110 psi is what I run semi trucks at, years ago a guy got mad at his boss and put a knife into a steer tire and it blew the knives back cutting his jugular and he died, the video is on YT somewhere. If a semi tire blows and your on a motorcycle next to it your either going to be hurt or dead, 110 is a lot, I wonder if it prevents punctures like that
Can definitely imagine how loud that 140psi explosion was. One time i was servicing my road bike, changed an inner tube, pumped it up to 90, thought everything was fine and moved on. Right at that moment the tube exploded, must've had a pinch flat or something, and it was so unexpected and loud that my mind went blank for a second or two, ears ringing wildly for quite a while, before i realised it was the tube😂 that was a road inner tube at 90psi, now just imagine a massive DH tyre at 140☠️
I had the rim fail while pumping with a hand pump at about 100psi (which should be well within the limits of a road bike). But yeah, wow, that was loud.

I pumped my tyre up 2 high , it exploded - thing is i had that green gunk stuff in my tube ( thats meant 2 prevent punctures ) & got covered in it , it was half way up the side of me house - wot a mess bruv 😂
I wouldn't be surprised if the limiting factor turns out to be how much you weigh rather than the strength of the tire. E: or the pump is engineered well and won't let you put more pressure through it than it can take.

Tyres are usually rated for half of their actualy capabilties. 60psi maximum = 120 psi theoretical. This might not be the case for a Walford or Halmart special, but a brand name tyre of good quality should follow this kind of testing procedure.

Dude 140psi is more than 9bar. It's literally a bomb 🤣 once at work a big truck tire exploded in front of me at +-140psi. I can tell you, without helmet and other protection stuff it's no joke. I flew almost 2m up in the air and I landed 4m further away. Almost lost sight with one eye but in the end it all came fine or almost 🤣 it was scary to watch but I've expected more 😛🤣
That is hilarious, I was always kind of teased for using Continentals aswell as running 50psi on all my downhill and Enduro bikes, even on my big heavy Iron Horse Sunday😆
Seeing these torture tests of the conti tires and how far you push them makes me confident in putting them on my bike and knowing they're gonna take whatever abuse is thrown at them.
I'm confident that the first explosion was on another level of loudness and intensity, especially given it deformed the tire. If Sam did this with a new tire, it would have been similar to the original blow out.
Sam you should definitly do a magic attempt that just doesnt work one day. Take a few ammusing attempts of chucking the hopper ramp down before the magic finally kicks back in. haha

Great video for in regard to applied theory of mishandling of the tyres. I am interested in seeing some data surrounding the Raceking XC tyres… between me and my son, we have had six failures riding on “ordinary” terrain (fireroads)… yet amazing durability experienced whilst riding down technical chunky singletrack ockgardens. Tubeless, of course. No idea why/how fireroads at speeds in excess of 30MPH cause the tyres to self detonate at pressures between 25 - 45 PSI.
I've done this a couple times... I don't really like the bang but I'm a curious person and one could argue I have too much time on my hands. The first time was when I was 12-13 years old. I had a mountain bike with the stock tires rated for something like 25-50 psi. I wondered what would happen if I put more than 50 psi in them. I had no problems with the rear tire... I had 75-80 psi in it and no problems. I just barely went over on the front... inflated it to 60 psi or so. I rounded a corner and the tire popped out and soon after the tube popped. It was loud. The second time was when I was in college. I was bored one day and decided to do something similar... see what would happen if I pumped my tires a little over the maximum rating. The tires were Schwalbe Marathons rated for 35-70 psi. I got the rear tire up to something like 90 psi and rode around on it. It actually held and nothing happened, but it was an unpleasantly hard ride. Then I decided to push my luck... and then some, as I was inside my dorm. I pumped the tire up to 125 psi. Rock solid. I tapped the tire and BAM!!! It exploded. As a testament to the Schwalbe tires, the tire actually survived and I continued to use it. Unfortunately, the force of the tire blowing off damaged the rim and I had to replace the rim. Would not recommend...

Whilst seating a tubeless tyre on an e13 rim, no bead click, so I keep pumping, no click keep pumping. At 160 psi the rim flared open.
