+Steven Santizo The memory remains and carpe diem baby :)
thanks for linking the mop's MOFO part made my day :D
It's a pity that they don't play Ain't My Bitch live anymore.
It's such a great song in a live setting.
I also wish that they'd go back to playing King Nothing this way (with a jam during the breakdown) because it just makes it that much more enjoyable to listen too.
Last time they performed “Ain’t My Bitch” was April 17th 1998 in Wellington, New Zealand during Poor ReTouring Me Tour
45:35 when the acid kicks in
metalforever12345 I couldn't stop laughing xD
LOL
I was in the front row right in the middle of the stage for this. One of the best moments of my life!
No fuckin cell phones !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it when James gets in the Zone for that Solo build up in Nothing Else Matters - so fuckn powerful
Kreator
I just heard Hetfield on Joe Rogan this week. It's odd to think about what he was experiencing during this time in his life -- addiction, wife throwing him out of the house, and sometimes total meltdown on his part. He said that too many times the playing of the music was secondary to the various perks of the road -- women, restaurants, strip bars, drugs, alcohol. Now he says he relishes the time on stage.
He sounded a hell of a lot more grounded as a person. That can be bad for the art, but when I listen to Hardwired, I think, yeah I'm glad he got sober. There is no way we would have Death Magnetic or Hardwired if Hetfield kept going down that road. NO way. An addicted rock star with family meltdown is not good for the art. Not in the 40s and 50s.
he actually is on record saying he was sober for a year around this time period. His personal struggle were more '99/'00 right before rehab according to whats out there to read.
And he really loves bees for some reason now. Lol
It's 2020 now. What would you say? Because I'd say we can't judge and don't know shit.
QQ F1
Totally agree with you.
Damn, I miss Jason. His backing vocals were really amazing. Especially the vocal harmonies with James. And he could project. Hearing Rob or Kirk attempt backing vocals is just so sad.
Omg yes I especially miss how James and Jason sounded in the chorus of Nothing Else Matters!!! Also Jason screaming “die!” In Creeping Death
7:03 action-packed shot, man. I'm out of breath here.
the symbol? lol
Wot a nice hi hat
King Nothing was awesome
King Nothing always is awesome, just like all the stuff from Load/Reload
8:55 that was really cool.
Uhhuhuhuh....Metallica rule...huhuhuhu
Nothing Else Matters intro is too slow, love it, also James eruct at 57:18
one week before that concert James got married with Francesca. 17.08.1997
22:00 james screaming. :p
actually is jason
This has to be the first show I've seen where Kirk's tone is better than James'.
Ha
Kirks hair in this is weird
Can't say the same about Kirk's hair tho
I was at this gig, they weren't quite on top form but even a wobbly Metallica destroys most bands!
Yesss!
indeed.
still better than since 2003
Martin Frajer 2003-2008 after that they. Are good
Yep snap... Still a decent gig.. My first was Donington 95
David Blaine on lead guitar
Agree friend
Twas
JASONS BACKING VOCALS ON UNTIL IT SLEEPS YES
They're sooooo on point here. Today's bands don't have that raw attitude
Juan Reyes kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk check my channel and ALL the Brazilian bands pls
Juan Reyes brazilian Metal* bands
Damn you dont really listen to alots of bands if you think that
No they didn't haha (not here) Listen to the intro from One or Battery haha (I really love them anyway)
They weren't on point here really, sloppy for them in part and I was there..
Reading 97 was my first concert!
and this is golden era Metallica for me - Load is still my fave album of theirs and here we get drunk and foul mouthed Hetfield, hyperactive Lars, and JASON NEWSTEAD! great set too.
I was at this show, 17 and drunk, watching Metallica for the first time
Jason! Jason! Jason!
Three men that are not in Metallica anymore: one hell of a bass player, one hell of a backing vocal, one hell of cool guy on stage. Jason was all that. He still is but somewhere else.
one of the greatest concerts ive been too great weekend all round. brings back drunk memories.
That's the show for those who love Load/Reload, like myself. And the general vibes of that time.
The height of their attitude days. '97 was a great year for them as far as ego, power, creativity, etc. I wore out my Cunning Stunts VHS from this era too.
@@mattdad8429 same here. I had CS live on a pirate VHS, that my friend got somewhere for me, and I watched it almost every week being a kid
NICE light show on Hero. one of the best Tallica shows of the 90s so far.
Miss you jason
22:04 what a legend
Oooooof that was bad
I loved this concert. great weekend. Jason was especially cool that night. ah......20 years ago! Memories.......thanks for the upload, man. ;)
I saw them in 92, 96 In Manchester and I was at this gig, right at the front.
Up til then, I said this was my favourite time seeing them, they were fucking brilliant.
Saw them another 9 times, until Manchester 2 weeks ago, which is NOW my all time favourite gig
1996/1997 are very underrated for metallica in terms of live shows
I love you Metallica,James !!!
Man they absolutely killed Stone Cold Crazy!
For fucks sake! i can't believe that people complains about James swearing! Damn
He hardly swears at all these days. His kids are back stage and even rock stars don't like to swear in front of their kids. Weird, eh?
Elmo Blatch Well...Corey Taylor don't give a fuck, even his son swears
I was at there and can remember this bloke in the crowd near me was complaining about the swearing. He said something like, "Does he have to swear so much, it's 1997, not 1977!"
It did surprise me when I watched them live on TV at Glastonbury a few years back and he didn't swear at all.
I saw this gig in '97 and it was awesome beyond belief to me. I hadn't listened to them for a good few years but I've listened to them ever since \m/
Damn, that's a pretty strong setlist!
제임스 존나 멋지다ㅠㅠ. ..............love load/reload era... ......thanks for share this video ....thanks
Metallica is the best Band Ever! No Matter What!
slayer
Thank You for work.
Thanks a1543z !
4:26 - 4:40 the art of stir up the masses.
Slayer
love this metallica era, lml
Was there :) Cheers man!
Memories I was there awesome
back in the days when metallica still rocked and people knew how to enjoy concert...too bad I was only 6 years old. Nowadays it seems like world is so much purified and people are so demented by technology. but thanks to youtube, I can go back in time and throw nowadays reality fucking away!
I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
I love this show
Killer ass guitar tone!!!!
How time flies , omg.. Looks like kids
BRING BACK JASON!!! 🤘🤘
Thank you for the Metallica Video Greetings for Germany Danke Schoen
I was at this show. Spotted myself in the crowd picture in Kerrang during Feeder. Still have my Reading 97 tshirt, although it has seem better days.
22:05 James Hetfield's got screw up
Not sellouts. Just innovative
Oh they're sellouts they sellout every fucking show they do METALLICA FOREVER!!!!
yo tengo ese dvd es genial
8:20 - Looks like some inner ear monitor issues. Bass comes in out of sync with Lars' hats. Pulled it back together (as you do)
SheenaMurrayVEVO Damn that is fucking good ear mann ;) Wow... I hear it to now...
No ear monitor yet then
Did he burp at the start of Nothing Else Matters?
i really love them here, i feel is really unique to listen to them this way, so untight and all but it´s not bad, at least for 2021 me that can listen to it in my home, probably if i went there i would be disapointed
angry james is the best james!!
this concert was clickbait
there were no books
Wow this has got to be one of the greatest set lists they've ever done. Mixing a little from all their albums. Almost a greatest hits set. I can think of a few more songs I would've added but I'm sure time played a factor for them
Until It Sleeps!!!!
Great!!!
How many of u kinda laugh or smile when James says bitch in mic over and over
22:04
Lol at Jason about to say "Stone Cold Crazy' at 1:11:26 but then he realized the crowd was gonna do it for him.
I always loved that Nitro-flame "V" James had during this era. Never saw it after this tour either... probably buried in a case in his house somewhere.
The best LIVE I've ever seen for Metallica, not only this, but it also shows me the real them...
The Real Once in a Life Time METALLICA- FOREVER MORE
i sat back and prepared myself to enjoy when i heard at start "no remorse" but then they started "so what" - ok, thinking to myself, i'll keep watching- and then WHAM! maaaaaaaster!!! great. i enjoyed. waiting for jaymz: "kirk, come in'!" - and when they started "king nothing" i left..
i need cure for my ears.. im goinig to listen dave, adrian & janick - when they promise solos, they do the solos!
MOTORBREATH FUCK YEAH!!!
How fucking short is kirks hair?
Too short.... xD
Yes
Kurts been going bald for as long as I can remember, but never fully loses it. That's strange as shit.
+copykon Cobain?
learn their names douche bag
+copykon he got transplants (not kidding)
Hahaha, internet comments are the best
It's shows like this that male me think that 'The struggle within' is about James's liver...
I was there man
Is the logo on James's shirt the same as Kirk tattoo?
jep except on kirks tat it says made in sf and then kirks birth date instead of made in l.a. and metallicas founding date which is on the shirt.
So sick
READINGGGGG, METALLLLLLICCAAAAAAAA, READINGGGGGGGGG, METAAAAALLLLLICCCCCAAAAAAA ? SO FUCKING WHAT !!!!!!!
LOVE IT !
that transition into Nothing was EPIC
1:10:19 sabbath bloody sabbath
I haven't been in Reading but I ve been Maidenhead 4 times , gg.. It was cool?)))
Pavel Pogrebnyak forever !!!
( Hello from Russia) ))
I think kirks guitar goes out righ at the end of solo in For whom the bell tolls, and never comes back, but for some reason he can hear himself on the monitors but the in Whatever i may roam we can only hear James guitar troughout the whole song, James even notices and makes a remark to Lars right at the start of the song!
the chills... 58:36
omg.. yes... i died
NIce to see something different from Seek and Destroy in the end of set-list =)
metallica una de las mejores bandas de los 4 grandes del trash metal
Tenho essa live em DVD
4:26 Loved 90's James!
holy sheeyt
forgot to list Last Caress
Kirk hammeth looks so funny in short hair lol
Nobody replaced Cliff!!!
Did Kirk forget the Fuel solo? :D so rad man!!!
eu tenho a fita completa
holy shit
I love Jason Newsted, he was the best they could have after Cliff passed away. Trujilo? You kidding me?
I absolutely 💯agree. Cliff and Jason were the absolute best fits for Metallica. I've never cared for Robs bass playing. I mean sure he was great with Ozzy but he just doesn't do it right in Metallica. Now this is just my opinion I mean obviously he's doing something right otherwise I'm sure they wouldn't have kept him for almost 20 years. But I like to think he's just filling in until they either make anmends with Jason or they find someone better 🤣🤣🤣LMAO
Thanks for replacing the previous upload of this which got removed.
I am the only one wo feel that kirk look like prince in thouse years? Xdxd
Yes you are.
kirk looks like he has mange with that hair so short lol
+SandblastedSkye Hahahahahaha, he really does!!!!
one of the very few times they play One without the gunfire intro and Roam without that intro tape
👍👍
