- Most people do not know that untreated ADHD leads to depression and that most doctors miss this problem.
Oftentimes, when ADHD goes untreated and depression occurs, the depression is treated but some of the symptoms remain. This is because ADHD is still present, making the depression treatment far less effective.
The Real Talk Mental Health group discusses this issue in detail and explains how to talk with your doctor to get the help needed.
If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, reach out to someone that loves you and let them know what is going on. And if you are in the Portland, Oregon, or Vancouver, Washington area reach out to us.

What made you think it would be a good idea to have music playing when trying to give advice to people with ADHD .
Omg YES like what the hecc. It was so distracting I could only catch just certain words cause the music kept repeating and its annoying and triggering lmao
Same exact thought... I scrolled back like 5 times to finish the vid.
I turned on subtitles 😆
Geez yes
It’s the worst kind of lofi music for this speaking video. The editor doesn’t understand ADHD and UX design at all!!!
PLEASE remove the music. As a person with ADHD it’s way too distracting. Thank you very much looking forward to follow up videos . Sept 2023❤❤
This is good information. Unfortunately all I can hear is that repetitive noise in the background.
Excellent information…but please…turn off the music….so annoying…especially for Adders who have difficulty focusing in the first place…🙄
Please remove music
The content is outstanding. The music is distracting during the presentation.
Yeah distracting for a adhd video lmao
Low motivation comes from toooo many unfinished outcomes… my adhd is like stitching 1000 buttons to a shirt only to find you mistakenly cut them off as you went along..🤯😱😢
YESSSS
Wow you were spot on with that .
Well said
Bro the music is so loud it is making me angry. I cannot hear a single thing they are saying.
Totally. I became nauseous trying to decipher info aside from that awful background noise.
I was just diagnosed and medicated for ADHD at age 38 and my depression is gone. I’ve realized it was only there because of the untreated ADHD. Antidepressants worked only minimally, at best.
Yh...what meds u on?
A word of warning. if you're on stimulants. they only work well for a short time and should only be used as a bridge to get other mechanisms in order. Otherwise they become a problem all on their own. I know from personal experience. I don't think they should be allowed to prescribe amphetamine.
cheers scott
what medication helped?
62, still trying to get treatment for adhd
@@scottloder7976I kept seeing these kinds of testimonials from people on adhd meds so I never tried them. They work at first and then stop working. So I take no meds but my life is a sustained chaotic hell.
Why. Why the background music. Just...don't you know who your audience is?
Very hard to listen to with the music in the backround
I’m not diagnosed but I think I had adhd. Everything I’ve read and watched coming from credible sources fits me and I never knew
Couldn't listen to the whole thing due to the annoying (and loud) background music. 😢
This music its crazy 😢 i cant not lisen its so stress
Thanks for the discussion! Keep up the good work spreading the word!
Thank you for all your work and care 🙏❤️
Very good video. This is really helpful and so spot on! Keep
Up the great work my fellow nurses! You’re on point! ❤ thank you for your understanding and compassion!
It sounded like good advice but i couldn't continue listening due to the unnecessary background music....
THE MUSIC IN THE BACK IS DISTRACTING ME! 😫
@real talk mental health
Does anyone read comments?
Can barely hear the conversation
over the damn "music".
Please fix it !
If you let the music make you dancy, listening to her gets better.
The background music makes this unlistenable.
This is information not entertainment.
Thanks I really needed this video. My daughter struggles big time for 4 years now. 🙏🙏❤️
So funny I am trying to listen and you have annoying music like a bouncing ball in the background make it hard to listen i have ADHD
Agree.
It's so hard to listen to the dialogue hahaha
Same. Content was great but please, show us what you haven’t learned about ADHD 😆
you know nothing about adhd if you think that music is ok
Here’s something the three of you should know. People with ADHD get bored easily. Playing the same ten note pattern over and over again in the background becomes the only thing I can hear. Also, if you really need to have music playing in the background hire a sound editor or at least lower the volume.
Just so you know , the background music throughout the narrative ,makes it difficult for me ‘ many ADD DISLEXIC People to follow conversation.
Such important informations connected to such a stupid, loud ,rrepetitive and disturbing music...not a good idea.
This STUFF IS HITTING HOME WITH ME ,GOTTA GET HELP
Have you had any adult patients who didn't have much response to amphetamine but did well with methylphenidate products?.. I ask because I'm planning to talk to my psychology doctor to see about switching from Vyvanse to methylphenidate. (I've had several amphetamines and anxiety/depression med combos over the past 3 or 4 years and am still struggling badly).. most recently my insurance stopped covering the Vyvanse because I need to update the prior authorization crap.. so I've been completely cold turkey on only Buspirone & Duloxetine and no stimulant at all.. it's been a nightmare. Between severe headaches and terribly vivid morbid dreams, I'm not sick but I'm definitely not well 🥺.. I need help. I feel like everything is coming to a head.
Also, I should add... when I was much younger.. in my teens. Occasionally I'd get an Adderall from a classmate or whomever in exchange for pot or whatever the case was.. and I'd feel focused and motivated.. every since I've been actually diagnosed and treated for Adult ADD.. the Amphetamine seems to have very minimal effects on me. They're better than nothing at all.. absolutely.. but definitely not what I'd expect from hearing other people's testimonials and research. It's like I'm overwhelmed to the point that I'm shutdown and procrastinating nearly every aspect of my life. Sh*t blows 🤯🔫
@@dr.bonscott3962 I'm struggling with the exact same situation.. stimulants did absolutely nothing for me and I'm really struggling
To all my ADHD friends, how are you guys combatting these problems, without medications or if you don’t plan yet to resort in medication
Omg…I wanted to listen to all of this but I can’t because of the background music. PLEASE turn it off!
can't hear over the music :(
are you born with ADHD or can it develop later in life? if so, what factors lead to developing ADHD?
Does ADHD or can ADHD, hurt talk therapy for depression. If the person with ADHD isn't getting all the information in all the therapy sessions.? If they're not connecting the dots let's say... Could ever be a possibility? I've also never witnessed a provider treating ADHD by simply giving medication. But the bad thing about ADHD is it's 24 hours a day it's not only when the medication is effective.
Do some adults with ADHD use food to self medicate?
I would say for sure. Food can „help“ with dopamine.
Yes, definitely. Children as well. Binge eating and self medicating with any substance.
Absolutely. When I’m spiraling I start craving sugar. If I consume something sweet, my mood changes completely. It’s a bad bad habit because my mood is swinging constantly.
People with ADHD _might_ need to take two Concertas to cope with the terrible annoying banjo 🪕 in the background and understand what you are saying. Ask Me How I Know!
I cannot stand the background music. I’m trying to listen to the lecture, all I hear is the damn music in the background.
Agreed. Sorry but I took down my thumbs up.
Stimulants are a liability for the doctor. Nothing will change until that is fixed.
So how do you treat ADHD?
Stimulants or non stimulant medications
I’m desperately suicidal with late diagnosed ASD and ADHD at 56 yrs . But I can’t filter out what you’re saying from the music. What a waste of probably good information.
clicked off due to music and im neurotypical
Love the topic - but couldn’t listen past 2;39 , back ground music is terrible 👉 from my perspective 👈 . Thanks anyway 👣🦘👍
Gave up cant take anything in with the cringe music on repeat
