- Filling my tyres with water - The MTB long jump challenge of doom! I experiment pumping my wheels with water and jumping as far as I can off an MTB kicker ramp before getting a puncture on the spikes! Would you ride like this?
I thought that filling my mountain bike wheels with water and seeing how far I could jump off a portable MTB kicker ramp would be a good idea and my word was I right! I started off the crazy ride by taking a part my bicycle pump and filling it with water before pumping it into the tyres of my Haibike electric enduro MTB thus increasing the weight and making the characteristics of the bike change drastically. After putting roughly 4-5 litres of fresh water into the wheels it was time to build the MTB hopper kicker ramp with some magic and lay down the spikey long distance stick! The aim of the game was to see how far I could jump with the bike weighing a lot more and when I do finally get a puncture I wanted to see my tyres squirting like a water jet, but was that going to happen?
The distance of the gap jump got massive and I was pushing the limits of my bike with the heavy landings I was giving it and with the added weight I was quite worried to see if the forks would survive the thrashing! After some sending and some epic GoPro slow motion the inevitable happened, but how far did I go?

@@William-Morey-Baker I have heard stories about it and it was the coolant passages, when running certain fuels the fuel itself will actually cool the engine enough for it to do a few passes. top fuel dragsters use custom blocks without any coolant passages at all actually

That's math! That means he's estimating his foot is 2/3rds of a foot long, or 8 inches. That's probably a bit short, but his foot may be about 10 inches long, which would make that gap 20 actual feet, or 24 Pilgrim-feet

How about filling the innertubes with water, and going out cycling when it's below freezing. Will the water freeze while cycling? And how will the bike control be on frozen tyres? Maybe some stairs to brake the ice in the tyres.
The inner tubes would shrink because of density changes. It seems like it would have the risk of imploding.

haha nice. I filled my bike tyres with water way back in the school days because I was sick of slow leaks. Yes heavier but worked great stopping the leaks.

Legend has it that John Tomac used to ride with his tires full of water on the regular (as a training method). And then on race day he would switch back to air so that his legs and riding were more powerful.

I seated my plus-size tires with water and a mini pump. Took a lot of elbow grease, and the draining/drying process was lengthy as well, but it totally worked! Floor pump is worth it though
