    Trip, glad you found it. Last time I was there a buggy made a nice trail for me to follow. I came from the forest road to the West and camped on the island halfway from it. Its a farther trek than the forest road you took. One day I want to follow the outflow down to the Gulf.

    Maybe it's part spring and part tidepool. The underwater video looked like it was not conducive to plant growth. Maybe it slowly refills with freshwater until a very high tide or weather system pushes in saltwater. Also, that looked like a rough walk.

    Got to remember to bring a Sawyer Squeeze on your adventures! I'm interested to learn about the geology of these marsh springs. I've found several on old USGS maps, one practically at the shoreline. I guess they're just such a small magnitude that decaying matter lays on top of them that they can't really boil?

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  Рік тому +3

      Yea.... I don't know how it would have done with the salt water though as it was a bit salty. I think they would still boil if they had enough flow. One thing that happens is over time, flows underground change and some springs may not flow anymore in general.

      @@TripSmith In my area they call them " velvet tailed" . The only one I ever actually seen was dead on side of road, over 5.5 ft long , about three or four buttons that would make zero sound . YIKES , I always heard they existed , I must have walked by dozens of them over the years , just be cautious in that grass, they are invisible in their element

    Great fun! Glad you are in shape! Surprised to didn't encounter one of those huge pythons. Unless they are more likely in South FL.

    Are you looking for man-eating alligators and snakes? Seems a bit crazy.
    edit: Okay, I watched the rest of the video. Glad you made it, bro. That had to be rough, but you did it!I liked your "do stupid things smart" comment. At least I now know that you are aware of what you were up against. Respect! Thanks for sharing.

    The crazy stuff looks a little familiar...I've definitely tortured myself a few times and 99% of the time by myself. Thank God I dont live anywhere near you and you don't invite me! Typically when these sorts of adventures are over, it feels kind of good to sit in a more civilized comfortable spot and reflect on how it could have went more sideways, but didn't and how you wouldn't do it again, but you did it and made it out. Peace
