Good news: V2 takes MASSIVE damage if you can parry its attacks back into it. Bad news: Parrying his attacks is hard and takes practice. Worse news: Getting the parried attacks to hit him is also hard since he won't JUST STAND STILL.
@@Red-mg4roIf he won't stand still, just stand still yourself and let him circle around you. Aim towards where he's going while parrying and it should hit him.
The best way to rocket ride is actually as follows: >Pull out freezeframe rocket launcher (the blue one) >Right click in midair >Dash while looking downwards slightly (not by too much, you just can't be staring straight ahead) >As soon as the dash ends, fire a rocket >Unfreeze the rocket (not immediately, wait just a moment) >You are now rocket riding The timing is very forgiving, and most of it can be performed very fast. If you're having a hard time consistently pulling it off, try unfreezing slightly longer after shooting. Hope this helps! This is by far the most consistent method that can be pulled off in the most situations. Very useful for high wave cybergrind
A much easier tech to pull off mid-air is to pull a rocket towards you with the whiplash. Keep in mind that it only works while falling and looking downwards, otherwise the rocket will explode. Mastering both techniques and knowing when to use each is optimal, but I do find this one easier and can be used when you mess up the other one or don't have any stamina.
One thing I do want to mention is how Gabriel is actually the protagonist of the game, while V1 is the antagonist. If you play through Ultrakill with this mindset, you will really start to see it. And Hakita has also confirmed that this is indeed the case Honestly it’s interesting the way the whole story is structured, with you playing the antagonist instead of the protagonist.
@theorganizer471 You should maybe recheck your definitions, and play Ultrakill again. Since here it’s still going by the definition. Hakita has stated many times that V1 isn’t the main character, rather Gabriel is, and V1 is the opposing force to him. The story of Ultrakill completely shows this fact. There are no lost meanings of Protagonist and Antagonist here, they are still used correctly. If you are wondering why we play as V1 then, its used as a lens to see Gabriel's story, and at the same time V1 is used as the antagonist, you as V1, directly conflict with Gabriel, causing his character to change and grow. While V1's character stays exactly the same. (there are plenty more examples, but this reply is already very long)
I wouldn't say Ultrakill is polished, some of its most famous techs are by accident, for example: projectile boosting and slam storage, it's the jank that carries the game
Polished? It's where the you release an OP weapon because of your completely intentionally added ''technic''? Or is it when you skip a lot of well-known game mechanics because simpler game is simpler to balance? Or when you release the game by episodes, so you can fix some of the stuff you put previously because you changed your mind?" (but rebalancing earlier parts of the game, enemies and weapons is too hard for you because no one notices the problem)
V2 actually deals identical damage to V1 for the most part. His shotgun deals slightly less damage for some reason, his ricoshots also deal less damage, but his nails deal way more.
correction on gabriel being the antagonist, hakita had said that gabriel is the protagonist despite the fact you dont play as him, who has recieved to most character development? the most focus? Gabe, V1, despite being the thing you play as, acts more as a way to move the story, its the reason BIG SPOILER WARNING gabriel killed the heavenly council, questioned his allegiance to heaven, if anything, V1 is the antagonist
The best thing about ultrakill bosses is two things They take a few hours, maybe days, to kill on your first attempt, but eith enough practice within a single minute. And you can delete the health bar of most bosses before the fight actually starts with nails, coins, and rails
Nail gun: core eject shotgun. Core: malicious rail cannon. Assault rifle: overheat nail gun. 90% of his health bar: first quarter of his first health bar. How to rocket ride: first get blue rocket launcher second right click third fire rocket fourth jump on rocket 5unfreeze rocket 6 aswd to control said rocket
When I first played it, it was hard. But now that I have played the game again from the start, it became more easy and fun. And the cyber grind keeps me coming back every day.
"Ultrakill bosses are the best bosses" me asf watching some random guy on youtube throw 20 coins in the air and immediately kill the boss (there was a lot of skill and gameplay involved in doing that):
The pacing of the boss fights in Ultrakill are always really well done. Ultrakill was actually my first movement shooter so starting out I was extremely bad at the game, i died around 130 times in Clair de lune, but not once was I pissed off I just stayed determined. The way the deaths transition straight from one attempt to another without virtually any down time really adds a lot to the feel of the boss battles, they feel way less cumbersome than other games where you have to sit through an intro after each death or have to go through a gauntlet over and over. I've also always appreciated how when you master the boss battles you can kill them all almost immediately, the time it takes you all chalks up to skill and not arbitrary gameplay restrictions.
In my experience, the best way to quickly and consistently rocket ride in midair is to just rightclick, leftclick, rightclick. Also be looking slightly down and moving slightly down during this. I sometimes dash a bit before to cancel my speed first. If it doesn't work, try doing it faster or slower, eventually it becomes muscle memory. I'd say the timing is about less than a quarter second, but idk I never measured. Though sometimes I underestimate the time between clicks.
You did say you are grateful for any type of comment so : Have you ever wondered what washing machine would let me clean bloodstains more effectively? I heard the V-series to work quite well in eliminating all blood, but I don't know.
I think that its cuz Ultrakill is a stylish action game first, which have great bosses, then FPS 2nd, the game play feels more like DMC than Doom Eternal. but it just happens to have a first person camera and use guns more than swords
I'd argue that Ultrakill isn't exactly better than other FPS, rather it's got a lot of old and new mechanics mixed together in a really good way. I admit that I appreciate its complexity, and I'd like to see more of its kind (Devil Daggers, Hyper Demon), but not every game needs to be as complex, or challenge the player all the time. Sometimes I want to just relax and chill, without getting punished too much for letting my guard down, I appreciate diversity of player experience as well, be it incredibly complex and rewarding game (Ultrakill), or w+m1 mob mowing (Borderlands, DRG), or fighting bullet sponges while getting nearly one-hit-killed by them (Horizon and God of War on highest difficulties).

I did a rocket launcher only run recently and V2 2 with just the rocket launchers was an experience. Ok so uhh ULTRAKILL rocket riding is very interesting. You may use the right click of your freeze frame launcher but riding a rocket too long will weigh it down and it will begin to descend (If you turn cooldowns off this won’t happen) but the freeze frame isn’t your only way to ride rockets as rockets can be whiplashed towards you. When whiplashing a rocket towards you while it’s above you or you are moving in an upwards trajectory it will nuke the rocket and yourself whilst exploding you upwards. You may also freeze frame rockets as fast as you can click to fire a rocket, freeze said rocket, land on said rocket, and ride said rocket. Be sure not to rocket ride in sentry sight lines, or near magnets as those are things that can destroy rockets but sentries will be a real pain as they lock on to you. If you hop off of a rocket it will earn back all of its momentum and leave you behind (just like father). Riding rockets into enemies (as you’d expect) would deal damage to both of you. While riding on a rocket you may steer it with ASWD but with said steering you the rocket will always be moving forward relative to the rockets nose. This is all I know about rockets and the best thing you can take away from this is I am a nerd.
unrelated to the topic but kinda related. a Roblox game called Dummies vs Noobs, most bosses in this game can kill you as fast as you can kill it. some are... linear but some are really good and challenging.
