Whitefish Fishing Tips & Techniques !!!

Hey Guys ! This is my first upload towards helping you guys go out and target these fish that are almost in every river system in the Northwest ! , I am not a pro by all means but if this video helps you then thats all I'm trying to do ! no fish were kept from this video and i promise i will have better footage the more i get comfortable with my equipment ! Keep in mind these techniques work great on Trout as well if you are using a spinning rod !

I use this method on the Fraser and Thompson rivers in BC , a fly under a small float Barbless of course

Great information! Just moved to Missoula for school this fall and am learning how to fish these mountain rivers. Want to catch some whitefish so I’ll definitely be giving this tactic a shot!

I used this same technique back a few decades ago right there in Ellensburg on the Yakima river. Even bought my flies and maggots at Bi-Mart. I used speedometer cable as my weight as it is super slinky and rarely snags. The first year I went out it was cold, icy and I caught about a dozen whitefish quite easily. Next year, similar conditions, same spot on the river and caught nothing but trout, about 8 of them all released but nary a whitefish. It was interesting and a lot of fun but I've not done it again since then. My thoughts are starting to turn to Lake Whitefish instead. Enjoyed your video, better luck next time for the whitefish.

Quick question. Is it legal to fish stimulator nymph above your other nymph? And if it's legal to use two flies on same line, would it be effective to use egg pattern with a nymph
