Personally I bleed my fish out before I put them in my cooler or live well
Jim, you need to come over to Flathead Lake. We fish whities july through september we use coffin jigs called the whitefish slayer. Then in then late fall we fish them in the river during there spawn using the whitefish slayer or a green ball head jig with a green plastic in 1/8th to 1/4oz size with a #2 arbedeen hook.

I love it! we need more of this religious "crap", Did he say anything wrong! did it affect your fishing??? you have a choice ( God gave you that). follow Christ or perish. might want to pick up a bible and learn about jesus... he loves us and wants you to be with him.

Do not overlook the Crippled Herring (Rapala), or the Sonic BaitFish (Mack's Lure Co.), to score big on Whitefish. Capt Pete
Re: Catching in shallower lakes - Sometime fish in shallower lakes get those white grubs in the meat, making them a little more unattractive for eating.
Add a little Soy to the brine... and try (Just TRY it 1 time! ....thank me later) using Alder and a little Apple wood instead of all Cherry. Dear Lord... tis a religious experience here on Earth! Thanks for the terrific video guys, and .... AL, inspiration to the soul are those memories created - and those are truly blessings that fuel eternity.

I want to give this a try but don't really want to keep the fish. Do whitefish have a vented swim bladder? I don't want to target them if they can't be released safely. Also what size jigging raps or spoons will they hit? There mouths seem quite small.
Yup, you can catch these guys and release them without worry! Just like lakers.
Hi, thanks for the great video. There is a good sized lake in Michigan (7 miles by 3 miles with an average depth of 40 feet) and I know its loaded with Whitefish, but nobody ever fishes for them, but people sometimes bow fish them in late november.... im just dying to know if any of the methods you used in this video will work on this lake, Hubbard Lake Mi. and if so, why doesnt anyone ever fish for them ?.. it would be absolutely crazy if this works, I always assumed the whitefish were not fishable in Hubbard Lake.,... im thinking that was stupid of me to think like that after watching this video....
i get them vertical jigging just like this on my lake here in Ontario! Give it a try, i'm sure you'll have luck
