M.2 2280 cooler Necessary? No, the drives throttle their speed to prevent overheating but at the cost of performance.
High End performance M.2 drives with high storage capacity:
These coolers would be used to maintain top read and write performance at all times for video rendering (large file write and reads) and large game installs or or other storage read / write operations.
Entry level M.2 drives and lower capacity:
These low performance drives run cool. All M.2 NAND flash memory has a certain happy temp for max performance at around 40C.
Me or anyone else likely won't notice a difference for normal everyday stuff like watching videos, surfing the internet downloading a file online.
Hello sorry for the rampage question but I watched your video about memory timing I am use dram calculator for Ryzen. I have an intel cpu but the problem is it’s not showing my ram timing they are are 0 with a few at 1? But I’m msi bios showing like 19 25 25 48 and the rest is auto help please 🙏
@@connerdave6397 I have 3 videos but the 2 older ones have the newer video in the description... Either way if the dram calculator has blanks for Intel timings... thank you for letting me know cause I didn't have an Intel system to test. You can use CPU-Z also known as CPUID. If you write me on Facebook or Discord or email me I can send you a link. UA-cam gave me a warning once for posting an external link for someone in comments.
@@sparketechsorry I read that wrong lol how do I find your fb I can’t seem to find it

I just got the new Crucial T705 PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, so I ordered both heatsinks to try out the difference between them and the motherboard heat spreader.
Danke
Nice! Can the top plate be removed? Seems like it would cool better without it
I don't see any way to remove the top other than by force. Please don't obsess over cooler temps than this provides. Why? Because you WANT M.2 SSD's to be warm, yes you read that correct. If you over cool the SSD it runs slower just like I mentioned in my pinned comments. Any cooler than 40C the NAND memory is written to slower. The concern for throttle is when temps are still getting over 60c, most thermal throttling happens at 70c depending on what is spec of course. If your M.2 is between 40 idle and 60C under load it is running at it's best at all times.
It's odd I know, CPU, GPU and most stuff is cooler the better. The controller silicon of the m.2 is fine to be super cooler but that NAND flash memory is different.
This is so interesting and amazing !😊
Thank you, having the extra camera location really adds some fun to this process
Cool video.
Is this cooler suport double sided nvme?
No issues with my double sided Seagate firecuda 4TB M.2
Can i use this in VRM?
Sorry I don't understand your question... VRM is a voltage regulation module. I have no clue how these would attach to a VRM unless listed for the purpose, I could force these to work but I wouldn't trust Thermal adhesive or thermal adhesive strips to hold in the long term. I saw someone online used the m.2 cooler for VRM but he never shows it hold once he bumps his case or if it holds for longer than one day.
MG Chemicals 8349TFM Thermally Conductive Epoxy could work much more effectively than any form of tape (I purchased this)... You would have to apply some weight like 1 lbs to keep good contact while epoxy dries (24 hours I think was cure time) and i would after let the computer run for at least 4 hours or more before tipping the case back up right to ensure fully cured and heat activated with VRM temp.
