- After starting a conversation with Russell and the gang who were holding signs, a self-proclaimed marketer tells Russell that signs don't work if you want to start conversations.
In the course of the conversation, he argues that cultural change doesn't happen from showing graphic images, but the reality is that from Whipped Peter to Emmitt Till, graphic images have always been a key force for social change.
He then argues that we should have positive images of women keeping their babies...which is literally the sign that Russell is holding! And also the newest t-shirt at the Abolitionists Rising store.

That "marketing" guy is so self-contradicting, just tying himself in knots with his nonsensical meandering and looping back around on his own argument. His suggestion about going up to people and saying listen to my pitch was absolutely ludicrious 🤣 I would be so weirded out by that approach, but here I am watching another hour of these videos. These sign standing videos totally changes minds. As someone who marched in Washington DC with my mom and sister in support of pro choice, I have been totally changed by this approach.

I've seen several videos where an older woman does this to Russell too, which is telling. They would be the first ones complaining if Russell were to slap them on the shoulder and give 'em a squeeze while lecturing them. Could you imagine?

I see many young college people use that line. Many times they are the far left type, lesbian, gay, androgynous non conforming people. Basically all people that will not engage in any activity that could lead to pregnancy. Many straight guys that can’t get women also support abortion. Again can’t be involved in a pregnancy. That old lady, can’t get pregnant anymore.

I don't need to be falsely accused of a crime to know being falsely accused of a crime is wrong. And I certainly don't need to be a woman in order to stand up for unborn babies who are murdered
@@roberjohnsmithYour general point is certainly valid, though we all can relate much more to the unborn because every single one of us that are still living were once unborn. So while our skin is not black and white, we all spent the first 9 months of our lives within our mother's womb. The left's grotesque unAmerican idea of choice well over a century ago didn't really pertain to everyone, while now it does, so in many ways today's threat is much more destructive than it was when the abolitionist movement was founded.
You changed my mind with your videos I was Pro-life, but I can proudly say I am an Abolitionist! Showing the horror is the only way to get through to those who have hardened their hearts.
I am definitely not an Abolitionist, but I will admit this guy has some good points and it did push me more towards pro-life. I just don't' think I can ever get on board with Abolition due to the whole r*pe thing. I just imagine if it was my daughter, I'd want it to be her choice. I understand from a moral perspective that may be wrong, I understand you shouldn't punish the baby, and honestly, I wish there was some sort of way to save the baby and not have the mother have to carry it to term (some bioengineer bacta tank type of thing where the fetus can survive without the mother). I just think forcing a women/girl who was r*ped to carry to term is kinda messed up. So until we have that technology, I'd prefer to let women have the right in cases like this and in general for maybe the first 4 weeks.
This is such a crazy issue, humans have NEVER dealt with a conundrum like this before. I think it is fair to allow Libertarianism to guide us a bit here, as it is super complicated. I'm glad its state's choice now, but in general, I don't know if this should be a government thing, but rather, a societal and moral thing. If Russel is just saying all humans should be anti-abortions completely, I get it, but using government force to enforce that is where I start to have second thoughts. I mean, doesn't that mean a government official could r*pe a girl, and then force her to carry the child to term? Just seems like a lot of crazy things can happen if we let the government control this issue.
I'd rather humans just not want to abort but don't want gov to enforce that, as I am inherently libertarians. You could say they are saving lives if they do enforce it, but how is that different from the vaccine mandate argument?
As I said though, this issue is so complex, I think it's going to take decades for our species to figure out the answer. It's libertarianism vs. morality. Very tough situation. As you could argue the freedom of the fetus is being taken away, but if it's a r*pe baby, can you really force a women to carry that to term?

Russel has for sure given me things to think about, and given arguments for the fetus I've never considered before, so I do think he is a smart guy. It's just the r*pe thing I probably disagree with him on strongly, as r*pe is super complex and I think there should be a national discussion on this with civility in mind and realization this is complex.

If they listen to their gut, it will likely never happen by some stranger or acquaintance, then that leaves the SO. and if you choose men not based on money or looks that's another moot question. @@b.ballooon9225Rape is a tough thing to deal with, (to oversimplify) but the answer to a wrong is not to do wrong to someone else. If my daughter is raped and gets pregnant then we would make the best of it just like any other tragedy in life. Killing a baby won't improve the situation. Finding the positive in a negative is a better approach for everyone involved.

She would have to live with the trauma of rape and of killing and take that with her during her whole life. When he said “you’re never going to convince people” I laughed out loud. I used to think there was nothing that could convince me abortion was wrong, but I’ve changed my mind completely in the last year and it’s mostly thanks to you. Keep up the good work mate, I’m in the UK and there isn’t even a conversation about it here, it’s taken as a given that abortion should be okay by pretty much everyone. I’d love to see it abolished in the US so that perhaps, as is often the case culturally, we might follow suit.

I´m a psychologist and the marketing guy is not correct in saying "you´re never" , I assume he was trying to say that "if you want to change someones mind, doing what the preacher is doing is not the most effective way". The same way that stopping traffic or not letting people insider a KFC to create some type of awareness to an issue might not be the best to go about. Will a fetus create shock value and therefore attention? yes, but, will it change the mind of a pro abortionist? It is my opinion that it will create a negative emotional response that won't let the pro abortionist listen to the preachers argument.
I used to be a far left athiest and was completely certain that i would never change. Everyone that knew me which was a lot of people thought I was the last person that would believe yet it happened. As soon as I started to believe they all saw me as nuts and dropped off like they were running from bullets. 😂 guess I would've too.

I worked 20 years at agencies, inc 2 of the top 5. This encounter encapsulates my entire career. Yes, include the latest shiney new marketing tools, if that's where the target for a particular campaign exists, and ALSO every tactic that still works. Especially guerilla and grassroots get forgotten too often.

I think this was just a talkative dude myself. He also could have wanted to keep talking until he felt like he’d won the conversation (which was taking awhile and didn’t happen if that was his goal).
Honestly he could have just been interested on some level in how articulate the other ideas were. Anyhow, I hope the preacher put a rock in his shoe. (That will keep him thinking). All and all, I think he was a guy who really thought that this technique doesn’t work with this topic in 2023. I think it works for getting a conversation started though and he said he does other types of prolife activism in different settings.

Bless you Russell. Your conversations with these college students are probably the most valuable conversations these children will have during their entire collegiate experiences. The tragedy of abortion in and of itself has exposed 2 other lesser tragedies: 1 that abortion advocates are pretty much morally bankrupt as is 21st century western civilization and 2 that people pursuing college educations today are increasingly choosing to remain largely uneducated. People don’t care about getting it right, instead they just want to be right.
So from this guys marketing perspective.....
In order to stop people from murdering people, show pictures of people living happy lives.
To stop people swimming in shark infested waters, show pictures of people playing in the sand.
To stop the death penalty, show pictures of inmates living it up in prison.
To stop people using drugs, show people living a happy drug free life.
To stop Hamas cutting the heads off babies, show pictures of laughing children.
To stop people from eating meat, show pictures of baskets of bright colourful vegetables.
A marketing guy says signs don't work... Sounds like he's in the wrong business.
I'm in marketing, too... this guy's pitch is absolutely weak.

... when the crown jewel of marketing effectiveness is making someone FEEL something. Talking doesn't make people feel... but a polarizing, stark, and countercultural image will. Every time.

he's a marketing guy but he doesn't think that people are attracted to blood and gore? From violence in video games, media reports of every murder possible, national news showing how many people died in a region, 24/7 crime television showing some heinous acts... the vast majority of people, who have undisciplined minds, are vicarious for blood, death, and murder.
This is a classic example of a person who knows what you are saying is correct, but he is too stubborn to let you know he agrees with you.
Just sounds like he's post-rationalizing. "I don't like seeing it" comes first, then all the reasoning comes after.
