Extracting Equipment Run Through

  • The third installment from this extraction. The honey has settled and been bucketed up. Cleanup has begun and I give a more detailed run through of my extraction system.
    This system is composed of American made equipment, all of which is easy to work on yourself. Cowen has some of the best customer service of any company I've dealt with. The Silver Queen is very easy to work on and tweak yourself, especially with phone support from Cowen.
    You may wonder why I don't have a larger extractor. The reason is because the Maxant 20 frame is bulletproof. I like having the redundancy, 2 of the same allows me to keep parts for the same model and if 1 was to breakdown (not likely!) I won't be shutdown.
    With this setup you are covered from 50 to 500 colonies. Tried and true equipment that you can be just as comfortable running 5 or 50 drums of honey through.

    Gus, I remember when Kelleys was Kelleys not MannLake! Unless I have a change of heart MannLake WILL NOT sell me another thing! Oh well now that I’m through venting,thanks for showing more of your honey house and your extraction equipment!

    Gus, I really like your honey run. I am trying to tweak mine as I grow and definitely will borrow some tips from your setup!! Great Video!!

      My setup is very similar to what a mentor of mine, Ronnie Clift, used.
      I got to spend a lot of hours with his equipment and that helped a lot when it came time to set up mine.

    When you was talking about hot water in your honey harvesting I was wondering how does that work. Now I know. Thanks Gus

    Stung in the hand sucks. I am allergic. But each sting brings me closer to not be allergic.

    Gus, thanks for the videos, hope to see one on the cleanup, especially the extractors and sump. I really like my Maxant extractor (same as your new one) not to crazy about the clean up.

    Now an example of how to make hot honey. I've got lots of people who buy my honey that are interested in me making some. It's great that you share your knowledge on all these subjects! I can't thank you enough !

      I’m not sure I want to put my hot honey process out there, I get pretty good feedback on that product 😉

    Do you or can you store your honey buckets long-term stacked like that? Ever had any trouble with the ones on the bottom breaking from the weight?

    • @gusmitchellcranesnesthoney6529
      @gusmitchellcranesnesthoney6529  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I normally Store them 5 high. I use high quality buckets and those aren’t, so I didn’t want to go higher. I use 11”x11” plywood squares.
