96, 96-97(F250 HD only), emissions commie or states, drive train in its entirety, chassis similarity like no C&C in a step side , air density / maf, vin cut off in relation to tsbs, some may cut off really weird spots even same year trucks, and then sure you can if its similar. the problem with eec iv is how universal the base components are which is why its also so cool and desireable. The things that might mean BIG from one to anoter arent able to be self-diagnosed with regards to components, its not meant to discriminate severely and its also capable of seeming fine when its costly damaging. the data reading is low, and its not tracking long term trends quite like they do now, etc. So sure you may have good AFR but you forgot your new pcm wasnt at all able to handle Secondary air, so now your CATS arent doing their job and they gonna burn out. smooth. or your bad throttle cable does not move the throttle enough for the outdated cals to notice the rapidly wiping signal from TP sensor and 1 sensor wears out 2 you have fuel enrichment happening as intended yes but now your truck is having a hell of a time handling shifts well, keeping temps low from TCC unlocks, and pass emissions from fuel trims up and down. get the right pcm and get it updated ford didnt put calibration codes out there for fun or because they like stickers(which they do indeed like stickers)
@@CT_Taylor Thank you for what you wrote that was interesting and it did helpyes I do have the wrong computer in and other things probably aren't up to snuff because parts have went out so often but with a factory matched computer put in it we'll still fry those components

SOOOOOOO
You need to get a proper TFI or Push start module (black vs grey) and also MATCH to your PCM calibration on the truck and make sure it matches the drive train, THEN any updated cals from Ford
also a c6 computer wont do very well in e40od since brake light circuitry is different and the pcm is not worried about shift points... also cruise being on the system affects how it reacts to certain inputs and in a c6, the manual tv valve controls line pressure and it controls parameters TO influence line pressure through different means than where it can use the epc or in the 4r whatever, its got more than e4od.
point is match your year range usually 91-93, 94-95, 96, 96-97(F250 HD only), emissions commie or states, drive train in its entirety, chassis similarity like no C&C in a step side , air density / maf, vin cut off in relation to tsbs, some may cut off really weird spots even same year trucks, and then sure you can if its similar. the problem with eec iv is how universal the base components are which is why its also so cool and desireable. The things that might mean BIG from one to anoter arent able to be self-diagnosed with regards to components, its not meant to discriminate severely and its also capable of seeming fine when its costly damaging. the data reading is low, and its not tracking long term trends quite like they do now, etc. So sure you may have good AFR but you forgot your new pcm wasnt at all able to handle Secondary air, so now your CATS arent doing their job and they gonna burn out. smooth. or your bad throttle cable does not move the throttle enough for the outdated cals to notice the rapidly wiping signal from TP sensor and 1 sensor wears out 2 you have fuel enrichment happening as intended yes but now your truck is having a hell of a time handling shifts well, keeping temps low from TCC unlocks, and pass emissions from fuel trims up and down.
get the right pcm and get it updated
ford didnt put calibration codes out there for fun or because they like stickers(which they do indeed like stickers)
@@CT_Taylor Thank you for what you wrote that was interesting and it did helpyes I do have the wrong computer in and other things probably aren't up to snuff because parts have went out so often but with a factory matched computer put in it we'll still fry those components
@@CT_Taylor you are absolutely right.... Lol could go without the grilling at the end.... Lol
Man this a constant problem with a matched ecm. U get to the point where I LOL CAN'T spend anymore $$$ on these???? My question is how, what, where's, a place I could look at to see the problem. Or something like a process to do to make this dam thing stop THIS 🤦🤦🤦🤦🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞 anyone...
ASK me some questions about the situation and truck
